Sedona has reopened her recruitment, per ProspectsNation's Twitter.

Anyone think Coach Aston changes her stance on accepting these commits so early? Collier, Richards, now Prince. I'm rather confused by Sedona's decommitment, she seemed to really like the Thompson hire.

Can't really see a change since that seems to be the trend. Unfortunately, I can understand recruits wanting to see what else is out there as they continue to get better. And it may simply be a matter of wanting to visit other campuses and being upfront with the staff about that. Not to mention that a change in a post college goal may also result in reexamining the school selected to see whether that school is still the best choice.

Absolutley not, you have to get in early with recruits, if they decommit then so be it. It will allow you to continue to evaluate and recruit prospects. For the recruit and coaching staff there is plenty of time, there really is no down side. I'm not worried about a 2017 or 2018 recruit decommitting, if a 2016 recruit decommits, that's when i'll be worried.

My primary concern is, from what I've seen, women's basketball players who decommit don't usually end up at their original school. Nneka is the only UT decommit-recommit I can think of but I've only been following WBB recruiting for 4-5 years. You are right though, if we start losing players in the 2016 class, alarm bells will be in order.

As it stands, the only non-2016 commits on board are the UT legacies, correct? Shae Routt and Deja Kelly?

I understand what you're saying, Didi, Charli, and Sedona are terrific recruits. But when you think about it, we have about a year and a half before national signing day for the class of 2017 and about two and a half for 2018. So if they don't recommit, the coaching staff has plenty of time to evaluate and identify other quality recruits.

I agree that 2017 and '18 aren't the priority right now. But I also think if top recruits want to commit early, in most instances programs are happy to have them, even though odds are greater they may open the process back up at some point. And that's fine IMO. The reality is only 5 of 85 players on the HG 2017 and '18 lists have committed at this point. For the Horns to have had 3 commits from these classes so far out was probably a bit ambitious, but also indicative of how many top recruits are considering the program these days. Given the number of top players we have in our 2014-2016 classes, and how quickly the program has progressed these past few seasons, I have no doubt we'll see continued success on the recruiting front in 2017 and beyond. And in particular if we continue our upward trajectory, and have the kind of results most expect us to these next few years.

I think each decommitment should be viewed individually.

Charli Collier decommitted, but did not attend the Texas summer camp. She attended the Baylor camp, and also traveled with several other teammates to camps at Kansas, Tennessee, and Louisville, I believe.

Didi decommitted, but still attended the Texas summer camp; she also attended the Baylor camp.

Sedona attended the Texas summer camp, and none others (at least none reported). She goes off to play with USA basketball, returns home, and then decommits.

Better now than closer to their respective LOI signing dates. If they want to play for Texas, and the coaching staff continues to recruit them, then great. Time will tell.

    Moooooo,

Thanks for the posts. Sounds like we are still be in good shape with Sedona and a good season could put Coach K and Texas squarely back in it for Charli.

Really sounds like they just want to look at other options. Can't blame them for that. But I do like that both Sedona and Didi (who had already decommitted) came to the Texas camp.

Well, perhaps it is a good idea that Coach A scheduled a game in Little Rock this Fall . . .

    I know she's a 2020 but saw these yesterday:

    And sporting UT colors:

Even more impressive considering she is playing with 2016s and 2017s.

9 of the top 41 are from Texas. It would be nice to get Zarielle Green from Duncanville as well.

almost forgot about Tatum Veitenheimer, 5-7 PG from Windhorst, Tx and coached by Texas ex Heather Schreiber. I am sure the coaches at taking a look at her. She is ranked #40 overall and is the #8 PG. She is the #2 PG from Texas.

Tatum did visit Tennessee unofficially recently; think it was late summer.
