Not much to say about a convicted murdering SOB, except the tax payers will be spared $$$ keeping him in prison.

And now, they're forming battle lines to duke it out for his million$. His victims' family want and probably deserve the majority, but in the end, most will probably go to the lawyers involved.

Does he have any money left? I assumed the lawyers took it all.

If I had to defend that selfish, murdering sob, I'd want a lot of money for it.
I love how even now his attorney is saying "no chance" it was a suicide.

I say "fat chance" someone snuck into his secure cell, overpowered a giant world class athlete and strangled him with a bedsheet.

I'm not a big death penalty proponent, but it's preferable to use it on murderers than people who inadvertently "disrespected" a gangster wannabe.

    Crockett,

Just curious if you think that a prisoner from Houston in the most maximum security prison the federal government owns actually died of a heart attack with no one present?

I have no knowledge of that situation Sabre Horn, so even as opinionated as I am, I've got no opinion.

    WM,

I'm having difficulty imagining what the back of our ambulances would look like without the three wannabe lawyers on that back bumper. Not sure about other cities, but I think Houston City Ordinance states no more than 3 lawyers can ride on the back of one ambulance at the same time.

I've only met one lawyer I didn't like. Of course, I've never met a Muslim I didn't like.

Crockett, I'm surprised that you got to your age and have only met three attorneys. Then again, I didn't know you had met my two children. :beertoast:

Having lost a brother to CTE (former player at Arkansas who committed suicide after turning into a person none of us knew anymore), the fact that AH's brain is now basically being held hostage by the ME for an autopsy, doesn't pass the smell test. By all accounts he was a freak of nature athlete at Bristol Central High School, whose problems didn't show up until he was at Gainesville.

By no means am I attempting to make any excuses for a kid that suddenly turned into a wannabee gangster, with a trail of body bags in his wake. But a disinterested examination of the brain for CTE, would benefit the living. Nothing can undo what has happened. But the NCAA and the NFL got big problems potentially if an autopsy shows traumatic brain injuries that are only 8-10 years old.

The notes from my brother's autopsy showed injuries to the brain in excess of 30 years old. That would have been consistent with when he was winning a Sugar Bowl at Arkansas.

Again offering AH no slack or excuses. But if CTE contributed to his abhorrent acts, that needs to be known.

My condolences to you for the loss of your brother. I agree that CTE needs to be studied. My son is twenty and played a little football in junior high, but he was small and basically adopted the old, "Discretion is the better part of valor" method of survival. He never got hit in the head and "retired" from football when he entered high school. So I have no skin in the game anymore as a parent worried about CTE.

My question is this; think of all the players over the years going back what, a hundred years? How many turned out like Hernandez? Maybe CTE exacerbates whatever core character issues lurk on the inside. I don't know. It seems he was a handful by the time he reached campus at U of F; was that from high school concussions?

    I guess only God knows.

The CTE issue is real. A Cowboys fan since 1970, I'm ashamed to admit that I used to be critical of Tony Dorsett, who would avoid sideline collisions and step out of bounds (as requested by Tex Schramm). He still made a lot of yards and took a lot of hits. He now suffers from CTE. Man, I was a jerk.

Don't feel bad. I didn't blame him for running out of bounds but I've been skinny all my life so I get preserving the internal organs! The guy who was hard on people was Jim Brown who mocked Franco Harris mercilessly for not selling out on every play.

Hernandez's brain has now been released to the Boston University CTE Study, considered th Gold Standard on the subject. Again, in no way would advanced CTE make AH less culpable, but going forward it could be a valuable tool in prevention, early detection, and the saving of lives. It was just a few years ago that our own Shane Dronett fell victim and left behind a wife and two beautiful kids. Just glad we will know if CTE was involved in this horrible train wreck.
