There is a huge shift playing out right in front of us
Reuters/Ipsos poll 16,000 shows Democrats have lost key ground with white millennials.
    Especially among men (-23%)
While the stinky old hippies here will never give in, it is refreshing to see more and more of the younger crowd beginning to think for themselves. It's a ray of hope for the future

Don't give 'em any more ideas.

Sadly she defeated Crowley soundly. It wasn't close. Part of the reason might be that her district has a burgeoning Hispanic population.

Yep. The district's demographics have changed over the last several years. It's almost 50 percent Hispanic at this point, and keep in mind that only white people are shamed if they vote based on race. Furthermore, his record was more moderate when he was younger, because his old district was less Democratic, which his opponent obviously exploited. Frankly, it's surprising that Crowley lasted as long as he did.

One thing that is a bit remarkable is that Crowley was chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, so he was a pretty important member of the House leadership and in the line of succession to become Speaker of the House if the Democrats were in control. Usually that carries weight in a primary election but not this one.

The brain doesn't finish developing the part that makes logical and rational decisions until your 20s or so. At some point around then, logical arguments start to take hold on some men if they're willing to have open and honest discussions. (I'm not saying that if they're logical and honest, they'll change their mind. I'm just saying they'll never change their minds if they aren't.)

Liberals will argue that at this point, they get married, and then the women start becoming more conservative as well because the men start bossing them around. I'd argue it's more that if they marry someone who's a logical thinker, they're more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and listen to what he has to say as opposed to, you know, calling him a nazi and unfriending him.

From what I've read, the voter turnout was horrible, too. I'm not sure this was a mandate so much as all her millennial buddies got out the vote and got the brunch-eaters involved, while the established democrats just assumed Crowley would win. Because... why would you worry about an influential established democrat with a track record being voted out for a 28-year-old bartender?

BTW, a sign of why I don't think the Dems are going to figure things out and reclaim the House: Politico runs an article warning the Dems that running a bunch of progressives may hurt them in the November elections, and they might want to look to moderates. The response on twitter is a bunch of people saying "THE MEDIA IS TRYING TO STOP US!!! Where are the articles telling Republicans to move to the middle??? It's so bogus!" Nevermind that the writer was trying to give them advice on how to WIN the election, and that the entire past 30 years has been made up of the media telling Republicans they need to run more moderate candidates.

Looking around on social media the democrat party is hoping that Cohen has something on Trump. It's sad because they have nothing to offer America except "Get Trump!". :rolleyes1:

Seems an odd thing to say by someone who relied upon unfettered capitalism to build her career, become wealthy and be put in a position to run for office as a celebrity.

What is the opposite of 'woke?'

A Democrat who's actually trying to stop his party's slouch toward Venezuela. Link. (It's Chris Coons - the guy who basically had a Senate seat thrown at him Roy Moore-style.)

Both countries who's people are drowning in personal debt. Both countries had a suicide rate twice as high as the U.S. until they became some of the most medicated people on this planet (antidepressants). Libs point to them as a success but I wouldn't say they are.

The worst problem that the Europeans have is that a Caliphate is growing right under their noses and they don't even know it.

I dont know Norway but I've been all over Denmark and I would guess closer to 90% (with an overall population in the range of my hometown). It is funny how they will trot out a homogeneous white culture whenever they need an example of socialism where 30%+ of the population was not killed or sent to camps. They used to always cite Sweden for this but then even the Swedes got sick of them.

The thing about modern socialism anywhere in the world is that none of it could exist at all without capitalism in other parts of the world willing and able to buy/consume their stuff. China since the 1980s is Exh A -- not possible without access to the US market. They would all be back on the farms. Socialism is like a virus. It cannot maintain itself without a host.
