    Babs,

Are you just too young or have you forgotten how track impeded the football careers of Lam Jones, James Lott, Eric Metcalf, and Jamaal Charles, among others?

Ouch, double teamed. Didn’t he skip track one year? And still wasn’t that good.

All the more reason he needs practice time. He ain’t Allen Iverson

    Who skipped a year?

Small town, your best athletes typically participate in multiple sports, with the classic example perhaps Hart Lee Dykes.

As a senior, what does he need to be doing in the spring that track workouts won't accomplish?

I would also remind you that we went to a Philadelphia track meet to look at a couple of kids, when everyone started talking to us about "Metcalf". We didn't know who he was, but soon learned. Terry Metcalf had Eric's future mapped out including Olympics with a large shoe contract, and then narrowed the choices to Texas and Tennessee because of track. Fortunately, they chose us.

i'm with sabre. gotta let the big dawgs eat!

i think the fastest men in the world working on their speed is kinda practice. i honestly think baseball in the spring is more of a conflict, but not track.

Normally I would agree, but I am not sure Malik would have progressed enough to justify staying in school. If he had not learned to include pass coverage into his style of play from Strong and Orlando, he probably had plateaued. Third rounders in the NFL may not be expected to start, but they have to be contributors in year 1.

SMH...I just don't get it. There has to be more to this...
Oh well, looks like LJH will pick up that slack.
Still scratching my head on this one though.

I'm very comfortable wishing Reggie the best. Sometimes things are just more complicated than team allegiances and clashing with coaches.

If he had transferred to a JUCO near his hometown, or a D-1 school and sat out a year, I would have probably understood the situation a little better.

Surprised Fromm is that high. I like the guy but I expect he'll have a bit of a sophomore slump after losing their 2 star RBs.

That's like the least impressive Heisman hopeful class in a long time.

Agreed. Even if Calvin Anderson is the second coming of Casey Hampton, I don't expect an instant turnaround. Every player around him has to step it up, a lot, as well.

I understand your skepticism, I really do.

I am just thinking, maybe hoping is a better word, that having a solid experienced left tackle allows the other guys to switch back to more of their natural positions on the line.

A solid left tackle I hope will make a huge impact on everyone else!

Plus a couple Bama OL transfers are still out there ... don’t know if we have room left or not tho

Didn't forget any of them. I just don't think that running track impedes a FB player's ability to focus on FB when it's time to do so, especially with both the track and FB coaches in agreement on that the player can participate in both. They will only get that chance , for the last time, for the most of them, to play two sports in college. Let them enjoy that chance. Not all of them are Bo Jackson or Michael Jordan, among the very few that were able to play two sports professionally.

Players report back May 29 to begin “optional” workouts.
This will include Tre Watson and Calvin Anderson, as well as rest of the 2018s

Also, whatever transfer rumors were out there involving Devin Duvernay, Chris Nelson and Shane Buechele seem to have all been put to bed

Operative word being "rumors." All these bloggers and pseudo experts have to have blather to pass off as "fact" or "sources close to the situation say."

I swear that guys like Chip Brown have made a living off of making up plausible, totally unverifiable, hypotheticals.

I am going to give it a try:
    Toneil Carter Looking to Transfer
He was suspended at one point last year, and my sources say he was not happy about ball distribution before the suspension.

Just you try to prove me wrong! Also, once it becomes apparent that Carter was never going to transfer I can just say that Herman and he patched up their relationship during the spring.

How about that! I got as much cred as ole Chip and I am my own big cigar.

@Detective Shilala that’s some good info on Carter right there. Where do we send $9.95 for your newsletter?
