Wow you think we could of gotten higher caliber players. Kidding. Now what about other “sports agents “? Football?

If I understand the dates correctly then good for Barnes
But NCAA BBall is pretty stinky
I am ready to see schools penalized with the forfeiture of the entire immediate upcoming season. Otherwise, I dont think it will ever end

Do you see how ridiculously petty all this is? Coaches and everyone else involved in college athletics are making millions off of these players and people are making a big deal about them getting a $147 meal or 1,500 from a potential agent.

“It's unclear who told Barnes the players in question were paid after he left Texas, but it's clear Barnes had no problem throwing Shaka Smart and the current Longhorns' staff under the bus.”

Unclear? It is in the yahoo article. How is it unclear? The documents say “March 2016”. Rick Barnes saying something happened after he left that happened a year after he left is “throwing Shaka under the bus”? Really?

The media is bad and the UT sports media is worse.

Edit: They took out the part about throwing Shaka under the bus, but left out the part about the allegations being for 2016 because sensationalism > the whole truth.

    Dear NCAA:

While admitting nothing, we nonetheless hereby self-impose the penalty of no birth in the 2018 Basketball Tournament (mens team only). Thank you for your compassion as we work ourselves through this difficult time.
    Sincerely,
    CDC

If we're going to pay for a three-point specialist, can he please shoot better than 34 percent? Thanks.

Until the NCAA gets serious and hits the pocketbooks of the schools, nothing will happen. Does anyone remember OU being forced to vacate football wins? How many people remember the vacated wins versus how many remember Barry kicking DKR's ***? (At least DKR refused to accept the wins.)

Screw the W-L reports, and grab cash. Baylor, for your pathetic handling of sexual assaults, you will play a full football schedule, some of which will be televised. All revenue sharing from your games and other sources are being forfeited. No TV money, no bowl money, no Big XII $20+ million.

Loserville, play your full schedule and tournament games, but no ACC cash, TV money, and by the way, you don't get to withhold the normal "expenses" for travel. The athletic department has to foot the bill.

This was part of a proposal I sent to the NCAA nearly 40 years ago, accompanied by recommendations for suspensions of coaches repeatedly violating the rules and offending athletes. NCAA reply was beyond ridiculous.

NCAA, constantly vying with the FDIC for the most worthless entity in the Western Hemisphere.

Also, I have to wonder if the players knew about this, knew all the games this year will be forfeited and that is why their effort went downhill this last month against everyone not named “OU”. Probably not, but decided to throw that wild theory out there.

    77,

That's as good an excuse as any, and certainly sounds better than piss-poor preparation and coaching.

Yep, I agree that is the fastest way to get the school's attention. Also, taking schollie's away seems to get their attention. Say, about half of the usual allotment; for one to three years. Which, due to a pattern of losing that results, loss of money comes following the loss of schollie's in quick succession.

I'm having an issue equating a dirty program with a guy having his dinner paid for by someone.

Yea, an agent paid for a $37 dinner for Ibeh. Really?
Now if Davis took $1500 that's something else.

Miller, not surprisingly is following the sociopathic plan recently exhibited by Rick Pitino (i.e. arrogant sanctimony). Winning... it's starting to grate on me. Glory, money, winning. The ends that justify the means.

"I believe it is in the best interest of our team that I not coach the game tonight," Miller said in the statement. "I continue to fully support the University's efforts to fully investigate this matter and am confident that I will be vindicated. For now, my thoughts are with our team. They are a great group of young men that will support each other and continue their pursuit of winning a Pac-12 championship."

Not near enough money for the physical beating he took on the second Saturday of October. It was brutal. I'm sure every morning when Sims wakes up he still feels some of those hits. And who the hell does time for not paying child support? But I digress.

**For you childrens too young to remember, that 1979 team gave up 104 points in 12 games. Gave OU and Houston their only losses of the season. And this wasn't the best defense Fred ever had. I believe Sabre can confirm my recollections.

1979, OU got five first downs - 2 on penalties, 2 on busted plays, one conventional. Without the last busted play first down, Oklahoma had just over 80 yards total offense for the game with their "million dollar backfield".

Best OU game I ever saw. There were OU fans sitting behind us in 106. Before the game, the wife asked, "Are you going to stand the whole time? Nothing's happening, sit down".

I turned and replied, "That piece of **** band over there is playing your school song, and we have the class to stand for it."

She looked at her hubby, "Is that the school song?"

I replied, "It's called "The OU Chant, wanna know the words?"

Next thing they said was in the fourth quarter when hubby said, "I don't know what your worried about, we can't even get a first down".

Thank you, Leon Fuller, best defensive coordinator in football anywhere, any time.

Investigation expanded - 2 schools added to the indictment
Kansas and NC State, joining Louisville and Miami
All connected to the "same major apparel company" (Adidas)
Payments made to families of 6 players in exchange for commitments

Kansas has replied saying the indictment doesn’t suggest any wrongdoing by the school, its coaches or staff. “We will cooperate fully with investigators.”

I hope there is a real investigation at Texas (forget the NCAA) and if Mike Morrell offered a player or his family money he needs to go. If Shaka knew, he needs to go.

Regardless of what you think of the NCAA (and I don't think much), as an alumnus, I want Texas to run a clean program. Even if the results on the court suffer.

We don't need any investigator roaming anywhere near Austin (and Collie Station isn't near Austin).
