If you had not posted that CNN headline I would not have believed it was real.
Why I wonder us CNN refusing to phrase it more accurately?

Just to be clear, the translation in the tweet immediately above is not real
Nor is this headline, as adjusted for today's media sensitivities

Germany is under siege from their newest M.E. residents. First an ax attack on a train, then a mall shooting, next a Syrian blows himself up and wounds 15, and now a Syrian killed a pregnant woman with a machete and hurt two others.

Germany, a country of 82 million, let in 1 million Middle Eastern refugees last year alone. That's over 1% of their population. You've got to wonder what they're thinking. Even liberals and leftists have children and grand children who are going to grow up in a much different, much less safe country because of this.

    Well damn Joe
I do not know which is sadder, that I believed the headline :rolleyes1:
Or that based on today's media performance the headline was believable
Thanks for clarifying even if I feel dumb

You wrote the CNN headline, so I was unclear -- did you mean the BBC?
That one (top of this page) was real

I'd be interested to know the timeline on this. Presumably, there was no BBC reporter on the scene, so they were dependent on reports coming out from various sources. If this was posted in the initial minutes after the incident, before more details were known, then this is much ado about nothing. If this was how they were reporting the event hours later, that would be concerning.

Some background to know about Ansbach, there is a US Army facility there. Furthermore, a large number of military family members accompany the Army personnel there, so there is also a Department of Defense Dependents School in Ansbach. However, it is not behind the base's security gate. It's just in the local community like any other school. For years, nobody cared, but a facility to house refugees has opened up right across the street. The teachers union understandably threw a fit, and parents later complained. I think something is being done about it now.

But that'll give you an idea of how things have changed. Many DoDDS schools are off base in countries like Germany, because they were considered safe communities. Not so anymore.

The axe dude had been denied asylum by Germany and was known to authorities. No detail on why he was still in Germany after having his asylum denied. Appeal maybe? For this terrorist, it seems their screening process raised the right red flags.

Unfortunately, in the US he'd have a gun rather than an axe. Fortunately, you can't march to the US from Syria so we are screening them there before bringing them to the US rather than inside the US borders (e.g. immigrants from Latin America).

    Dear City council of Munich,

I am writing this letter to bring to your attention something that I and many Muslims believe is unfair and requires attention. I would like to inform you that the Oktoberfest is an Intolerant and Anti-Islamic event. We tried to ignore the event, but there too many Un-Islamic acts done at the Oktoberfest. Such as alcohol consumption, public nudity etc.

We understand that the Oktoberfest is a yearly German tradition, but we, Muslims, can not tolerate this Un-Islamic event, because it offends us and all Muslims on the earth. We are requesting the immediate cancellation of the upcoming Oktoberfest event.

We also believe that the Oktoberfest might also offend all the Muslim refugees coming from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. The cancellation of the Oktoberfest event will help refugees not to forget their Islamic history. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

    Sincerely,
    Morad Almuradi

Dems keep saying the refugees are being screened. You have also posted that before.
From where is the information coming from to screen these people ? Do you think there are reliable data bases on these people?
Even the Director of NIS admits there is no way to vet these people.
That Syrian refugee that had been denied status was still in Germany a Year later
That is just like us letting illegal roam around while they wait for a court date. Screws loose in both gov't .

We've been through this before multiple time in which I've posted FBI James Comey's responses in congressional hearings as to our ability to screen these individuals. It's his agency that is in charge of vetting them. You disagree. FBI Director James Comey or Horn6721...tough decision. I'll go with Comey.

Fortunately, for the Syrian refugees on our list for vetting, they remain in the ME before acceptance/denial. I fully recognize that is not the case for the Latin American's that apply for refugee status.

You do realize that in that very same committee meeting that Comey said (paraphrasing) he has full confidence that in our vetting process of these refugees. Are you assuming that the only vetting they do for these refugees is query a database? Our government is very inefficient but an 18-24 month step to query a database would be beyond bureaucratic. Again, I'll take the FULL context of Comey's responses rather than that single question.

