okay, we are going to lose this one. Kudos to OU for coming out with such energy but we did a good job of helping them win with our poor shooting and bad passing.

Our players should show extreme signs of improvement throughout the season. It seems we are going backwards.

S.O.S. .......Baylor will win title again.....Watch Kim when Baylor comes to Norman. She won't stand there with her arms folded if the refs cheat.......My kind of coach...Takes up for her players when they are getting screwed over.

When we lose does it always have to be the refs? We just got out coached and out played. Our scheme sucks against decent teams. Our offensive sets are broken. We have top 5 talent in the country we should beat teams like Oklahoma by 10 on a bad night. We have so many excuses for this team. The players are not developing very well.

What does that have to do with 6'7 and 6'5 post players playing soft and not being able to make shots right at the rim. For some reason they went right back to not attacking the down ball screens very well and players like Empress settling and jacking up bad shots from the perimeter in the 4th quarter. There were situations where she should have been more vocal to the refs but that wasn't the reason for them not winning.

Coach Aston should've played Lashann more imo, we need guards that are capable of creating their own shot and get you a basket when the team isn't shooting the ball well. Lashann is the only guard on the team who can do that consistently. Like I've said all year, Coach Aston needs to continue to recruit better skilled offensive perimeter players and she still needs to improve as a coach on the offensive end of the floor.

I don't understand --- when your team is completely unglued and they are on fire, why would the coach not call a time-out? That is a time-honored move that most coaches use. Why not Aston? I can't imagine the reasoning (not that it necessarily would have helped).

It should be obvious by now, after two games, that our posts are not equal to theirs. They body us out of position, are quicker, and have much better post moves. Why do we not have a guard double down much more of the time? Going to the guards to post up was a good move. We probably should have done it much more.

OU scored 29 pts in the 4th. We scored 7. Game ended with us having 2 timeouts sitting there and Imani on the bench.

Someone want to explain to me where Karen was that final quarter? Did she get an important phone call? Maybe had to go to the bathroom? WTF was that? They out scored us by 22 pts in the final quarter and we have TWO timeouts on the book???

Exactly! We just win games based off talent. Whenever the talent level is even slightly close we look as if we have no coach.

Absolutely disgusted by the play of Imani. This team will only go as far as Imani carries them. Imani played soft all-around. As a senior, you'd think she would know she can't solely rely on her 6'7" frame to play defense. She and Kelsey need to push their defensive assignments out of their comfort zone. Kaylon William and Vionisse Pierre-Louise were able to post up within 3' from the goal all day. And there were times Imani would lose track of her assignment. Offensively, Imani fails to go up strong. Instead, she shirks from physical contact and shoots a low percentage shot.

    Imani/Kelsey: 2-15 fg, 12 points.

    Kaylon/Vionisse: 11-24 fg, 30 points.

Very disappointed in the Coaching and the play of the player's.Why do we just run one defense.Man to Man.For some reason Texas is going backward.Texas has not looked the same sense they loss to Baylor. We have all that speed in the Guard's.And we don't use that to our advantage. No trap's or press.I don't get that.At least Jody back in the day.Had a full court press. Please start working on Offense in practice's.And work on different style's of press and trap's.You have the speed. The Post play, look a mess.

It was a loss on the road to a ranked team so I am trying to maintain perspective. However, who out scores us by 22 in any quarter much less the 4th? Yes we shot horribly the entire game but we were up 4 at the end of the 3rd.

Not sure what is going on with Imani.
Not sure why Higgs has been reduced to an after-thought.
Not sure how Karen leaves two timeouts in the books during a 29-7 run.
Why not the twin towers approach that has worked in the past?
    Why no press?

So many questions. Scratching my head. Need to go away and let this just sink in.

Texas has a horrible shooting night, it happens, not usually almost EVERYONE though. Yes, there are lots of questions, and maybe the coaching could have been better, but we usually don't shoot in the 30% range for the entire game. Hard to beat anyone shooting like that. Not sure what is up with Imani, but whatever it is, Texas has gotta figure out how to keep winning without her presence.

Just to gripe some more --- I agree with the above, why not try both posts together when we are getting killed like that? Why not try Lashann more? I'm totally puzzled about her game, since we rarely get to see it. Has anyone been to practice and seen how she plays there?

