During the general campaign, this was my #1 issue -- who would get to shape the SCOTUS and federal judiciary for the next 4-8 years. I argued that we could not let it be Hillary (more than I argued it had to be Trump). Indeed, it does look like Trump will have the opportunity to fill more judicial vacancies than any first-term President in four decades. This is yuge.

    A few notes--
-- Trump does not need re-election to fill all of these vacancies. He may have to (and can) do it in less than 2 years
-- Thanks to Harry Reid, nominees in states with 2 R senators will be confirmed with ease. Texas, for example, has 2 open 5th Cir seats, and no problem in the Senate (Cruz & Cornyn), Trump will be able to swing for the fences here.
-- In states with 1 Dem Senator, the "blue slip" will be last resort to block nominees. The question becomes how long Grassley (chair of Judiciary Com) will honor them. If the Dems overplay their hand and force Grassley to drop the blue slip policy, all vacancies can be filled in 2 years, while Trump is assured the majority. And these appointments can and will last for 30 years

here is a blurb on some of his choices for the 5th

The leaking of information from the intelligence community is a serious issue and should be investigated. Of course, this also speaks to the extreme miscalculation by Trump that he could spend months deriding and ridiculing them than not think there would be some consequence. The bull behavior was great in stoking his base but in reality there is recourse. The Twitter POTUS doesn't have all the power. Hopefully Trump learns from this and tempers his tough talk with our allies.

^^ Bill passage is the main reason the Democrats are delaying Cabinet votes (see above)
Their goal is to slow the progress of Rep bills during first 100 days

With little to no media fanfare, the Trump's presidency is seeing uptick in arrests involving child exploitation

This Trump speech about the media is amazing. Not sure I have ever seen a direct attack like this from a President. It's like FDR talking about the Japanese. I am suspicious he may have pulled some of it from my own posts about the media

You guys were right. I find that I have already forgotten about it. When I turn to the front page, on the right are the list of latest posts, and sometimes I see 'Ignored Member' - and I actually had the thought today -- "what a weird user name." But then I was like "doh! oh yeah." Heh

What you are describing is the latest surge by the "National John Suppression Initiative", which has happening since 2011. Link. The theory is that typical anti-prostitution efforts are ineffective because they focus on the prostitutes. Every once in a while, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies around the country (coordinated by the Cook County, IL sheriff) launch a concerted effort to nab sex buyers and sex traffickers. All told, the program has resulted in over 6,500 arrests. The majority of the perps are sex buyers, whose names and pictures are publicized -- a bigger punishment than the misdemeanor offense they are charged with. A minority of the 6,500 are sex traffickers, most of whom are local johns who face somewhat stiffer but still relatively minor criminal charges. But every time they do this, there are some bigger fish busted for involvement in large prostitution rings, often involving minors and/or sex slaves. All of this is great stuff, and the law-enforcement officers involved deserve praise.

Your suggestion, though, that Trump deserves even an iota of credit is absurd. I don't know whether the White House has ever been involved in any of this, so I'm not prepared to give credit to any president. However, if I were so inclined, I would note that the program began in 2011 and this year's initiative began in early January. Thus, if any president deserves praise, it is Obama, not Trump.

    I was watching Trump
Sentence one you make a strong claim with an absolute
As you may know, absolutes are usually easy to undo
So, then, in sentence two you did that yourself, I didnt even have to do anything

If you watched the presser, or if you plan to later, try and remember how they treated Obama back at his first presser. At this time, this reporter was at the NYT but, after CNN saw just how far he could stick his nose up Obama's butt, CNN hired him away

I said that President Trump doesn't deserve any credit whatsoever, and nothing I said later contradicts that. I did acknowledge the small possibility that President Obama deserves some credit, but even that is doubtful.

It was entertaining. I credit Trump for taking questions from a variety of media. His responses were typical DJT. Some misinformation, some valid criticisms but lots of bullying. Some statements were incoherent. For example, the leaks are real but the news is fake. WTF?

There was some news tidbits in the middle. Trump hinted that he'll extend Obama's DACA EO.
