SNL doesn’t skewer Dems often? Really? Do you watch the show, or just clips from Twitter? Throughout the election, roughly every show nailed (or tried to) both Trump and Clinton. Whatever is in the news since has been parodied.

One of my fav post election skits was the liberal watch party of the election.

That’s fake news! SNL only goes after Republicans.

This is not really something in dispute, given Lorne Michaels openly admits it.

I admit I watched the other weekend when 3 Astros were on.
It was pretty tough to sit through. The show is even worse now than it used to be. I dont know if you watch or whether you are just talking out of your butt again, but the fake news show was probably 80-90% Trump hate. It was closer to every day whining than it was to jokes or humor. Even the audience laughs were forced, sort of auto-reflexive. You know the type.

On the Alabama polling -- it does not appear Doug Jones (D) can break the low 40% range no matter what
Moore has already been at and over the critical 50% threshold
This is true in some polls even post allegations
Thus it seems that most Alabama voters simply do not believe the WaPo story or at the least find it highly suspect. He is their guy, they know him better than people at the Washington Post

So it looks like it will all come down to turnout as the Dem vote is capped

Mitch McConnell said he believes the women
And he thinks Moore should exit
Ive read Team McConnell was trying to spread these rumors during the Strange vs. Moore primary

    Here is the open
This is a direct shot at Alabama voters rather than Moore. They, of course, insult the voters and people of Alabama, as they always have. After doing this, these same bi-coastal elites then attempt to tell these voters they just insulted how to vote. Does this seem like a good persuasion technique to you? Is it any wonder why Alabama voters would want to do the exact opposite from what these people with open hatred of them tell them to do?

As you watch, keep in mind SNL itself doesnt do skits about Harvey Weinstein. Lorne Michaels admitted they were intentionally laying off him because he is from New York (Larry David did mention him in his own monologue but not of the SNL people have not have they made a skit about him. And David was attacked for his tasteless humor making Weinstein into a Holocaust joke).
Nor have they done a skit about Senator Bob Mendendez

McConnell actually has a technical argument he could make to block Moore

    Article 1, § 5, Clause 2 of the Constitution --

"Each House may determine the rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two thirds, expel a member."

These sort of allegations regarding Moore are just one example of why due process is mentioned more than once in the Constitution. But I am not sure if procedural or substantive due process would apply here, if McConnell tried this.

Over the weekend a female Assistant DA who worked with Moore claimed it was common knowledge that Moore dated teenagers when he was in his 30's, where preferred to hang out at HS football games and the mall.

Here is an opinion piece on thehill.com. Things that make you go hmmmm.....

It has nothing to do with Wapo. It's literally saying that the accuser(s) aren't as "Alabaman" as Moore for going after him. Wapo is just the messenger.

If you are now making the point that SNL takes on Republicans more often than Democrats, I very much agree. Especially since Trump's election, there has been more material on him and his team (especially Spicer but also Pence, Manafort, Perry Sessions, etc.) than on anyone else. Whether that is due to bias or because Trump provides so much fodder is up for interpretation. I'd say its a little of column A and a little of column B.

But that wasn't your point before. You were saying that SNL rarely takes on Democrats, even though they do so in pretty much every episode. Hillary Clinton in particular takes a pounding on SNL, repeatedly.

Before the 2016 campaigns heated up, Obama was the main target on pretty much every episode, just like Trump is now. That said, my impression is that the anti-Trump tilt now is more pronounced than the anti-Obama tilt was back then.

Trump presents a pretty easy target. The bluster, the factual inconsistencies, the outsized personality. In my lifetime, he's the first president that didn't go out of his way to project reticence and dignity. He is a Reality TV Star turned President and he's still behaving like a Reality Star. It's working for him ... but it's not what we're used to and there is a lot of room for humor there.

Uh oh, a new lady, Beverly Nelson, just showed up with Gloria Allread by her side and claimed Moore groped her when she was 16.

I think Moore is pretty much done. He needs to step aside.

This will only solidify Moore's support from his supporters. Gloria Allred is a trigger for them. Her presence alone is enough for the supporters to assume all 5 women are lying.

I hope you're wrong, but for many, you're undoubtedly right. Frankly, it's sad. Allred is a shameless attention-seeker as people suggest, but that doesn't mean this lady is lying.

