I wonder if the University ever considers designating less space for the students and sale that space to people that will use it. We're one of the top programs in the nation and our student body won't fill their section up. Sometimes it's pretty close to completely empty. I understand that the students buy an athletic pass for all sports, but they can emphasize that only so many football tickets are allotted and they have to go in by a certain time to claim them. I remember back in the good ole days when we were national ranked high every year we still didn't fill them up the student section for certain games.

It's really pathetic that good or bad our team isn't supported by the students.

Two observations - The students who do come to games prefer to crowd the lower levels and stand most of the game therefore the top 30% +/- looks empty as the lower level is SRO.
The students that show up late for early games are being cool to walk in at kickoff. At least that is what the two nephews at UT say.
Last we have plenty of empty seats without putting restrictions on students - winning solves everything.

West Side Lower is full every week. Us old-fogies are holding up our end. The students not so much.

The ticket office holds back seats in/near student sections in case of a last minute rush, which hasn't occurred in nearly a decade.

It'll be more full when we win more. It'll be less full at kickoff b/c students show up late and because of inefficient policies. It'll be especially bad for 11am games b/c students don't want to wake up on weekends.

For the most part all the lower level is close to capacity outside of the student section. Winning more would pack it in tight for the lower level, but we have to be National Title Contenders for the Student section to be completely full and all of the upper sections. It's like a conditional love the students have to get their support.

West side lower deck is half empty five minutes before game time, no one is ever there to support the band. Most of you disappear at halftime and 50% are gone every week by mid way thru the fourth quarter. Don't hurt your arm patting your comrades on the back.

Uh, no. They may not come early but that's an exaggeration.

Worst I've noticed this year is the students, upper East, and although not nearly empty, the upper West is not as full as in past. Heck even my NEZ is not full.

A good friends son has a sports pass and only attended two games this year. He claimed a ticket for every game just in case he wanted to go and because he could claim it. Once claimed the tickets have the students name on them and she said they are non transferable (can anyone confirm this?).

There is the problem. Also, the university should give students until 48 hrs before the game to claim tickets then open sales on unclaimed seats to the general public. That would help some.

I love this suggestion. They should do this. I do want to point out that something was up on Black Friday though. The week I start this topic the following game the student section was the first to fill up. So I’m not sure why but this is the way it should be every game.

I gotta confess I am not so worried about supporting the band before the game as I am supporting the team DURING the game.

I agree but just imagine if people were actually in their seats before the game started rattling the rafters with Texas Fight when the visitors are in their locker room or coming onto the field. DKR could be a much tougher place for visiting teams to play than it is now.

There were a lot more seats filled in the student section than I expected.

There were also tons of fans who left at halftime or during the 4th quarter. Pretty sad.

    Winning would fix all this.

The upper west side has been pretty empty. The stadium in general has been pretty empty. I have had empty rows around me all year. The seats to my right have been empty all year. Take seats away from the students? Why? Who would buy those seats?

Try filling up the rows around me first.

Phil is right winning solves attendance issues.
Texas Sports did a Facebook post the week of TT game saying 5K+ seats were unsold and offered $25 for general admission. We bought one online and had a nephew join us for the TT game.
Until the winning begins I think the empty seats should be turned into goodwill for UT and have cheap and free seats available the Monday before the games.
Promote Veterans, First Responders, EMT, Firemen, Police, DPS, State Employees, Teachers, Health Care Staff, Family of Students and Staff, Alumni day etc. with low cost or free tix the fill in the gaps of empty spaces.
Will not be a problem to sell out USC at DKR next Sept but Tulsa, Baylor and ISU will benefit from some promotion.

Winning will solve attendance issues but after this year we better plan ahead.

The students are getting screwed in DKR and the Drum on seating. I hope some of you watched how they were treated last friday when they tried to get to their seats.
It is worse at the Drum. It is their years at Texas, not ours. They should be able to have good seats and not hassled getting into the seats.

The upper section would love those seats.

If this is "their years" at Texas then they need to take advantage of having access to those seats. Obviously I'm not talking about the few that do show up.
