No, Brick, you are part of the Strong House.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

I guess since we are taking their recruits, they want to try to take our coaches.
    Fat chance.

    Shirley you can't be serious!?

Other than $$$ why would Brick want to consider joining Stumblin's sinking ship?

If he's dumb or corrupt enough to join aggy, good riddance.

It seems like I read somewhere that Haley was the lowest paid of the UT assistants.

No leverage when he was out of work. Now may be different.

Wants a raise after a 5-7 season and the worst defense in a while due to a large part in our DTs not being able to stop the run....??????
Try doing a better job with your charges Brick, if you want to get paid more...or hit the bricks !!!

Seems like there was a very solid DL recruiting effort. Was Haley largely responsible or significantly at least? That alone could justify paying him more if the can't let aggy steal him alone isn't enough. Or, if he sucks, then let him go. I don't know enough to judge.(still felt the need to post for some reason)

64 are you confident that he went after ags or maybe they sought him?

What was the overall quality of 2015 DT's?

I think it is a very good sign that after working with Brick Haley for many years at LSU, John Chavis recommends Haley and Sumlin seeks Haley out as their first choice to replace their departed D-line coach. Based on that, I hope UT is able to keep him. Otherwise I would have no idea how good of a coach he is.

Where? Prairie View? Hempstead HS? Franklin HS? Maybe head basketball coach at Snook?

As for Chavis recommending him, that should carry about as much weight as Mackovic recommending a defensive coach.

Wedll, apparently Jason Higdon said, in his usual cryptical/mystical way - "they didn't match anything" (meaning WE didn't match). So, take Anwar's tweet with a pinch of salt.

If Brick leaves, apparently there is a liquidated damage or whatever clause for 25% salary that UT can ask for, so technically we don't have to match A&M, if money is the only criterion. The gap needs to be less than $62K or something. I think we might give a token raise to $300K or something, but then aggy will have to go over $350K. Nobody seems to know what numbers are on the table though. The way Higdon put it, it is like we have not tried to offer anything, however. If Charlie is fine letting him go, I am fine with it, but if we offer some extra money and keep him, I am fine with that too :)

Hard to know what is going on right now but I would really like to keep coach Haley.

We have had too much turnover. It's hard to sell recruits on Texas being a rock solid place to spend four years when we can't keep assistants more than a year or two.

Also, the DL haul this year was epic. Anyone who was a part of that needs to be kept here.

Texas has ponied up a lot of money for assistant coaches lately, I hope they will do what it takes to keep Haley.

    This.

I am not sure how great a recruiter Brick Haley is, by himself, but he certainly proved that he could run with the plan that Charlie laid down. Charlie is the closer and he sets the schemes, but he needs people who can sell his story right and put in hard work. I mean, it is no easy job to have that many good DLs being kept through the last 2 weeks and committing in the end. Those recruits never wavered. That means they were hearing a clear plan from both Charlie and Brick, and knew how they would fit in, despite the numbers. That is what is recruiting is. He deserved to stay, for that alone. If we just go by how he did as a coach just this year, he was so-so, but his body of work as a DL coach is not too shabby. We should keep him, if we can.

I saw it reported that Jason Higdon gave a patience sign today on the Brick situation, which he apparently does when he is fairly confident that things would go our way. The longer Brick takes "mulling over" the A&M offer, the better for us. I hope so, at least.

Funny how whenever aggy loses out on a recruit, a coach or a player leaves early for the pros... aggy typical response is:

he was over-rated / he really wasn't that good
we didn't really want him / need him that much
he would have only slowed us down
'Sips paid him money (in the case of a recruit)
    Fill in the blank

    What a bunch of *******!

Wait, now we DO trust Chip Brown? I thought he was peddling clicks? I need a program to keep up with which rumor-floater is trusted and which is not.

In his interview Brick was probably asked to demonstrate his whooping, humping and nut-squeezing skills and was found lacking in these essential aggy attributes.
