From Reuters -- reminder this is only Day 85 of the new administration

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-immigration-mothers-insight-idUSKBN17F23M

In December, 16,000 parents and children were apprehended; in March, a month in which immigration typically increases because of temperate weather, the number was just over 1,100…

Trump has spoken about the need to crack down broadly on all illegal immigrants. But, internally, according to the DHS officials familiar with the department’s strategy, his administration has focused on one immigrant group more than others: women with children, the fastest growing demographic of illegal immigrants. This planning has not been previously reported.

In the months since Trump’s inauguration, DHS has rolled out a range of policies aimed at discouraging women from attempting to cross the border, including tougher initial hurdles for asylum claims and the threat of prosecuting parents [as human traffickers] if they hire smugglers to get their families across the border…

For months, Central Americans had heard about Trump’s get-tough policies. And public service announcements on radio and television presented bleak pictures of what awaited those who traveled north. Some of the ads were funded by the United States, others by United Nations agencies and regional governments.

The PR idea seems clear. To publicize far and wide the possibility of that mothers would be separated from their children upon apprehension and detention. This campaign alone has come close to stopping this subgroup of illegal border crossers cold.

AS an adjunct to that new policy Trump officials are rewriting the regs concerning illegals who have been arrested and are awaiting deportation. Obama put in some regs that are asinine and need to be stopped now.
For instance BO's rule was a detainee's request for medical attention MUST be evaluated within 24hours by a professional. THIS IS BS
Our men and women who offered their lives in service to our country wait weeks and months.
Thank you President Trump for stopping the coddling of illegals who have been arrested and are being deported.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Encouraged by a sharp downturn in illegal border crossers, the US administration is ramping up a crackdown on undocumented immigrants, taking aim at both Central American laborers and Indian tech workers in Silicon Valley.

Police, prosecutors and judges have been ordered to take a harder line against all illegal immigrants, detaining anyone without papers and vigorously prosecuting more of them.

Indeed. It's tough not to feel sorry for these people who SCREAM! that Trump broke all his campaign promises, after less than 3 months in office. They got it bad.

DACA is still the law. Therefore, he's not deporting all illegal immigrants as promised. Personally, I don't have a big problem with DACA. However, considering that Trump won the nomination in large part by taking a no-compromise, "kick-em-all-out" approach, I think it's fair to hold him to that standard.

^ And they should be. That is not saying all illegals will be deported but they for damn sure should be subject to enforcement.

Man stuck his head in and asked Spicer if he needed any help.
Man was told, "No, I got this"
Unclear if confused media recognized man.

Actually yes, exactly, but I can see why his most partisan supporters would backpedal from it.

Even the Liberal MSM acknowledged DT modified his stance on illegal immigration before the election.

If he was trying to hide it from supporters, I doubt he'd have voiced the changes during a nationally televised interview on 60 minutes.

    Here's a New York Times article written pre-election (Nov. 13, 2016) about Trump's 60 Minutes interview...

Donald Trump Appears to Soften Stance on Immigration, but Not on Abortion

"On immigration, he said the wall that he has been promising to build on the nation's southern border might end up being a fence in places. But he said his priority was to deport two million to three million immigrants he characterized as dangerous or as having criminal records, a change from his original position that he would deport all of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country. President Obama has deported more than two million undocumented immigrants during his time in office.

Mr. Trump said that undocumented immigrants who are not criminals are 'terrific people', and that he would decide how to handle them after the border is secure."

You guys are absolutely comical to watch. Is Trump paying you guys? This is Musberger-level trollery and diversion. LOL.

This entire topic was discussed at length during the threads for the primary and general elections. Its all there, perhaps you were not around or have forgotten? No one (besides you) wants to relitigate it. Why dont you just go back and re-read those instead? This would be easier for all.

Nobody's relitigating anything. He won the primary and the general election. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is a moot point, because it's over. However, the truth isn't a moot point, and I'm not going to pretend that he didn't take a position that he very clearly took, particularly on the defining issue of his candidacy.

What you and Brad are doing is throwing up diversions (like blabbing about his positions and statements after the nomination was secured) and tossing out euphemisms to avoid calling him a flip-flopper or a liar, and that's OK. It's a team sport to you guys, and you're on Team Trump, so you're going to spin things in whatever way makes him look good. Personally, I'm on Team Truth. I'm going to commend Trump when he does good things and keeps promises, but I'm also going to call BS on him when he breaks promises, flip-flops, or does stupid things. And on this, he has very, very clearly flip-flopped. It's a gradual flip-flop that was months in the making, but it's a flip-flop. I'm not even saying the flip-flop is a bad thing. I always thought the idea of deporting everybody was a stupid idea, but again, truth matters.

You have publicly claimed your position to be -- "the truth matters"
But what your previous actions and words show is that you only hold one side of the political spectrum to this standard
By doing this, you reveal yourself to be unprincipled

When Obama clearly lied or flip-flopped or did stupid things, I called him on it and did so here on several occasions. I didn't give him a pass in any sense.

The question posed to you above was an honest one.
Why did you not object to Obama lying his *** off at the time he was doing so?
Yet now regularly make a big deal out of Trump's first few months?
How do you explain your silence or acquiescence back then?

I only have one point. The same standard should be applied to both sides.
I do not object to you or the other ones pointing out Trump's inconsistencies. IMO, it is entirely fair. Even deserved.

I do object to the fact that you did not do the same with Obama at the time. Which makes this sudden new stand of yours "for truth" hypocritical. You want truth? Well there it is.

Thus far, I've seen flip-flops, failures, and hints of more to come.
The biggest flop would be the end of a policy of regime changes and America first. We are currently amping up troop numbers in Afghanistan and Syria, not to mention the NATO countries bordering Russia.
On the failure, the obvious realization there was no plan to replace Obamacare, and the inability to get a tax cut and/or budget through Congress.
On economics, Trump is hinting at resurrecting corporate friendly TTIP which he railed against pre-election.
From my perspective, he's either been completely co-opted or he pulled off his greatest con job of his career.

This is just nonsense. I called BS on Obama numerous times.

And if you don't mind my pointing out Trump's inconsistencies, then why throw up diversions? Why pretend the inconsistency on immigration doesn't exist? Why not just acknowledge them? Or even if you want to lick his balls a little, you could argue that it's too early to judge. But instead, you play games, and when I called you on them, you attacked me.

The mistake you make is thinking of him in terms of a professional politician
    That he is not.

He is not an ideologue either, which is a great source of frustration for both sides, but especially his own side. So, trying to analyze him using this model will always fail.
