Wonder if SA has any shot at drafting him?

Sure do. Trade Dallas Kahwi for the #5 pick. Then you have a shot. IMO, Bamba will not fall below 6.

Kawhi is worth way more than the #5 pick, even given the current situation.

I hope the Spurs and Kawhi resolve any differences and he stays. They do need more production from the backcourt, though.

Obviously. I was talking about "having a shot." But Bamba is going way before the Spurs. Have to trade up to get him. Currently the spurs have one trade asset that a Top 5 draft team would say "yes" to.

Would rather him have gone to Dallas than Orlando.

i was really hoping dallas would have taken on some bad contracts for an extra pick (like memphis') to end up with luca and bamba.

Until "star" players decide that they want to play for Cuban (and I really don't see that happening anytime soon) nothing is going to change. Good drafted players will come and go as soon as they can.

that's highly inaccurate. the issue is signing big free agents.

That is what I said. Top tier free agents are avoiding Dallas in droves. The future stud free agents drafted by Dallas will not stay but move on. Nothing is going to change until Cuban sells the club.

I highlighted what I disagreed with. "Good drafted players will come and go as soon as they can." That is inaccurate. The Mavs don't lose drafted players they want to keep. The only player they ever lost that was a big loss was Nash. They lost him, not because he wanted to leave, but because the Mavs didn't think he'd have juice in the tank at his age to give him max money. Phoenix did pay him and he showed the Mavs they were wrong. Good drafted players don't come and go, let alone as soon as they can.

Dirk is the only drafted player who proved his worth and stayed in the Cuban era. Nash was gone no matter what. Bottom line Dallas will struggle to be 7 or 8th best in the West if that as long as Cuban owns the team. Everyone saw what Cuban did to a World Championship team and wants nothing to do with Cuban.

That's an interesting take, Viper. I just don't see where you get your Nash info. Don't think that's been true of players who play for him. Maybe true for players looking to sign. But getting free agents to come to Dallas was an issue before 2012. They've always had to draft or trade for their talent. Dallas has never been a sexy NBA city.

OTOH, Nowitzki and Nash together never made the Finals. But Dallas got there twice with Dirk in the post-Nash era.

    Mo Bamba's rookie debut: 13 points (6-8 FG), 7 rebounds, 3 blocks
