The BLM website states as one of BLM's goals:

"We are committed to disrupting the Western prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and "villages" that collectively care for one another and especially "our" children to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable." (emphasis added)

So much for mentioning daddy specifically.

    Per the 2012 Census:

Black Man Head of Household (no spouse): Average Income: $33,860 (9.7% of black population)
Black Woman Head of Household (no spouse): Average Income: $25,594 (43.9% of black population)
Black Married Couples: Average Income: $65,914 (46.3% of black population)

    Another goal:

"...As we forge our path we intentionally build and nurture a beloved community that is bonded together through a beautiful struggle that is restorative, not depleting" (emphasis added)

That sounds like a declaration to return to tribalistic African roots. No doubt that's the idea, a reclamation of the culture and values of the motherland. Why else would 'Western' be mentioned?

It's not such a bad idea if it means group raising of children. At least someone will be doing it since many of the kids are all but abandoned and grow up on the streets.

However, with tribal seclusion (which is considered racist by American standards, not mine) also comes war with other 'tribes' that are perceived threats to the community.

That's an absolute fact of history throughout all of time. Tribes turn to war either...
    1) In an attempt to expand owned territory
    2) In defense of perceived threats to their own community

It's no different than the Muslim "no go" zones now in Europe. Tribes took over entire neighborhoods and even local police are not allowed to enter.

Either way you slice it, war always follows tribal seclusion.

I think the overwhelming majority of BLM supporters never see their agenda or give it much thought. They like the organization because of its name and think it's about stopping police brutality. However, if you look at their stated agenda, they are seriously ****** up. I'd call it communist, but it's really even more screwed up than that. Frankly, this is common with political organizations. A group will gain some traction using issues that arguably have some broad appeal like racial justice and then use the credibility they gain from that appeal to push an extreme agenda.

I read the official Black Lives Matter website and was shocked at some of the rhetoric and goals.
I would be surprised if 80% of the BLM supporters had any idea of the history or agenda of this organization.

There are other statistics that show 72% of black children being born to single mothers, and being raised by single parents or adults that are not the parents. There is not much more to do to "disrupt" the nuclear family structure of blacks, but I guess they want to try.

It seems more like, "We Give Up".

If you have trouble (economic or otherwise) raising your own children, is it a good idea to pawn that responsibility off to others that are having the same trouble?

Nowhere on the website did BLM address correcting the actual problems facing the black community.

Absolutely correct. It is interesting to think about political power and it's effects on your own culture. Arguably, the Asian culture is the most successful culture in America, yet they are not active in politics to the same extent as other cultures. Instead, they are outworking and out-educating everyone else. I don't think I have ever seen an Asian protest.

Much of what BLM, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc. preach just brings dislike/bias upon their communities, which thwarts their progress. They are not, historically, the only culture that has experienced this blowback.

Agree. 90%+ of those marchers likely have no idea what the goals of the leaders are. They are there to protest the treatment of blacks by police or in the case of U of Missouri by other students.

Anyone whose intention is to tear apart their leadership motives, the facts of individual incidents and generally disparage the protesters is tone deaf. POTUS' Obama and Bush pleaded all sides to listen more. I'd urge those that are capable to do so. For those that refuse to listen and simply attack (e.g. extremist media and their puppets) then I'd accuse each of you contributing to the strife.

Nothing new here. I remember episodes from the 1960's sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies where Jethro, the family dimwit, would go the college to be part of the protest. It was the cool place to be - even though he didn't have a clue what the protests were about.

Was sucked into a social media conversation similar to this. The girl in question posted something about why correcting "Black Lives Matter" with "All Lives Matter" was offensive to many African Americans, and immediately a couple of people jumped in with denouncements of the movement (the vast majority of which were likely true.) But her concern wasn't about the movement leaders or the "fringe elements", but about the basic premise that black people are killed every day in this country, and people don't really seem to care unless there's a protest. (I'm not fully agreeing with this, but there's some validity to it.)