Obama & Michelle presented great targets too. But they held off. How come?

I do disagree with that characterization. The only Hillary joke I heard was something about the color of her blouse. Something like that. I am not going back and rewatch it to be more precise.

I know its silly to complain about it when it is never going to change. I remember an interview with an ex-writer there who said they did not have a single conservative and/or Republican writer in the entire writers room. In the old days, they did have one or two. Those writers have discussed how difficult it was to get their proposed skits on the air. But when there are none, there is zero chance of any skit like that. Maybe that's the idea?

Did you ever see President Obama Speak standing beside the Angry Black Man Translator? Did you ever see the debate skits where Obama opponents would be asked embarrassing questions and then the Obama would be asked "Is there something I can get for you?"

Again, Obama presented targets ... but he didn't spend a lot of time on camera making funny faces.

I must concede I did not. The poster above was right, the only time I see it is when someone sends a link out over twitter. LOL (with the exception of the Astros' appearance, as noted above. I did sit through that one until they made it on)

But I still hold the position that the humor involving Obama, whatever there might have been of it (one skit a year?) was nowhere near as biting as what they throw at Trump. They hate Trump and so they skewer him. They loved Obama so those jokes were lame. You seem to want to make this complicated. But it's not. It's very simple.

A much more interesting question is whether they ran the Obama jokes by the OEOB before running them? Would that surprise anyone?
Here is my argument for that --
    (1) We already know for a fact many in the media ran their articles by Podesta and other HRC campaign folks pre-publication. Are SNL skits that much different? I say they are not.
    (2) None of those white SNL writers wanted to ever take the chance of getting on the wrong side of an Obama joke that might be remotely seen as racially insensitive. There was one sure way for them to prevent it.
Maybe Wikileaks will prove this some day just like they did with the political writers?

That was Key and Peele and it was a hilarious skit.

I'd argue that Obama presented a very limited target due to the risk of going to the race card. He spoke pretty eloquently both on the teleprompter and off which further limited him as a target. If anything, he was milk toast.

AL.com getting in on the Moore action.

Not sure how he survives this, even with 53 pastors signing a letter of support for him. Reading the accounts is like reading about the creepy uncle that your parents would never let you be alone with during holiday gatherings.

Age of consent in Alabama is 16 so he didn't do anything illegal in that article. Creepy, but nothing illegal. The only thing he's accused of that's illegal is the 14 year old. However, the first time we've heard about all of this is nearly 40 years after it supposedly happened. All of these accusations are suspicious as hell.

I always come late to these issues, so I didn’t hear the first group of accusers/victims. However, the last woman I heard did not sound credible. She worked in that he supposedly said, “no one will believe you,” as he fondled her against her will. Just didn’t sound right—seemed made up. If you tell me she has zero political motive, maybe is Republican, that would go a long way with me. If anything in her life is overtly political in the other way, that would affect my perception, too.

Normally, I would think that a person who said nothing for decades—while this guy was already in politics, right?—and lands a bombshell right at the end of an election, was 99% sure to be lying. The wild card here is that in the past few weeks there has been a social groundswell of women coming forth (truthfully as far as I can tell yet) with descriptions of very old sexual improprieties. So, this could be seen in that timeline as well.

    Shocking.

It was more like 1-2 skits per show. But you are right that the skits weren’t nearly as biting on President Obama as they are on President Trump.

I’m sure this is a factor, likely even a big one. But it is far from the only reason. I think the biggest reason is they were scared people would accuse them of racism.

Plus, President Obama was (and is) boring. SNL has always been hard on politicians who are colorful, whether liberal (both Clintons and Bernie Sanders come to mind) or conservative (Trump and his team, Bush 43, Perot). They have less to say about boring politicians, like Obama and Bush 41.

The news of all the sexual improprieties the last few weeks has shown it's common for victims to stay quiet for decades.

Incidentally, the woman that claims Moore molested her when she was 14 is a registered Republican who voted for Trump.

Saw tonight that the mall asked hin not to hang out there any more. His fellow lawyers thought it was weird that he hung out at high school football games. Was he a modern day wooderson (or whatever that dazed and confused character was named).
