Uh oh, looks like golden boy O'Rourke stepped on his dong with his “nothing more American than deciding to take a knee during the national anthem" statement. That's not going to play well in Texas (except with people who weren't going to vote for Cruz anyway).

I saw that video on Twitter. The liberals were just fawning over this guy as the second coming of Obama. Came across as a used car salesman to me.

Even the Soros-funded Politifact now concedes Beto's "legal issues"

Should make for some good TV debates --
    -- Beto's multiple criminal arrests
    -- his Open Borders position
-- his support of gun control
-- the fact that his campaign is funded by Hollywood
-- his position on kneeling NFL employees
-- his desire to raise taxes/repeal Trump's tax cuts
-- his desire to bring back the regulatory state
-- whether he will "come out" as a socialist as some of the other Dems are doing
-- is he in favor of a state income tax for Texas?
-- his love of the use of imminent domain
-- his belief that he would have a vote to impeach Trump (that is something for the House not the Senate)
    -- and, of course, abortion

And might be a good litmus test for where this state is headed, generally

While we have had some memorable televised debates for the Governor's Office, I cannot remember when we last had a Senate debate of note --
    Phil Gramm vs. Lloyd Doggett?
    Lloyd Bentsen vs George Bush?
    Ralph Yarborough vs George Bush?
John Tower vs. Barefoot Sanders? (who once offered me a clerkship)
Lyndon Johnson vs. Everett Dirksen? (I dont even know if this one was actually on TV but it was probably worth watching)

Is Beto just after California money?
Be interesting to see how much unspent campaign funds are left over with him and where that money manages to find itself in the end

Now Beto is calling for decriminalization of illegal border crossing! Holy Hell, he is a California-class liberal nut job.

Once again, media polling did not come close to matching actual voting results

It's worse than that. It is Chicago money dressed in California clothing.

There could be an opportunity to unseat a Democratic Senator in New Mexico. Gary Johnson is running as a Libertarian and has Rand Paul's endorsement. A Republican (Mick Rich) is running but has very little support. Johnson outpolls him by a lot. But Heinrich's (the Democratic incumbent) numbers aren't that high - well below 50 percent. If Rich dropped out and endorsed Johnson, this race would go from safe D to toss up.

McSally would be a shoo-in in any other year. She'll still most likely win, but it'll be close. It would have been much better if she didn't have to fart around with freak shows Ward and Arpaio.

Florida Dems picked a full blown Bernie Sanders/Ocasio-Cortez backed Socialist, Andrew Gillum, for Governor.

I'm beginning to hear the term Socialist Democrat thrown around quite a bit. If there are any moderate Dems still around, they better come forward and do something pretty quick. That party is lurching left like a car with a blown tire.

I think that one is also under FBI investigation

Although the math favors him -- "Dems + FBI = no charges"
I guess he is lucky its not the State AG after him

Be prepared for a full-blown media rim job for Gillum.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

I have a slogan. Vote for Gary Johnson: Senators don't need to know about Alleppo.

Do they need to know how to spell "Aleppo?" Lol

Also, nobody in New Mexico gives a crap if Johnson knew what was happening in Aleppo. Probably 2/3 of the Congress would have been about as uninformed.

    Drain the swamp?
    Naw.
    He'll get re-elected.

San Diego doesn't have a good record of choosing its congressmen. In the last several years, they've sent Duke Cunningham, Bob Filner, and Duncan Hunter to Congress. Not a record to be proud of. And Hunter initially threw his wife under the bus and blamed it all on her. That's gonna be a nasty divorce when he goes to jail.

As for the election, it's a R+11 district. That obviously gives him an advantage, but it's not insurmountable in a Democratic year and a scandal-ridden incumbent. If I had to bet, I'd bet on him losing.

One anecdotal story I heard on a podcast...
Duncan Hunter was at a golf tournament and needed some golf balls. His wife told him to buy them from the Pro Shop and "call them Balls for Wounded Veterans" and charge it to his campaign.

This Congressman and his wife are pretty sleazy based on the evidence at hand.

Then perhaps she actually is as sleazy as he initially suggested.

He and his wife have $30k of OVERDRAFT FEES in a 7 year period. Think about that.

But still paid $600 to have their rabbit flown on a commercial aircraft for a family vacation.

    Wounded Warriors.

The good people at VOX think Texas Rs screwed up on Beto

But to try and make their argument, they have to misstate and overlook a few facts --
    (1) he was not just "a kid" as alleged but rather 26
    (2) he crashed into a truck driving at “a high rate of speed”
    (3) the impact was enough to spin him across the highway median into oncoming traffic
    (4) he attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by a third-party witness
    (5) he blew 0.136 and a 0.134 on the breathalyzers
    (6) as the son of a judge, he was charged with DWI but allowed deferred adjudication and the charges were later dismissed.
    Other than that .....

Cruz changed his obstruction tune when Trump won. That was smart - he deserves re-election