Those types of people don't care about those other agendas and typically aren't interested in talking about it. Their focus is on the societal goal they're trying to achieve, and they'll march with whoever is willing to push that narrative. Republicans (Trump supporters, I'm looking at you) ought to be able to identify with that somewhat.

Based on statistics, the BLM "narrative" is built on incorrect facts. You can always find a doofus to make or back a "moral" argument when no facts exist to verify a "problem".

We call that having a set of values and experiences on which to base decisions. I guess some people wake up with a blank memory bank everyday. Repeatedly ignoring history and starting from scratch is limiting. We call those people uneducated.

Nah...we just lead our lives differently. Your world view appears to be shaped by your values and was decided long ago. I'm consistently looking for new information to determine if my world view is accurate or needs to be updated. Uneducated? Pfft! Closed vs. Open minded is a more accurate description, IMHO.

Those who buy into the entire BLM agenda (or even most of it) are fools.

Those who fail to recognize that there is some merit to the BLM viewpoint are fooling themselves.

There have been studies that have come out of late calling into question the narrative that black people are more likely to be shot than white people in confrontations with police. But I don't know that anyone seriously disputes that the majority of blacks in America have been stopped, interrogated, followed, watched or in other ways viewed as a potential threat based on skin color. I don't know how anyone can deny that this does happen. So bearing that in mind, can we see why those rational, logical stats (which are very possibly correct) would be taken with skepticism? Do we get why those people would be prone to see themselves as potential targets?

So you can't just assume that you can just explain away real issues of discrimination by pointing out that the movement has a craptacular record of picking poster kids.

If something happens to the child because of the delay in getting care, BLM should get sued.

I'm guessing this population is a very low % of being a part of BLM.

    Mr D.
Is there a BLM organization with assets or even insurance or something to sue?

Another question, if over 70% of black babies are born to single mothers aren't the 46.3 % of black population that are married havng any children?

They've become pretty large. It wouldn't surprise me if they have money or liability insurance of some kind. The tricky party would be whether or not the Tennessee courts would impose tort liability for personal injuries caused by a protest in which there was no intent to harm the child and in which they likely didn't even know about the child being sick.

What that suggests is that the single moms are having babies faster than the married moms.

No doubt they're targets since blacks commit an unusual amount of the crimes given their percentage of the population. But the BLM movement is about the "unusual amount of Black Lives being taken by the pigs". The stats don't match the rhetoric.

There is that "intent" word again. From an insurance standpoint, it would seem that they intended to block the road, but didn't intend to hurt someone. It does seem as though they did not act prudently, and they were, therefore, negligent. If they have a liability policy, it would probably have to pay out assuming bodily injury to the child (which does not seem to be the case).

However, I seriously doubt any company would insure BLM.

These #BlackLivesMatter, #AllLivesMatter, #AllLivesdidntMatter stuff is too confusing. It also seems pretty passive aggressive to start dialogues by hash tagging stuff. Do people really want to solve this? Want empathy from other? Really talk to people different than us and learn from them? Uh no...they want to #hashtag the $&!^t of things.

And this Trump is an anti-semite because they used a 6 pointed star for clip art in a tweet? How stupid are people today? Trump has a jewish grandchild - I can't say 100% that he's not racist against jewish people, but I'd say I'm 90% sure because of common sense. Are six-pointed stars offensive now? Trump is many disagreeable things. But as a grandfather of a jewish baby, he doesn't strike me as self-hating.

This stupidity didn't happen 20 years ago or even 10 years because we didn't have this stinking hell of absurdity called Twitter.

I feel so bad for children today. They are growing up in a world of normalized idiocy. You think Iraq was bad? Two words...Race War.

Do not forget that Trump fought the establishment in Palm Beach Fla when he took over MiraLago(sp?) and insisted on allowing Jews and blacks to belong.
