I like those guys and hope they do well wherever they go. southflorida.247sports.com/Bolt/USF-bringing-in-offensive-coordinator-from-Texas-50119611 A source close to the program has informed Bulls247 that former Texas offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert is expected to join Charlie Strong's staff at USF in the same role. Gilbert, who is 38 years old, has four years of coordinator experience at Eastern Illinois (2012-2013), Bowling Green (2014), Tulsa (2015) and Texas (2016). Another former Texas coach expected to join the offensive coaching staff is Matt Mattox. Mattox will coach offensive line at USF, he and Gilbert have been together at Eastern Illinois (2013), Bowling Green (2014), Tulsa (2015) and Texas (2016).
I'm surprised USF could afford those guys. I wonder if they received backloaded contracts with income from another NCAA program making up the difference for a couple of years?
I am going to follow USF next year. It will be interesting to see what Strong and Gilbert/Maddox can do together in year two. Albeit, somewhere else with different players. If they light it up, that means the Mack Brown curse is some serious serious ****, and Herman will need to seek a good curandera to get the MB mojo off of us.
Good luck to those guys. I think Mack, Sally, Dodds and DKR's widow showing up at Hermans introductory press conference shows all bad mojo has been lifted. I don't remember seeing any of them at Strongs.
