Wonder who is going to end up bailing out the People's Republic of Illinois?

The Libs in Illinois foolishly believe raising state income tax rates will combat the problem. Even worse they already have the 7th highest sales tax rate in the country.

Typical Lib logic thinks raising taxes equals more revenue to pay expenses. :rolleyes1: They completely ignore the offsetting flight and far more harmful economic consequences.

This is exactly why DT is trying to drastically lower the US corp tax rate. Sky high rates cause massive flight and harm to the economy far outweighs higher tax collections.

Lower rates typically don't cause a strong decline in tax collections as more companies relocate back to the system and every dollar they contribute is pure gain.

We won't even get into what remittances under open border policies does to the economy. But as usual it's another thing CA leaders ignore at the peril of their economy.

It's clear as day the Libs running the show in CA and IL have no f'n clue how economics and finance works.

Higher individual state income tax, higher corp state income tax, AND higher sales and local tax. Hmmmm, I wonder why people/businesses are fleeing...

CA (ind) - 8+% on income over $50k
    CA (corp) - 8.84%
CA (sales tax) - 8.25% (state and local)

    IL (ind) - 4.95% (increasing from 3.75%)
    IL (corp) - 7% (increasing from 5.25%)
IL (sales tax) - 8.64% (state and local)

    TX (ind) - none
TX (corp) - 1% (at highest category)
TX (sales tax) - 8.19% (state and local)

Maybe CA and IL can get together and have a Paying the Bills Ban. That might help in their predicament.

Wow...Obama's incompetence and frivolous wasting of public funds is endless.

Phones for Dead People: GAO Report Uncovers Massive Fraud in ‘Obamaphone’ Program

The Government Accountability Office did a 3-year study and found 3.8 million people with free ObamaPhone's (and free service) and are likely ineligible.

Some people are using names of the deceased, some are second phones for same person, and others couldn't prove they were eligible.

What I found even more absurd about the program...

Consumers are directly paying (service charge on bill) for the cell service of the 10.6 million Americans who have a free ObamaPhone. $9 billion worth from 2013-16.

"Originally conceived during the Reagan administration, Lifeline was initially meant to provide poor people with a phone in case of an emergency or, as time went on, to apply for a job.

Administered by the Federal Communications Commission, Lifeline now requires telecommunication companies (At&t, Verizon, Sprint) to pay a percentage of their voice service revenues into a pool called the Universal Service Fund that is administered by an independent nonprofit company called the Universal Service Administrative Company. Telecom companies pass on the cost of their contributions to consumers, whose monthly bill includes a “universal service fee” charge.

The three-year GAO investigation found that the program has put away more than “$9 billion, as of September 2016 outside the Department of the Treasury in a private bank account.”

    :idk:
Are you saying there is fraud, waste, and abuse within a government program?

Alert the press, this is a first!

Oh wait, it happened during Obama's term, guess very little will be reported on this event.

Seriously, Illinois should raise the sales tax to 20% to solve their fiscal issues. Less people on the payroll (due to mass exodus) is what their liberal politicians deserve.

At some point, give the people the consequences of what they voted for. Innocent victims? Sure, but consider it advanced warning for even worst behavior in the future.

That's a fair point, nationalism is not the same as patriotism. A nationalist relishes his country's culture and heritage. A patriot loves his country, but isn't necessarily a nationalist.

Trump is a nationalist and a patriot. I don't think there's any doubt he loves America.

Obama is a globalist. He wants to do away with our borders and seems ashamed of our heritage. I would rate Obama as tepid when it comes to patriotism. He sought the Presidency because he wanted to change the country as much as possible, not because he loved it. He accelerated the movement to rewrite American history. You'll note that he's the only one in the article's picture that doesn't have his hand over his heart.

True, Obama is definitely not a nationalist. I'd argue he so believes in American ideals that he pushed the rest of the world to adopt them (see: Arab Spring). That unfettered idealism may have been his greatest weakness. Careful about judging that picture from a website with an agenda.

Trump is an egoist and a narcissist. He's adopted a nationalist and patriotist stance because it was to his advantage. There is no more depth than that for this POTUS.

The National Security Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation violated specific civil liberty protections during the Obama years by improperly searching and disseminating raw intelligence on Americans or failing to promptly delete unauthorized intercepts, according to newly declassified memos that provide some of the richest detail to date on the spy agencies’ ability to obey their own rules.

Obama is guilty of the very things he criticized in his speech.

    This should go well

He did such a great job building them up the past 8 years.
They've grown by about (-1000) seats total since he became President.
I'm excited for him to resume his work

I guess they were waiting on Obama to get to a non-extradition country?

"A federal judge has ordered the Internal Revenue Service to release the names of specific employees involved in targeting Tea Party groups, after years of litigation over what conservatives have long called “chilling” behavior by one of the government’s “most feared” agencies.

Judge Reggie B. Walton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia also said the IRS must provide information about which groups were targeted and why, along with a strategy to make sure such targeting doesn't happen again. ..."

I would go with being a lightweight in almost every area; The economy, the economy, the economy, foreign policy, ability to make his party stronger, racial cohesiveness, building trust of government among the citizens, etc. etc. He ended up with a legacy of failure that is unmatched. His library should only consist of a basement level.

1/10th of the National Homicide increase is due to 1/10th of Obama's hometown

"Chicago ended 2016 with 762 murders, a whopping 58 percent jump over 2015’s total. Baltimore experienced its second-deadliest year on record with 358 murders, surpassing the previous record set in 2015.

That disparity could be felt in the national stats. John Pfaff, a Fordham University law professor who studies crime statistics, noted on Twitter that 22 percent of the nationwide increase in murders came from Chicago alone. But inside Chicago itself, 50 percent of the homicide rise came from just five neighborhoods, which account for only 9 percent of the city’s overall population. Those neighborhoods, in effect, account for 10 percent of the national increase in murders. …"

Here are Weinstein's visits to the Obama WH
BTW, we have these logs only because the Obama administration was sued and then ordered by a judge to turn them over

I hope someone does the same for the Clinton White House
Would also be interesting to see how many visits he made to Chappaqua
And how many of those visits were while Hillary were out of town
Weinstein and Bill Clinton seem like two peas from the same pod
