Too bad those statues at least represented people that put up a fight...something that Chicago seems unwilling to do.

OK, so new crime stats are out
During Obama's last two years, Black Lives Matter, with support from President Obama for the movement, homicides were up an extraordinary 20% nationally
    Well done

    But wait, that's not all
The spike in murders tended to be concentrated in cities where BLM enjoyed its greatest triumphs, i.e., Baltimore and Chicago. In other words, since Ferguson, Black Lives Matter has managed to get several thousand additional blacks murdered by other blacks

Elder is awesome. He's got a boatload of facts to support his claims that the explosion of fatherless homes has wreaked havoc on the AA community.

Denzel Washington agrees with those sentiments...

Denzel Washington to Black America: Stop Blaming the Prison System, ‘It Starts at Home’

"It starts at the home. It starts at home. It starts with how you raise your children. If a young man doesn’t have a father figure, he’ll go find a father figure.

So you know I can’t blame the system. It’s unfortunate that we make such easy work for them.

I grew up with guys who did decades (in prison), and it had as much to do with their fathers not being in their lives as it did to do with any system.

Now I was doing just as much as they were, but they went further. I just didn’t get caught, but they kept going down that road and then they were in the hands of the system.

But it’s about the formative years. You’re not born a criminal."

    Sadly true.

    Sadly not always true.

I'm not sure if adjusting for the number of people in the murderer's race is the best way to present the data. I'm not sure it isn't, either, but it does sure seem intentionally picked to skew towards the point the creator wants it to make.

You have made equivalent the results of standing up to a cop and complying. Do you really think that's the case? I wonder what the the raw statistics are of surviving by complying versus dying for not complying.

I did not equate them, I simply picked two sentences and stated one was true and one was not, and added my belief that both of those are sad things.

Clearly raw numbers are misleading, but adjusting for victim numbers and perp numbers will get you two different results.

I don't think it's a matter of manhood. If it was, then you wouldn't see them try to run from the cops so often. I think it's "the talk." I think they're told by their parents (and have reinforced by the media, politicians, and other forces that exploit Left wing identity politics) that large numbers of police officers hate blacks and are looking for a reason to beat or kill them no matter how they behave. If you believe that, then running or fighting makes sense.

I think this is the primary issue, and why the rhetoric really needs to stop. We've basically convinced a generation of kids that if they get into that cop car, there's a good chance they won't get out alive. So what are they to do? If any of us thought that officer was going to kill us, wouldn't we run?

That's not an excuse, it's just to point out how deeply engrained the hyperbole has become, and how damaging those things can be to people when they actually play out.

The true problem is the lies told by the BLM and MSM don't take into account the population numbers or any facts. They have skewed the results to show that a single justified killing of a robbing, cop attacking thug by a cop is really a societal problem. That is the skewing of facts that should concern everyone.

That was all I was trying to say. I see attempts at what I call a "false equivalency" that everyone makes mistakes. I've seen that enabling of Joe Mixon online before. No, everybody does not cold-cock a woman. Don't think I haven't thought about doing it before in my personal life as drinking glasses were being thrown my way but what you do is remove yourself from the situation which is what I did.

@Statalyzer - I respect your opinion. I just kind of knee-jerked my response because I do think the statistics are vital when it comes to the racial divide and measuring our response to the actual versus perceived level of the problem. And the perception is inflaming the extremists on both sides.

Ha ha... she was great 98.6% of the time but drank a lot. What happened was I went to Twin Peaks with an old college bud. I knew she was volatile but thought, "Hell, I can't go to TP with a friend I've not seen in 25 years?" Besides, it was his idea and he was a bit insistent as he was on a cross-country road trip (from Florida to Washington state) and wanted to see some ladies. Later when I got back home she started drinking and brooding after I told her where we went (I decided not to lie about it). Later I was in the bedroom and I heard a glass smash against the wall (I thought it was the TV). I came running out yelling, "NO NO NO" (again I thought it was the TV). I noticed it was still in one piece so I looked over at her and she had another glass wound up and here it flew, right at me! I ducked and managed to grab my phone, wallet and keys from off the bar (where I always left them because I knew her temper well) and out the door I went. I then kind of hid in a thicket of trees and waited for her to emerge. She came out yelling my name and I was bracing myself for her to smash my car windows or something. Luckily she didn't and went back in. Then I ran to my car and spent the night elsewhere. The next day she achieved the proper level of contrition and repentance so I gave her another chance.

