Michigan's offensive coordinator resigned (that's re-zined) this week. Calvin Anderson had previously noted him among the reasons he liked UM.

Edit/update: I did not realize Ed Warriner would be his replacement. Strong reputation... been with UM for a short time after coming over from the Meyer regime and now getting promoted.

I would still think personal relationship appeal trumps strong reputation appeal, but who knows!?

    I certainly do not...

I'd like to see a little data and see if there is evidence to remotely support OU as OLineU. I've never heard that phrase...must have just made it up for this recruitment lol.

There really isn't a single school that can lay claim to oline U but if I had to pick one it would probably be USC. USC has put so many linemen in the NFL, and ones that have gone on to be bad ***.

since the NFL draft began Notre Dame has had 63 offensive linemen drafted. USC 58. Oklahoma 46 buhind Michigan, Penn State Nebraska and Boston college.

These numbers go back to the beginning, so I have no idea who had the record since say 2000 or any other arbitrary date.

I think I’m right there with you. What’s the point of stringing four schools along...unless it’s all about drawing attention to himself?

Not really stringing when there is not another kid you could potentially lose because of indecisiveness by Anderson. It’s a unique situation where there is no pressure on him to make a decision other than the hopes of the teams’ fans. He is probably tired of being harassed to make a decision when there isn’t a hard deadline. In the case of the fans, it would be better if there was a deadline, but alas there isn’t.

Yeah. Plus, the total number of fans at those four schools who even know this is going on is probably not that many. Still, it’s cramping our style on Hornfans, so he should go ahead and commit to us. Go horns! Or else off with his head!

If this guy is as good as so many say and therefore a vital recruit he'd be in the draft. At his position he'd go no later than third round. He didn't decide to stay in college a week before NSD. I've got 800+ posts in approximately 16.5 years so he's not cramping my style at all.

I actually wasn’t being sarcastic. Except the decapitation part. If he is a 3rd round NFL draft on the OL, I suppose we could sure use him. And on our recruiting board, we could especially appreciate that during the slow season.

It does seem squirrelly to be so undecided about colleges for a person who already has had a full college experience and ought to have a clearer idea what college experience would interest him. Unlike a high schooler who really has no idea what he is comparing.

I got no problem with this guy. By all accounts, seems like a stand-up guy from a stand-up family. No reason to doubt character IMHO.
I would certainly not say screw him - not even close...until and unless he dons the crimson. ...If that occurred then question everything and call him what you will.
As for ball skills, draft prospects right now, and expectations... He is known for pass protection but needs work on run blocking.
He will benefit greatly from another year on the gridiron.

What if you had 4 job offers from 4 different law firms in 4 different cities? There is a lot to think about once you finished interviewing all 4. I say 4 weeks within the last trip is typical.

Some people just can’t make a decision. And when they do, some will second guess themselves, and never be happy with their decision.

Anderson is apparently a smart guy and perhaps there is a method to his madness. But it’s not like he is a high draft choice holding out for a better offer. He’s been to all the schools. It is a bit baffling.

When I watched his film I came away with one big red flag. To be such a dominate blocker, almost none of his film is his offense running behind his blocks. Most of the film, with regard to running plays is of the offense running away from his side of the ball. I found it very perplexing since he was by all accounts an all conf player for Rice.

I've never heard anyone address this to get an answer from him, but truth is he is still a better blocker than anyone we currently have at that position so i'm really hoping he picks Texas.

Truth is we have no idea what his decision involves. Maybe it hinges on graduation or where his significant other goes after graduation or where a family member is transferred to in their career or just indecisiveness. Doesn't really matter. Texas needs help on the O-Line even if it is just for one season. We have a spot and Anderson is the best available. Stay on him and get him on the team!

If he doesn't sign with us it will be because he is "not Big 12 ready." (I won't include all the other vitriol that aggy spews when a player chooses someone other than aggy.)

    Holland on Anderson again --

"... wants to make a decision before March 25. I am told that a commitment could come in the next week, though. Anderson has been communicating with Herb Hand frequently, and we still feel really good about where the Longhorns stand."

At this point is it making a commitment or signing a LOI?

He will be making/announcing his decision this month.
I suppose it wont be "official" untl he files the transfer paperwork, is accepted and enrolls.

Isn’t he applying for grad school? Thus, no transfer whatsoever.

Remember out of high school nobody wanted Anderson - including Texas. He's finally getting the opportunity to enjoy the process. Don't begrudge him that. He owes the schools that shunned him before - including Texas - NOTHING. He's a talented young man who could provide immediate help in an area of need and I hope he chooses to stay at home.

When he comes to Texas, any and all delays, visits to the dark sides, and ambiguous tweets will immediately be forgotten.
