Lot's of 2019 & 2020 talent coming to Austin this weekend. The recruiting restrictions are from May 7th-13th. If a recruit is playing in the Check Me Out event in Austin, is it okay if they have an unofficial visit to Texas while they are in town? @Moooooo @BabHorn ??

The new recruiting restrictions prohibit contact of any kind from May 7-13, including unofficial visits. But, the days before that all is still allowed.

But the period starts May 7. The weekend event in Austin is from May 5-6. Should be okay for coaches to go see players and for players to come by for an unofficial visit before the dead period starts.
    Rules are rules! :smile1:

BTW, LutherisMyDog, thanks for the info on the Austin event. There's players there it would be nice to see in person under game conditions.

Edit: Although that doesn't seem likely. It appears to be more of a camp like the Elite camps colleges have during the summer. I will have to see if they are open to the public.

Premier Basketball just came out with their top players for the Texas 2020 class.

    https://premierbasketballreport.com/news/class-of-2020-texas-recap

Here are their evaluations of some of the players that Texas is recruiting.

Sarah Andrews (ProSkills 17u EYBL) is the next in a long lineage of terrific point guards from Irving MacArthur HS and the state of Texas. In recent years, Odyssey Sims (Irv Mac/Baylor), Alexis Jones (Irv Mac/Baylor), Moriah Jefferson (Home School/UConn), and Chennedy Carter (Timberview/Texas A&M) have proven to be high level impact players at the collegiate and professional levels. Sarah is in the same types of conversations as a high school player as her predecessors were. Sarah has been playing at a different level since the 2 nd round of district play this year, and it will be interesting to watch her compete amongst the others in the loaded 2020 national guard class at the U17 USA trials later this month.

Joining Sarah in the backcourt is arguably the most skilled guard in the class in Texas commit Deja Kelly (ProSkills 17u EYBL). Deja has been putting up monstrous numbers for years and is one of the most versatile and consistent perimeter performers in the country. Deja’s shot-making ability combined with her ability to run a team will serve her well at the next level. The poise and calm she brings to the floor helps her teams to play with a maturity that leads to wins.

Harmoni Turner (DFW Elite 17u EYBL) has been on the scene for quite a while and continues to improve each & every season. Harmoni’s combination of skill, athleticism, and ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor will make her an instant coach and fan favorite at the next level. She has the element as an elite level competitor and it brings her a resilience that allows her to make plays.

Jordyn Merritt (Cy-Fair 17u EYBL) is as skilled as any wing in the class. Merritt’s ability to shoot or create off the bounce against bigger defenders makes her a matchup nightmare. She knocks down the corner three-ball at a nice clip and her post-up ability is a nice weapon. Merritt was vital in Plano’s run to the 6A state championship this year.

The best post in the class is Hannah Gusters (ProSkills 17u EYBL). Hannah has an elite frame with soft hands, terrific lateral movement and a will to be great. Hannah’s confidence has skyrocketed in the last year or so, and she has the ability to turn some heads at the U17 National trials later this month.

One of my favorites is DeYona Gaston:

The depth in the 2020 class is at the wing/forward position. DeYona Gaston (HTX Fire 2019) is the ideal physical specimen on the wing. At 6’3”, DeYona shows flashes of pure brilliance. Gaston’s best days are in front of her and she has a chance to become a high-level impact player at the next level. She battled some injuries during the high school season this year, so we look for her to have a solid club showing all summer.

She's on our coaches' radar. Karen, George and Jamie all follow her on Twitter. It's rare to get three of our coaches following a player.

She camped with us last summer, which is great. Saw her retweet some stuff about Charli Collier the other day, too.

I think she could play both SF and PF (replacement for Joyner?) in college, and probably plays a lot inside for her high school team.

It doesn't seem like we go to head-to-head against Baylor for the same recruits very often. I expect that to change for the 2020 class as there are so many elite players in-state. We should have 4 or 5 slots available. Baylor is starting to "clear out" some room on their roster.

Hannah Gusters might be the one who is coveted moreso than others simply because it appears there aren't many elite Centers out there. Tiffany Jackson will need to give it her all to land her.

Mulkey has been recruiting Haley Van Lith, the #1 point guard out of Washington. In March, she and her assistants traveled to Washington to watch her play. I would be very happy if Mulkey focused on Lith for a 2020 PG rather than having to compete with Baylor for Sarah Andrews.

Deja’s team (LadyProSkills 17u EYBL) has five of the 13 players on the list. Only DFW Elite with three comes close. Betcha Deja is talking up Texas. :smile1:

    Hannah Gusters, C, #3 @ 94.0
    Deja Kelly, PG, # 4 @ 93.75

Love the confidence and the Longhorn connections. Hope we can parlay those connections into a LOI, culminating in a 2020 recruit.

A short clip of Harmoni Turner highlights. She's one of my favorite prospects in the 2020 class.

Harmoni has a mean change of direction to get free for a shot. Couple of nice passes, too.
