to restore their voting rights. Child molesters , murderers, rapists, gun violence felons...you name it. Note, not all rights, like gun ownership, but voting rights.

Not saying people shouldn't get second chances after serving their sentence, although in life there are consequences for making bad mistakes that we have to live with, but...call me a little bit cynical, but do you guys think this is just a vote grab?

A vote grab? Pardoning felons and also opposing any reasonable voter ID laws so people don't have to prove they are who they say they are?

There's nothing moralistic behind this but pocketing more votes.

Even in the case of voter ID laws they could pass legislation to make it easier for people to obtain acceptable ID. That would be helping the less fortunate.

Instead they choose to basically take people's word for it which is acceptable nearly nowhere else in society. :rolleyes1: Especially when dealing with the government.

I can't imagine there is an easier way than most states including Texas offer to get people voter ID. Well except saying, sure no proof needed. We take your word.
Texas has so many ways to accommodate people who are elderly disabled can't drive don't live near DMV's
They accommodate elderly people who may not have birth certificates. They send mobile registration vans to smaller population area.
There are organizations that will drive elderly to get registered.
Surely there is still some responsibility for people to prove they should have the right/ privilege to vote?

You are preaching to the choir, I was being mild about my distaste for those fighting sensible voter ID laws just to secure more votes.

Citizens must show photo ID for countless vital transactions to function in daily life. To bypass such requirements for an important action like voting is absurd.

As you so well informed, those who have special hardships also have alternative means to obtain the items needed if they truly desire to vote.

Other states are trying to wipe out pre-registration requirements along with photo identification.

Basically it's giving a free pass to those who lack the responsibility and effort to follow the basic rules like everyone else.

And what party makes a living off catering to and allowing special exceptions to those who won't follow basic rules?

Sanctuary cities, free everything courtesy of the working class, damn the voter laws...yep same party.

How any middle class American votes for the current radical Dem agenda is mindboggling.

I guess they enjoy self-damaging policies, reduced after tax income, and increased cost of living from healthcare to basic commodities (guaranteed result of $15 min wage).

^ No kidding. I was just thinking that this morning while watching all of the news channels. Let's see:

    - Our Dem party admits that it rigged the primaries for our candidate.
    - Our candidate is a known liar. Most Americans do not trust her.
    - A former DNC chair plans to subvert the law and pardon thousands of convicted felons for votes. She is a close personal friend of our candidate.
    - At our Dem convention, we honor mothers whose children knowingly broke the law and were shot in the process, but fail to honor the families of policeman shot.
    - The world biggest problem terrorism is hardly mentioned.
    - Delegates are prohibited from their 1st amendment rights at our Dem convention.

Honestly, democrats pray on the stupid and the gullible. How in the world anyone votes for them is an enigma.

He probably subscribes to Obama's doctrine that lot's of those folks were racially discriminated against by the police. You know. They were stopped for driving while black and then drugs were found, etc.

Obama's emptying the federal prisons of drug offenders too. Next he'll want to restore their voting rights and allow them to use the bathroom of their choice. It's just the Left making the country a better, more safer place to live.

Julian Castro, head of HUD, put out a dictate a few months back that any landlord that won't rent to felons is guilty of racial discrimination and will be subject to HUD penalties. Felons are the Lefts new darlings.

In related news, John Hinckley Jr was released by a Federal Judge to live with his mother in Virginia. Someone let McAuliffe know because surely Hinckley is a Democrat.

Yes THIS "Basically it's giving a free pass to those who lack the responsibility and effort to follow the basic rules like everyone else" is the crux of the issue.

It doesn't look like anyone thinks there should be personal responsibility anymore.

The judge held that all you need to show is a utility bill... something a non citizen can obtain. The courts want an absurdly low standard for registering to vote.

This is no different than the immigration issue to Dems - they don't give a rat's *** about the public, they just want the votes.
