I think all of Charlie Strong’s better players decided to leave the team high and dry rather than play through. Wish all of them success at the next level BUT I think they’ll find the nfl more like Herman than strong or brown. Ask the dB from the patriots....

Not sure why that DB didn’t play last night but I do know that the Patriots had their worst defensive performance since early October.

My thoughts exactly! The difference is this: The demands that TH puts on his players will not be put on them in the NFL. The NFL will expect them to put these demands on themselves. Reference JFF and reread the piece from Aaron Williams concerning his first two years in Buffalo.

Which means Herman is teaching them what they need to know if they're going to make it on the next level....I love UT football, want all of our better players to have their NFL shot...it seems like we've had some stars here struggle in the NFL when push comes to shove (it's a business). Maybe more hard-nosed tough-love type instruction will help them along the way. I am interested to see how Charlie's players who left early do in the NFL (if they get there)....don't know, maybe I'm off on this one....we'll see.....

I'm with you Z. They have no idea how tough it is going to be.

    Oh, I think they do.
Warrens dad played many years in the NFL and they talk to former Horns in the NFL all the time.
Maybe they just decided to get paid for the hard work.
Especially if the coaching change left them unhappy for whatever reason.

It’s warrens only shot. He wasn’t going to get any transfer interest. The nfl is many times faster than college football. Warren can’t do that tap dancing up to the line he seems to like. He may be injured or is trying to avoid injury by his running style this past season, but I would bet no nfl scout us saying “oh yeah give me THAT guy, the one who runs so timidly”. Yes ehlinger helped him into the end zone against kstate.

Herman should have given Ehlinger the ball on the goal line against K State so he could fumble it.

I wasn't making any statements on anyone's abilities.
Only that they are more than likely aware of the NFL grind.

And, by the way, Warren was invited to the NFL combine.
It seems that someone may have some interest.

If you look at the list, the crop of running backs who got invites is a relatively anorexic list of 32, many of whom I never heard of.

Well, it's the first time ANY Longhorn was invited to the combine since Malcom Brown in 2015.
So I'm going to look at it as a positive.

That says more about Mack Brown than Charlie Strong or Tom Herman. Mack left this team with very little talent. Charlie was here 3 years and it was his second year class who were juniors that are going. Not a single senior, which tells me Mack stopped coaching right after 2009 season.

The program is going in the right direction and we have a relatively easy road next season (compared to last season), we just need a little improvement from the QBs and a lot of improvement from the Oline and Texas will win 9 or 10 games.

Yep, I will always be a fan of Mack, but after 2009 he got lazy on just about everything.
WRT recruiting, he thought he could just troll his boat around the lake and any fish that jumped in was a whopper, because Texas. And in fact, the recruiting services supported him in this delusion because any fish that jumped in got an extra 1.5 stars in their whopper rating.

IIRC, Mack admitted once that after the loss to Bama for the NC, he went into a funk and stopped coaching and doing the things an HC was supposed to do. It eventually cost him as in he lost the confidence of the fan base, some BMDs, etc. But that’s ancient history now.

Without Charlie as a guidance counselor, I guess Warren forgot to go to class.....

I fail to see why that would be a knock against Charlie. But you are on a roll.

Because he got paid $5 million a year to become the worst coach in Texas history. And got applauded for shaping young men’s lives. Guidance counselor. Could’ve paid him $150j for that. All of his backers need to own it.

I get it. 16-21 is awful. He failed and he is gone. You are a little bit over-zealous is all. All the players he recruited are dumb and if they transfer or leave early it because they suck and they had to get pushed into the end zone by Tom Herman recruits too.

I've backed every UT coach since I've been old enough to follow UT football.
I don't have to own **** about any of them.
I also don't hold grudges against any of them.
Charlies occupying your head rent free, dude.
    Don't worry, be happy.

Point taken. Will probably be less zealous when everyone who sat on his bench is gone and it will be Herman’s team to own.

Well put Moondog, much better said than me.

Well, i just hope that if Collin Johnson or some other Charlie recruit sets records this year, that you can force yourself to enjoy it in spite of Charlie.

"Occupying my head rent free"....I'm going to put that on the wall of my office! Omniscient Moon, my hope for you is that anyone living in your head is paying double rent! I believe that's a compliment/hope for you, if not, that's how it was intended....