You do realize the BO admin announced in May they had cut the vetting time from 18-24 mons down to 3 mons so they could bring in more Syrian refugees as soon as possible.
I guess when you have no information on these people it does cut down the vet time.

and again no one in the BO admin explains where they get information if not from their data bases? You think they ask relatives? Friends in the villages?
    How about some common sense?

I'm well aware of that. Do you think something might have changed to bring it down to 3 months or are you assuming it simply takes that much time to print a greencard?

Asking questions...like what Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump suggested as a vetting mechanism for Muslims fundamentalists?

Be reasonable. What could have happened in 6 mons to go from if the Syrian is not in the data bases we can vet until the cows come home but we will not know who the individual is and now ,heck we can vet the refugee in 3 mons?
Things in Syria only got worse so no undiscovered trove of reliable info was discovered. BUT it did become more political for BO to speed up bringing in people we have no idea who they are.
Why would you ignore common sense (we have no way to know who these people are according to your Hero Comey) and continue to say we really can vet these refugees?

Who is ignoring common sense? The one that says there is no way to vet them since we don't have databases or the one that thinks a refugee that has spent years in a refugee camp gives a government ample opportunity to find low risk refugees to vet.

These aren't refugees showing up at our border or simply picked at random. It's likely not even an egalitarian process. Those with skills or have helped the US in a material way (translators?) jump to the front of the line. At least that was true for Iraq and Afghanistan.

Where did you read we are taking those with skills?
when did Syrians help the USA like in Iraq or Afghanistan?
You are saying things with no proof and ignoring what is known. Provide proof if you have it
I am offering proof from the FBI Director and others we can not know who these people are< I guess you would believe the UN people , if they say the person is ok, well then bring them over.

    Today Josh Ernest said this
President Obama is standing by his decision to ramp up the admission of Syrian refugees to the United States even after three refugees from Islamic countries attacked people in Germany over the last week.
The 10,000 Syrian refugees the president wants to admit by October are subjected to more thorough screening and vetting than anyone trying to enter the United States, White House spokesman Josh Earnest stressed Monday.
"That's why the president has confidence ramping up the number of refugees admitted to the United States," Earnest told reporters during his daily briefing. "Obviously, almost all of them are innocent people fleeing violence in their own countries — some of them are innocents fleeing genocide."

See anything wrong with that? 6 mons ago we could not vet them. And 6 mons ago it took 18-24 mons to try to know who these people were. Now all of a sudden they are undergoing a thorough screening in 3 mons? Husker why do you believe that? Where is the information coming from.
Anything else in that statement troubling?

I think this particular topic,of allowing unknown Syrians etc into our country should just be left alone.
We will never find any common ground on how we vet these people
And I am unwilling to just blindly believe BO'S admin. Maybe the last straw was hearing that to BO "Almost all are innocent " is acceptable to him.
I am sure there will be another topic on which we disagree.
    This one seems finished.:smile1:

The BBC briefly wonders aloud -- "Is there a single, defining feature to these attacks?"
Answers its own question with - "NO."

When you see the pain and suffering that Europe is going through, you have to ask yourself why are we willing to take that chance?

Europe is screwed. It's too late for them. Islam will finally conquer Europe in the 21st century after hundreds of years of trying. They'll do it using Europe's self imposed immigration policies.

We're not in that boat yet, but if we pursue the same stupid policies as Europe we will be.

It looks like you do not believe BO when he says he is vetting these people more thoroughly that anyone trying to legally enter the USA. That is racist or something.
OR is it that you wonder what "almost all are innocent " means, Are you trying to figure out how many Americans killed by the not innocent refugees that BO wants to let into our country is acceptable to BO?
It looks like you do not trust BO> I can't imagine why:rolleyes1:

Obama is a snake oil vendor. Just Sunday he went on one of the talk shows and said that race relations are better than ever and we're safer than before 911, blah, blah, blah. If his lips are moving, he's probably lying.
