I would say the biggest coaching coup in 40 years was Alabama luring Nick Saban away from the Dolphins, but the difference in real results vs. possible future results will always elude the ags.

So WorsterMan, are you saying that 1939 was a big year for GooseSteppers?

Define mistake... what is the point of any of it? If you feel your ego has been gratified then we have to wonder about your standards.

He did notably fail to mention anything about wins and losses

I think this is a good hire for them. The SEC West isn't getting better and how much longer is Saban going to be around? We'll see how it works out.

Something is weird over there in Tallahassee, though. Florida State has the same record as Duke and scored less points (in conference play) over the year.

Zwenerman did a Houston Chronicle article this morning (the online link does not seem to be available) drawing parallels between Jimbo and Jackie Sherrill. I thought this was an interesting choice. Zwenerman did talk about money a lot and he talked about how Sherrill won them their first SWC titles since one in the 1960s. But he failed to mention whatsoever that Sherrill used some of that aggy money to pay players, was forced to resign in shame and nearly got aggy the Death Penalty. But for what had already happened to SMU football, aggy probably would have received the Death Penalty for what they were doing. Aggy got lucky simply due to timing, catching the NCAA gunshy to impose it again and destroy another program in the same state. I dont know how you can bring up Sherrill in the context of aggy football without mentioning this.

I dont know who was the worse cheater, Sherrill or Barry Switzer, but they were both cut from the same cloth. If there were a vote, I would probably vote Switzer because he was such an open [slang for penis] about it.

In any event, it was a little surprising that the Chroncile would let Zwenerman brag about how much money aggy has now while simultaneously pimping a return of the Sherrill era in light of how shamefully it ended for them and Sherrill.

Your mistake lies in believing aggy has the same sense of shame that most normal, decent human beings do.

It's interesting that Sumlin and Fisher are sort of downplayed because their success was tied to an elite quarterback. Could we not say that about Mack? A real deficiency at certain positions can make any coach appear to be average. I think we saw that this year with the home team.

And we all know John Sharp is such a man of integrity and honesty. Just another career bureaucrat.

Here we go. From the Dallas Morning News website:

"We don't do Plan B at Texas A&M," Sharp said. "It's the best, or forget about it."

The bragging never ends. Ever. Results don't matter.

Well that's just it... he's going, "They paid me $75 million and they haven't won a thing. Man... no standards to live up to... nice..."

Some needs to explain to him that Plans C, D, E and F are not better than Plan B.

Fisher/aggy hired Demeyune Craig from the FSU staff
You may recall this guy from the Tim Irvin recruiting saga under Charlie Strong?
Irvin was committed to Texas but switched to Auburn during dead period
At the time, he tweeted a pic of a wad of cash spread out in his hand sort of like a poker hand
    Craig was that Auburn recruiter
This is what Fisher has brought to our fair state

Like I previously posted, Fisher cheats as bad as Jackie, but not as discreetly as RC.

Whatever financial statement report was prepared it was most likely prepared according to GAAP standards...Generally Accepted Aggy Principles.

In the long run I don't see anything good for aggy coming out of this. They might have a descent year in '18, followed by a couple of 10 win seasons. But, Jimbo gonna Jimbo and from what is coming out of FSU, aggy is in for a real surprise. If they decide they want him out after 6 years, that is going to cost them nearly $30mil minimum. How much will the assistants want seeing how much aggy shelled for the HC. If I'm making $1mil as an OC and aggy comes calling, my minimum starting price is $2.5mil, 10 years, guaranteed for me to consider aggy. They may have blown off their own financial foot. When do we and the rest of the NCAA Football programs start to laugh?
