I guess I'm a bit of a contrarian w/r/t most posts on this subject.
First off, there are a whole bunch of bottom feeders in the other P5 conferences. Allways have been, always will be, not unique to what the Big12 might become in the short run.
Was a time that the SWC was dominated by the Horns and the Big8 was known as OU, NU, and the 6 dwarves.
And Texas did just fine with that backdrop for about 50 years. I know, times have changed. Duh.
Right now, IMHO, Texas has few options beyond bringing in, say 4, puppies to wean and maybe help rsise into big dogs.
Realistically, the SEC is pretty much set for a while. Dittto. B1G. Ditto Pac 14.
That leaves the ACC, as in THE ATLANTIC Coast, and non-P5 up and comers. Or call them cannon fodder for UT, OU, OsU, etc.
As long as it gives Texas a CC game and auto qualifier to work for, I'm cool with that.
Not going to get Bama, Meatchicken, tOSU, USC, etc to bolt and join the Big12. I know, hyperbolic comment, but neither are aggy, NU, Mizzou returning.
Hook 'em.
P.S., I'm much more concerned about how Texas football has sucked the past 2 years than what, if any, conference we're in. Right now I'm not so sure UT could easily handle a UH, Louisville, BYU, etc in football.
