Ann Coulter had a funny column called something like "dial 1 to learn how to say 'stop raping me' in English". She tweeted out part of it and they blocked it for being hate speech. The Left controls social media. Bad news for freedom of speech.
Not sure where to put this other than to say Twitter seems to have evolved into a forum for smack-talking and one-liners.

So why doesn't the right create some social media platforms of their own to counter the left? It just takes lots of money and good ideas, they're halfway there.
The arguably best satirical account on Twitter, has now been permanently suspended. Those in power have never tolerated being ridiculed.
To me this is refreshing. If you admit your bias, I have no problem with you. It's the fraudulent claims of objectivity that offend me.
One of the issues that has come up with regard to Dorsey and Zuckerberg is if their share price slips so much that they are removed, that the next level down of people at those companies ready to take over are even worse. That this next level of managers, where the replacements are likely to come from, approaches PC-culture with a kind of religious zealotry that will silence conservatives in even worse ways. The idea is that the originators of these companies, the original tech titans, were all staunch free speech proponents in the beginning. They all saw the internet as a place where free speech could not be suppressed, would never be suppressed. And they took some personal pride in events like the 'Arab Spring' where the various Govts could not silence the people. Times have clearly changed for them as they have become what they hated earlier in their lives, the suppressors of speech. But people who study these companies closely say is be careful what you wish for. Big picture for me is the admission from the left with these moves. They are conceding that their ideas and policies are so weak and unpopular that they cannot stand on their own. They admit they cannot sway minds on their own. They need help. That the only way they can win an argument is to have Big Brother keep the other side from speaking. It is all very Orwellian.
So how long before we start to see Twitter and Facebook removing campaign ads from conservatives? I think 2020 at the absolute latest. We may start seeing it in the next couple of months. Can you imagine the candidate for one of the political parties being disallowed from advertising on social media? Sadly, I can.
The question then becomes one of whether a Republican-heavy legislature would look to append the Equal Opportunity/Access doctrines enforceable by the FCC so that they ALSO applied at least to US-based social media platforms.

The Left already has control of -- -- The Media -- Television Networks, including cable -- Hollywood -- Silicon Valley -- the Music Industry (most of it) -- Newspapers -- K through 12 Education -- Universities They do not leave much for conservatives, do they? Just tiny corners here and there -- (sometimes) Fox News on cable, AM talk radio and little slivers of the internet. So what are they trying to do now? They are out to squash those little slivers of the internet where conservatives can be seen and heard (FB, Twitter, YouTube). It is not a bad strategy from their perspective. And they have tried to eliminate Fox News and AM radio multiple times already (the Fairness Doctrine didnt work in the past and cant work, but if they bring it back, I would personally love to hit my local fishwrap (@Chron) over the head with it -- no one deserves it more). In my search to figure out what is to be done about internet censorship, my first idea was to have the FCC declare these big internet companies as "common carriers." My next idea is to use the 1st Amendment on them. Yes, they are private businesses, but they are also essentially now the "town square." And there is at least some legal precedent to apply the 1st in this situation. And the ads idea you describe above might make for a good court case on this.
No joke! I remember all the decades of denying bias in the MSM. It was all a right wing conspiracy. Up until Fox News was formed and then media bias was a real thing except it only applied to Fox News.
Another example of what they are doing -- speaking out against voter fraud will get you banned -- makes me wonder if the poster here who says voter fraud in the US is a myth works at Twitter?

The above screenshot is actually kind of stupid. The reason there's an ad is because the candidate used his brain and ran a search ad that was supposed to trigger for that particular search term. That's reality, deal with it. As for the other, I searched for that title and both names are bolded. Pretty sure the bold font signifies the presence of a hyperlink in that text on the site. Maybe someone hadn't added the hyperlink to his name at that time. It's there now.