Lashann came in and made a jump shot on an inbounds play, but the next play down the court she took a bad shot in transition and got pulled. When she came back in late in the 4th quarter she got into the lane with ease and scored. I thought that she would get more playing time because she played so well against ou the first time. She's not a good jump shooter but she's the only perimeter player on the team that can consistently create her own shot.

Higgs presence or lack there of left me confused. Like many have said her ability to get to the rim was needed today. No perimeter shooting and the face guarding of Atkins in the first half took her completely out of the game. Higgs came in and did exactly what she was suppose to score. Yet makes a mistake and get yanked. Senseless coaching.

I'm sorry but I don't see freshman Higgs as the saving grace that some do. Bad shooting did us in

Higgs is not the saving grace. But when perimeter shooting is failing you need someone to get to the rim and either break OUs run or shift the momentum. However there are risk with playing her. But for this game Aston should have tried and see what happens. IMO

From my view at the Lloyd Noble Center yesterday:

Officiating was some of the worst I've seen - but it was both ways. I will say, though, Ariel and Brooke got the short end of the officiating stick. They got slapped on the arm in the act of shooting numerous times with no call.. and Ariel got a couple called against her that were unbelievable.

Although we are way superior to OU in terms of athleticism and talent, the Sooners DICTATED both ends of the floor. Defensively we sat back and REACTED to their offense. On the other end they got up in our shirts and disrupted pretty much everything we tried to do on offense. When the D is up in your grill you spread the floor with personnel who can put it on the floor and go to the rack.. Higgs, McCarty, Davenport, etc. Don't know why we were so intent on punishing players for mistakes rather than putting a combination on the floor with the skill set to counter what OU was having success with.

That revolving door of substitution isn't fostering continuity. I understand some young players keep making the same frustrating mistakes, but a couple were needed yesterday to attack the OU defense.

Our bigs got schooled even worse than in the first meeting... amd in the EXACT same fashion with the same isolation plays. I wonder why we weren't ready for that... well, I was. Not a well-coached game by UT. As usual, Coale wins that battle.

Time to reevaluate and regroup. We're getting ready to find out if this year's team REALLY IS OR IS NOT that much different than the past couple of years. I sure hope they are.

I was traveling yesterday and did not get to watch the game live and the first thing I did when I got home was erase it from my DVR.

    A couple of takeaways from the posts I've read though;

    1. Not cool with having 2 timeouts left. I get letting your team play through some difficult stretches, but not in the fourth quarter

    2. As bad as the officiating may have been, hard buy that it dictated a 20+ point win.

    3. Lets maintain some perspective here. We play in arguably the toughest conference in the country. Hard to believe that someone wouldn't rise to the occasion and clip us on the road. That is the way this league has always been sans the griner/paris twins era. OU was our last real road landmine of the season before BU so that's encouraging.

    4. We still control our own destiny as it relates to a league title. We win out and we'll at minimum get a share of the title. BU still has to go to Norman and if they do to them what they did to us then we could still win it outright.

    5. The one thing this does likely do is solidify us on that #2 seed line, which if we land in the Dallas regional I would prefer.

Its really important that this team doesn't let one loss turn into another. KSU is a team that can get hot and steal a win. They stuck with BU for a while in Waco and I suspect they'll do the same in Austin. Focus, and get past it.

Let's put this in perspective, we have only 2 losses for the year! I think had we said that in November, we would have all been happy with only two losses.

Our post play has been getting exposed over the last 3 to 5 games. We have the tallest post but both are very soft and do not play with any physical presence. My question is what is the coaching staff going to do about it. I would suggest that we abandon the post when we are not getting any offensive from them.

I would like to see us speed the ball up and may play with 5 smaller players that can trap the ball and force turnovers. A line up with Celina, Brooke, Empress, Ariel and Bri. full court 1-2-2 and back in a trapping 2-3 zone. We might give up a few baskets but I can bet we are going to get a few easy ones too.

Our post are not rebounding anyway, so why reward them with playing time.

There were two coaching decisions that I can understand, 1st Coach Aston didn't use her timeouts to stop the run and 2nd she didn't start Celina in the 4th Qtr. OU went on run after we took the momentum going into the 4th Qtr.

Once the momentum swung to OU, we weren't going to get it back! They were playing at home and wanted that game more than us.

I am not saying that Coach Aston cost us the game because I believe it's always on the players but I just didn't understand why she didn't do those two things.

Coach Tina needs to really have a long talk with Imani and Kelsey! Those two are starting to be big disappointments.
