Hopefully when his cousin gets here, he can skip the first few shanks and punt snap drops and get right to the dagger-in-the-heart inside-the-5 jobs.
Damn, there goes our offensive MVP. Hope we will be able to get some first downs for a change next year!
That is pretty cool of Kingsbury, but I wonder if we aren't the butt of a joke there. Feels like a dig we would make at aggy
Watched the tape of his cousin. He has a talent I have not seen in years. He kicked about seven balls In a row that hit between the 10 and goal line and took an immediate left bounce out of bounds. The coffin corner kick has been out of vogue for years but this kid seems to have mastered it. Hope he will be as talented as Michael without the first year yips.
Somebody will use a 5th round or 6th round pick on him and get their punter for the next 12-15 years.
This guy is the reason Texas Football hasn't been a complete disaster the last 3 years. He is an amazing punter and one of the best I have I have ever seen live; Shane Lechler being the other. Good luck to him at the next level.
I hope his cousin has about half of the total punting yards that Michael had because we don't have to punt. Without improvement on offense, Texas may become the new Punter U (PU).
This shows, more than anything, the absolute pathetic state of our offense. In any years past, would the announcement of a punter skipping his senior year cause any consternation by the fanbase? Man, how embarrassing.
BUT...Texas has never had a Ray Guy Award winner either. Regardless of the state of the offense, Dickson is a great punter, was a good weapon, and will be missed.
I don't disagree, but that does not disprove my point about the offense. I can recall watching games this year and thinking, "Well, at least _ will get the ball really deep in their territory."
I agree with you, but if this were Erxleben leaving prior to 78 it would have been a bigger deal imho. Our offense sputtered early (for various reasons), he saved the defense by turning the field around many times. Aside from Earl he might have been our most significant player in an era ('75 to '78) of some really good -to -great players.
Erxleben is the greatest kicker of all time. Huge punts that changed games, Booming kickoffs, and monster fieldgoals. Ask Barry Switzer. That said, Dickson should be our MVP the last two years.
I wonder if he told Herman hed come back for one more year as long as Herman called him by his name and not "the punter."
On Texas GameDay Final tonight, LG said they should have a gold cast made of Dickson's leg and display it in the trophy room. Corey added, "And put a lamp shade on top of it." Not a bad idea, actually. (Without the lamp shade, though.)
Didn’t the ok state mullet say the Texas punter almost won the game for Texas? And TTs coach was impressed enough to send a note? Dickson made a big impression this year, and not just with the home fans....
Prokick Australia looks like the real deal. The last 5 Ray Guy winner's have come out of that academy. The Aussies are starting to dominate the kicking game in American Football. I could see Dickson getting picked up in round 3. That seems to be about the earliest anyone ever gets on the board for a P.
After last year, Herman ought to call him "Mr. Dickson, sir." Frankly the whole "the punter" thing really bothered me about Herman last year and I hope he grows out of it.
It’s dumb. Especially dumb when you have the best punter in the country who consistently bails your *** out because your offense can’t score points, but you won’t call one of your top players by name?