But I've thought about that situation many times. It flashed into my head to grab her (bear-hug) until she calmed down but decided flight was the best course of action. The bear-hug of course could have escalated it and most certainly would have provided the evidence of bruising had she wanted to pursue domestic violence charges against me. My advice to men is always the same if you are being attacked by a female: "GET THE HELL OUT OF DODGE!"

CODA: I do recall an extremely gorgeous young lady sitting with us (that's their MO; come join you at the table) and she was texting someone during the conversation. I asked her what was up as she had made a face. She explained that some guy she knew (sort of her boyfriend but not really) who wanted her to come down to Kyle for an hour or so. I told her to text back, "I'm not an hour; I'm a lifetime." Her face burst into a huge smile and she sent the text. I was like,"My work is done here."

I think you're right. I do also think the minority of officers who do escalate situations, have itchy trigger fingers, or do (even subconsciously) treat people differently based on stereotypes also contribute to that effect. As does the way the majority of others tend to defend that minority.

The problem with this is that if you leave, she might call the PoPo in her rage and claim you did something you didn't do. I would say that if she's attacking you, I wouldn't leave unless she might seriously inflict death or serious bodily. Instead I'd stick around until she calms down. Then I'd dump her and find somebody normal. And if you can't find normal, at least find a girl who, when she gets hammered, only does things like run out of the house topless or hike up her dress and pee on the ground at gas stations like two of the women I had the "good fortune" of going out with back in the day. (Neither was Mrs. Deez. When she drinks, she just laughs and giggles until she falls asleep.)

By the way, "Gas Station Girl" did that on a first date. Needless to say, there wasn't second.

Sound advice. Don't leave them still in a rage if possible. She's seeking justice in her unhinged mind. When you bolt they'll likely become even more pissed and want instant payback.

Play the role, kiss her feet, do whatever it takes to calm the flames for the night. And yes it stings the pride like a mofo while doing it. But no amount of pride is worth defending false accusations to PoPo. The best part is the relief from safely cutting bait the next day feels like getting out of prison.

"Hell hath no fury ..." ain't no joke. :smile1:

My advice to leave is in the context of being attacked. The glasses were flying my way. She was not in a position to calm down so I chose to remove myself from the scene. It was a better choice to me to not lay any hands on her because a bruise is worse in my view as evidence than a phone call to the police in a rage. It was just a bad situation all around and I had to think fast.

And we are no longer dating. That incident pretty much sealed her fate though I did not move out immediately.

I work with a few black folks (Jesus that sounds so bad). Two of them I'm very close to in the sense that we communicate daily and we've discussed the black experience in America. One is a 27 year old graduate of Florida A&M, who grew up in Canada and whose Father is from Jamaica. He's an extremely bright, responsible accountant who has done things like spend weekends Youtubing Excel Macros to streamline our spreadsheets. In other words, he was a home-run hire.

The other is an engineer. He's in his 40's. Very easy to talk to. Again, very responsible and is married to the mother of his children and they have a thriving family life from what I can tell.

Neither of these men are militant, have an attitude or any other stereotype you may think of concerning black men in America. In short, I like both of them very much.

And both of them swear to me in private they have been racially profiled on multiple occasions.

The thing about racial profiling (for me) is that when it does happen its usually unexpected. So in other words it doesn't happen a ton and when it does its usually some jerk off trying to start ****. I just hate it when cops do it, have had multiple incidents of simply walking to the convenience store getting stopped, frisked and told to shut my mouth.

Sometimes people will also talk **** at Metal shows, thats kinda expected since a lot are drunk anyway. Your more likely to get sideswiped by a ***** hanging on the perimeter of the pit than someone talking **** to you. At a Metal show, if you talk **** to someone you are likely to get punched in the face. If you dont talk **** and just having fun and fall in the pit anyone around you will help pick you back up if only to have the opportunity to knock you down again.

Most of my days I go about as a regular dude and people treat me as such even though I am a minority. Even people that dont know at least on the face seem to not really notice or at least not say anything about that. Once we start talking people seem to open up more, I would think thats a pretty general experience for everyone.
