    Good luck ladies!!!

    :hookem:

I must admit the effort it took to muster up that modest level of enthusiasm. I am seriously conflicted because I want the dedicated student athletes to be successful for both them and the University. I also know success today keeps everything status quo for tomorrow. I hate feeling like this!!!

Big 12 goes 2-2 on opening day. Texas takes down Minnesota 2-1 with Paige pitching a complete game. Horns move on to the winner's bracket.

Jefferson had a poor game hitting with two very weak strikeouts. Hopefully, she has gotten the frosh jitters out of the way and she will start to hit the way she has this season.

OU tromps Boston Uni. 9-0 while OSU falls 8-2 to Wichita State. Baylor falls 11-10 to McNeese State.

    Saturday, May 19

4 p.m. CT Game No. 3 (Texas vs. Winner Game 2)

6:30 p.m. CT Game No. 4 (Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2)

9 p.m. CT Game No. 5 (Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 3)

That was really a boring game.
Texas just never give you a lot of Offense.
    Why.......

Boring? I guess only if you like high scoring games. I enjoy those as well as close, low scoring games. I didn't find it boring at all.

Horns twice give up two sets of doubles, resulting in Washington scoring a run each time.

Because thats what Texas usually does against quality pitching. We scored one or zero runs way too many times this year. Gotta say they gave a solid effort defensively.

Looks like we'll be playing Minnesota again who is beating Boise 7-2 in the 7th inning.

Tx State will be playing UCLA in an elimination game.

OU beats Tulsa 8-0 to move into the regional finals.

Baylor defeats McNeese State 6-0 and Prairie View A&M 9-0 to get to the regional finals.

Ok. State defeats DePaul 6-0 in the first elimination game but falls to Wichita State 5-4 in the second elimination game as they are eliminated from the tournament.

Horns drop a 3-0 decision to Minnesota. They out hit the Gophers 10-6 but had no timely, strung together hits that generated runs. That last inning was typical: Jefferson beat out a bunt to get on base, von Sprecken hit into a double play. A single by Leahy, then a pop up by Ellsworth to end the game.

Ok, it wasn't exactly 2&Q, but it's bad enough that CDC has to make the change. Like tomorrow. Texas State got bounced by ULCA, so Cat is available. The mediocrity that is Connie Clark has plagued this program far too long. There is too much high school talent in Texas for The University of Texas to not be in the hunt for championships!!

They didnt play poorly, but never really had a chance to win. That's the overwhelming problem with this team. They will never contend for a championship with the staff currently in place.

As I said in my email to CDC posted in another thread, too many good players and parents think the Texas program is a joke.

At least 50% and probably more of the top players will never seriously consider Texas as an option with Clark in place. Then Texas is too arrogant and does a poor job of properly evaluating the leftover talent. We will always get a pretty good list of players because we are Texas, but will never put together an elite team as long as Clark is the coach.

She is a lazy coach and will settle for whatever happens.

Don’t understand ESPN’s logic there if you are supposed to be televising all of the games. The rain delay shouldn’t have mattered unless the game was called.

I hope a change comes soon. They keep talking about consecutive NCAA playoffs by Connie. What's the point of going to a Regional when you can only win 1 game out of 3?

At one point, I was yelling at the TV, "Stop the bunting! Stop the bunting!"

I guess we'll see if CDC is a "Let's not rock the boat the first year into my job" guy or "Looking deeper, I see a negative trend" guy.

You really don't. Unless it is Kat, no one worth a damn will take the job regardless of money. It may not be popular amongst our fans, but word is out across the country, and it ain't good. Sorry, just being a realist.

Here's reality: if it ain't good, it ain't gonna get any better until there's a change. I don't know if Cat has any interest, but I believe CDC can find the softball equivalent of David Pierce.

The lack of run support dates back to the days of Cat that I recall, being that was when I became interested in Texas SB. Maybe it has been going on longer, I don't know.

But Connie has made changes (different hitting coaches, etc.) and while the team is hitting better, they are not being effective in generating runs.

Whether a HC change or a different hitting coach change needs to be made, something does have to happen. It is time for Connie to look at what Jody did, decide that she has taken this program as far as she can and step down. Five years of not reaching the Super Region is a pretty solid base for realizing that she has plateaued in where she can take the team, regardless of how many times she has guided the team to the NCAAs.

Re Cat taking over, I would prefer that she would have some head coaching experience first but that may not be a requirement if it's Cat. She certainly has the playing experience and has been an assistant/pitching coach for a number of years now, so she does have an understanding of what it takes to be a HC, assuming that is something she wants to do.

I agree and I disagree. I was mulling over who would come over to a conference that only fields 7 softball team in a conference named for 12 schools in which there are only 10! That's another letter for CDC on another day.

(all SEC schools made the tournament - welp)

The negatives: You only play 6 other schools in your conference. It's one of the lower stature conferences. The conference competition isn't that great. And, OU looms as the beast you have to fight each year. And, the fans are entitled.

The positives: Hey, you only play 6 other schools in your conference! You have a lot of flexibility in scheduling non-conference opponents. Texas pays coaches well and flies the team on charter planes and invests in the program. You have your own TV network where you can show your product remotely. This conference is good enough to sustain OU each year into a powerhouse. UT used to be a powerhouse, and it's not far off removed that it can't get back there. And the fans are...passionate.
