And like most internet memes, it's wrong or at best highly deceptive. The last Republican to balance the budget was a team consisting of Newt Gingrich, John Kasich, Bob Dole, and Pete Domenici. The last Democrat to balance the budget was Lyndon Johnson.

Psyche! Jason Miller decided he didn't want the job. Kudos to him for putting family first as that was probably a very tough choice. I'm taking Miller at his word. Spicer will also be Director of Communications.

Dan Scavino may have the most difficult job in the Trump administration as Director of Social Media.

    Good lord --

There is a report that Lindsey Graham and John McCain blocked Kris Kobach appointment to head DHS over Kobach’s opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens

Will Tom Price be confirmed as HHS Secretary? According to the WSJ, he profited $300k in stock trades of 40 companies in which committees he worked on had direct oversight. Not surprisingly, the Senate Dem leadership is screaming for an ethics investigation. I'm sure this is impacting the Trump admin's ability to repeal the ACA never factored into this call for an investigation. :smh:

Former CIA Director James Woolsey has left the transition team. No reason was given but he was the most critical surrogate about Trump's embracing of Assange yesterday in interviews.

Good riddance. The swamp remains in finance but maybe Trump will at least attempt to drain out some of the muck in the intelligence agencies.

The incestuous relationship of government officials and insider trading is pervasive. Members of Congress asking for an ethics investigation have an opportunity to look holier than thou in these things - so long as they aren't the ones being investigated. Hence their attempt to remove the ethics committee a few days back.

Woolsey is a long time Dem. He had senior positions in both the Carter and Clinton admins. Yet leaving Team Trump now has made more news than when he joined.
Why do you suppose that is?

And the person Kerry married didn't earn it either. She married it, and the guy she married inherited it.

Looks like there will be an entirely "new team of ambassadors" and staffing of embassies.
I suspect the current bunch are a combination of democrat cronies and CIA operatives - all of which might very well stab Trump in the back given an opportunity. This swamp will be drained. Hopefully better creatures will be chosen to replace the current vermin.

There is always an entirely new team of ambassadors when a new president comes in. The issue is that past presidents have let ambassadors in key posts stay in place for a transition period, until their replacement is appointed. Trump says he wants them all gone on 1/20, even if a successor is not in place yet. This has nothing to do with draining the swamp -- it is replacing Obama's cronies with Trump's cronies.

As an example, the latest rumor is that Woody Johnson, owner of the NY Jets and heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, will be the ambassador to the UK. I'm sure this has more to do with his vast diplomatic experience than his donations to and fundraising for Trump, of course.

There's no question it's a swap of one group for another. A new group of oligarchs will be running the show. And while I'm sure neither group gives a damn what American citizens want, perhaps Trump's groups won't damage America's standing in the world as the Bush and Clinton regimes. Perhaps.

And this is why I thought it was ironic (in another thread) that he made fun of Obama picking Caroline Kennedy to be ambassador to Japan when she had no qualifications for the job. And of course, it was even more ironic that this criticism was coming from a guy with no experience who was running for a far more consequential job.

    Mr D,
What experience do you think is more applicable to be POTUS that Trump
    does not have?

Trump was not in my top 6 But I felt even those in my top group did not have as much life/world experience as Trump. Rubio for one. Certainly BO had no experience.

I get the irony on the current topic. Aside from that I've always rejected the notion previous political experience is the gold standard qualifier for POTUS.

In today's corrupt political climate it's actually a hindrance. Party over country is sadly the flavor of Washington, and it's been that way for decades.

IMHO, a real estate/business mogul who spent five decades building a multi-faceted international empire is far more qualified than a community organizer/lawyer/IL State and 1-term U.S. Senator.

Sure there is catch up on political process and historical background, but nothing an intelligent, highly successful, CEO of a multiple industry company can't navigate.

The President is often narrowly viewed as simply the top political position. Now more than ever, it's more akin to the CEO of America, IMHO.

The person in charge of all divisions dealing with political, military, civil, etc concerns on a domestic and international level. It's always been this way, but technology and expanded global connection has made it far more diverse and complicated.

While the Senator was busy pushing a party agenda and working towards re-election, the int'l CEO was working tirelessly on one thing...every decision is made towards success for his organization.

Now that we're going to apply that same strategy to all divisions of America, Inc., monumental things will get accomplished in the best interest of our country.

Well that is if he can get the spoken for politicians to move aside just far enough to run this organization efficiently.

It's no head-scratcher to me why he's added super successful business leaders to his cabinet. Politicians have their roles too, but he also wants guys out there leading the charge who know how to get sh*t done in the real world.

As far as requesting all political diplomats vacate by Jan 20 did not BO do the same thing? Did he give anyone an extension?

These people like all politically appointed people in the past knew on election day they were out if their party did nit win. So they have had 2 months notice.

A successful governor probably has the best experience for the presidency. The Senate is not a particularly good base of experience, unless it's a Senator with significant accomplishment. Guys like Obama, Rubio, and Cruz effectively had no experience.

Exactly which is why even at the time I preferred Rubio I did know he had less experience than someone like Trump

Trump has for decades operated at increasingly higher levels with working with CEOS and world leaders in negotiations requiring compromise.
The amount of money he worked with while not Federal gov't levels is large enough that it will not be unfamiliar to him.

I agree a governor has similar experience to a potus.
What experience could a governor have that Trump does not? I would bet Trump has as much experience working with world leaders as all but maybe 2 state gov.

Trump def opened a can of worms with his outsider win.

I'm already hearing Zuckerberg being touted as a possible 2020 candidate. Seriously, a software developer who'll barely be age eligible (35) for the office when he swears in? :rolleyes1:

Bloomberg bluffed it a few times and might have decided to finally try a Trump if he wasn't going to turn 78 in 2020.

Wouldn't surprise me to see the overnight super wealthy (tech, etc), fortune inheritors, and the like falsely believing they are the same ilk as Trump.

Somebody in 2020 is gonna fall into this false sense of confidence..."I'm super rich and successful and if Trump could do it, I surely could".

The problem is that business experience and government experience aren't similar. Nevertheless, for most voters, the issue of candidate qualifications is BS. That's why millions of voters who were happy to support Obama lamented Trump's lack of experience. A candidate's experience serves little purpose other than to reinforce the decision we've already made so that we feel like our choice is less superficial than it actually is. If Hillary Clinton's politics resembled yours and Trump's were in opposition to yours, you'd talk about her experience as SoS, US Senator, etc., and as I'm doing now, you'd start seeing the distinction between being in business and being in government. However, since you like Trump's politics, he could have spent the last 40 years as a gay porn star, and you'd come up with a rationale for why that makes him a perfect fit for the White House.
