    Leaving:
    Mo Bamba
    Jacob Young
    Eric Davis, Jr.
    James Banks III

    Maybe:
    Kerwin Roach III
    Andrew Jones

    Returning:
    Matt Coleman
    Royce Hamm Jr
    Jase Febres
    Jericho Sims
    Dylan Osetkowski
    Elijah Mitrou-Long

I believe this list is correct.

Edit: I will update this list as more news comes out.

You can add Mr. Banks to the leaving list.

This is starting to suck big time. Young and Banks departures disappoint me the most. Really thought they could help the team next year.

Jericho Sims steps in as premier big for 18-19 on what will undoubtedly be (and much needed) a smaller/faster more athletic lineup. Hamm is a strong backup at PF so he's not going anywhere. I don't see anyone else leaving.

I'm really sad to see them both leave too. JY was my favorite player on the team.

We knew either Hamm or Banks were gone and my guess is Banks figured out how small Shaka needs to be on scheme and he figured he had zero opportunity to step out as a feature. He's a stronger C than Bamba or Allen were but I guess he just didn't have the pedigree.

Interesting parallel to the 2012-2013 season dumpster fire fallout that was probably the beginning of the end for Rick. All of these transfers (excluding Myck for obvious reasons) played in the NCAA tournament and were significant contributors on their respective teams in their first year of eligibility.

    Jaylen Bond - Temple
    Sheldon Mac[lellan] - Miami
    Sterling Gibbs - Seton Hall
    Julien Lewis - Fresno State
    Myck Kabongo – NBA

Remember Papapetrou? He left too and went back to play professionally in Greece. Looked up his stats and he never got as much playing time as he did at Texas.

Hope you are right about no one else leaving. Roach sort of worries me.

Surprised that Banks is planning to leave. Really hope he and Roach reconsider...they are needed!

I'd leave too if my minutes were cut by 60 percent and an obviously-better freshman took over the position.

So, figuring that we probably won't have any other surprises, here's what's in store for 2018-19:

    Guards:
    Coleman
    Roach
    Febres
    Mitrou-Long

No depth means big problems. Teams that go far in the tournament typically rotate 4 and then have scholarship depth beyond that. We might be in need of a Division II or JUCO transfer or something to help out. It'll also be tougher to match up against most of the teams we'll face, as they'll feature three guards and we just don't have the bodies to do that.

I also foresee a lack of improvement, because when there's no depth to help everything out, the players tend to push. Roach and Coleman had some rough endings of games in which they pressed too hard and forced errors that led to losses. That will probably be the same next year. I like what Mitrou-Long brings to the table, but I doubt we can rely on him to fix backcourt troubles.

    Forwards:
    Osetkowski
    Sims
    Hamm
    Hepa
    Liddell
    Cunningham
    Hayes

Tons of depth but no experience. Also not a ton of height either, but I don't see that as a huge issue with the teams we've been facing lately. Here's to hoping we play like UK the year they won with all the freshmen... lots of bigs moving the ball around as quickly as possible. Hepa will play a ton. I actually kind of liked what I saw from Hamm and can see him as at least Banks' equal if not better. We might even be able to redshirt one of the raw bigs (Cunningham) in order to help out the following year.

I hope we see some Coleman Roach Osetkowski Sims Hayes lineups when we go big. He reminds me of Jarrett Allen. Our "jack up the threes" lineup could be Coleman Roach Mitrou-Long Febres Osetkowski. But we're going to have some severe mismatches on both ends.

Surprised that Banks and Young are leaving. I wish that both would stay. Young should start here next year; and Banks should compete for serious playing time. He is decent on Defense, and needs to really improve on offense. But he could certainly help us.

Its surprising those guys are leaving but when you look at the recruiting class coming in (I'm not definite on how many), 3-4 guys coming in and we were maybe expecting 2 scholarships to leave, Bamba and maybe Jones had he not gotten sick, to the NBA, they needed some players to leave. Banks and Young "electing to transfer" sounds better for them then Texas not renewing their scholarship.

The exodus from the 2012-2013 class seemed a little different. I think Barnes wasn't going after more 3-4 year players and backfired when it seemed things didn't mesh. And didn't they only make it to the CBI?

there is no way their Scholies would "not have been renewed." By the season's end Young was our best shooting guard. He will be sorely missed. Banks likely would have been the first off the bench to spell Sims.

I think everyone saw some of his late-season performances (Tech in the conference tournament and some of his plays against Nevada) and took a good, long look at why he wasn't getting preferential playing time over guys like Febres and the pre-suspension version of Davis. He should have been our #3 option all season for guard, and it took the coaches about 28 games to figure that out. So he took his talents elsewhere. I don't blame him.

Jacob Young has grit and swagger, and high motor DNA; pretty much unparalleled on the team. He plays with a streetball sensibility and an intensity that we haven’t had here since maybe, I don’t know, Damion James?

Young was a classic case of a poor fit for a coach/program. I think Shaka thought he was getting a 4* kid that would settle for free Horns warmups, leftover PT and practice squad status...I think Shaka miscalculated the caliber of player he is and just couldn’t figure out how to work him in ahead of players he was closer to.

Good for JY for recognizing he’s better served elsewhere and taking the opportunity to go play where he’ll be utilized, and appreciated.

Guessing he was so frustrated over poor utilization that he is willing to sit a year with plans to play 2 more.........but Rutgers?

^^^This is a sad, disturbing outcome (Young's departure) about our program and coach. Has Young made any statements about why he left. I would like to hear it from his mouth.

Is it sad that I had no idea he was planning on getting some draft looks? I figured he was just leaving for Euro leagues or something.

What's sad to me is that he actually thought he is close enough to NBA ready to test the waters. Maybe with a true PG this year he can improve where he needs it in order to get drafted.
