Reality doesn’t exist until it is observed?

Quantum mechanics is weird. Do we have any physicists here?

By replicating a famous experiment where an object is given a choice for how to behave, physicists found that the object doesn’t actually make its decision until it is seen. The finding proves one of the central parts of quantum theory, a branch of science that has been applied to make much of our modern technology.

Isn't that because seeing isn't passive on such small scales? You have to affect an object to be able to see it, because something has to bounce off the object and back to the observer.

Wow, when physics meets philosophy! Every time I hear the word quantum now I think of the movie Interstellar, love that movie.

I think there's definitely something to that. What's so weird and interesting to me is that all the "big" stuff is simply made of all the "small" stuff, yet they behave in different ways. If I understand it correctly this is where the unified theory is lacking - how to reconcile the quantum world from the macro world that we interact with. Or do we really interact with it like we think we do?

Upon further review, it would appear that we exist in a digital simulation.
