Horns host UNO for three game set at Disch, really need sweep as they make their push for a top 16 seed so they can host a regional. Preview from Texassports: http://texassports.com/news/2018/4/...vs-new-orleans-april-20-22.aspx?path=baseball
Should be a relaxing non-conference weekend for us, while Oklahoma and Texas Tech beat each other up in Lubbock. Oklahoma State, unfortunately, should move up in the standings this weekend with its series against Kansas.
Okie State won its first game against Kansas, resulting in a conference-best 10-3 record. Texas Tech just took the first game in its series against the dirt burglars, resulting in 9-4 conference records for both, and a tie for third place. The Horns are currently in second place with an 11-4 record.
Horns fall behind 4-0 but score in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings to overcome deficits and take opening game 8-6. Rain may play role rest of weekend but we shall see.
Texas steals game two from the Privateers, 3-1. Meanwhile, Okie State won its second game against Kansas, while Tech took another from Oklahoma. It's getting tight at the top of the conference standings: 1. Oklahoma State: 11-3 (.786) 2. Texas: 11-4 (.733) 3. Texas Tech: 10-4 (.714) 4. Oklahoma: 9-5 (.643)
I’m starting to smell an Austin Regional. We have 13 games left....9 Conf & 4 OOC. The goal should be finish 6-3 in Conf & 3-1 OOC (pref 2-1 v TT). That will give us 37 wins, a chance to win the B12 & secure a regional. Tourney wins would be icing.
First two were more difficult than I thought they would be. Need to close this week out in style tomorrow!
Horns currently down 4-1 in the bottom of the 8th. Every single game against this team has been challenging. Who ARE these guys?
In other weekend news, Okie State secured its spot atop the B12 with a sweep of Kansas, Baylor swept TCU (the Frogs have reportedly had a lot of injuries), and K-State finally won a conference game against a team other than Texas (West Virginia). Oklahoma is up 7-1 over Tech in the bottom of the 7th – hopefully they can hang on for the win because Tech has been rolling lately.
