https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... story.html https://sputniknews.com/us/201809041067 ... ssination/ Is Woodward reporting accurately or is he a deep state asset? If you drag Mattis and Kelly in front of Congress their testimony; what they choose to say makes or breaks Trump.
The media will use the next two pre-midterm months to constantly interview Woodward, quote from his book, and have various psychologists give opinions as to whether or not Trump is slipping into psychosis. If effective, the democrats could gain seats having people question if its safe to have Trump remain in office. So some of the Republicans don't vote and the Democrats vote in mass to "save the country from Trump." Then, the Congress impeaches the President on grounds of mental incompetence and trots out all kinds of people and psychologists giving examples of erratic behavior. After that, the big guns are called out (Kelly, Mattis, various others) to verify Woodward's account. The press has a field day and even Trump supporters question if Trump has all his marbles. Get ready.
No! Say it ain't so!! The media will try to take down Trump? The leftists will try to impeach him? You have got to be kidding! Where do you get such silly ideas?
The leftists and media will use his own staff to take down Trump. Or else his staff will say Woodword misquoted them or lied. Which way do you think Mattis and Kelly will go when its crunch time?
According to the history books, becoming increasingly isolated and dealing poorly with reality has happened with previous presidents. The best you can say about Trump is that he's placed people in power who can thwart whimsical ideas with no chance of success. I don't think you can be impeached for generally lying and having an out-of-touch, narcissistic outlook. Lying under oath would be another matter. I congratulate the people around Trump for keeping him from giving sworn testimony … because I don't think that man could resist telling lies on top of lies. It was also smart to keep him from recording an interview on tape with Woodward … a man who trusts his judgement, covers his *** and can smell ******** from the first whiff.
If you are referring to Woodward, it looks like he can dish out bull**** as well as smell it according to those refuting his crap. As we have seen twice already with Trump’s critics, authors believe sensationalism sells books. It also seems to appeal to television and print media. I disagree with you. The best you can say about Trump is he is actually completing his agenda, which is the reason he was elected.
Woodward has an impeccable reputation as a journalist … unless you think Nixon should have remained in Power. I'm sure the Trump propaganda machine over at Fox News can put a happy face on the revelations, but the truth is we're being led by a powerful, egotistical man who thinks he can understand the complicated without taking time think carefully.
Well, it seems that the reputation of the infallible Woodward has taken a hit. I guess his shine wore off a little 50 years after someone gave him a story to write. All Presidents have giant egos. Trump understands business, leverage, and what makes the economy improve. That is clearly superior to his predecessor who could only helplessly ask “what are you going to do to bring back manufacturing jobs?”
I think even for a president, Trump's ego is off the charts. On the other points, you make good points.
The Dems and MSM made a strategic mistake on Trump. They have been screaming their heads off from day one about so many different scandals that it has all become noise by now. Nearly 2 years since Trump's election no direct evidence of Russian collusion has surfaced. At this point, most non-liberals are just rolling their eyes and thinking "there they go again." Credibility matters.
In criminal investigations, it's very typical for a bit of the damning evidence to be made public at indictment and a flood tide at trial. I don't know if there is evidence against Trump, but I don't know that there is not. To this point, Trump has not allowed himself to be interviewed.
I believe that most of the voting public understands the game being played. The Dems can't defeat Trump on the merits of his policies because the success of those policies is self-evident. Therefore, they attack him on his character, and there are ample avenues Trump has allowed for those attacks. However, his unique failings were all before he was President. Trump should not allow himself to be interviewed. Nor should any other President. If that is allowed, the flood gates would open for their political opponents. Remember that dragging the lifeless corpse of "Russian collusion" around for the length of Trump's Presidency has always been the goal, and that was stated at the beginning of his Presidency. There is no merit to the collusion accusation. There is merit to Russian interference, which is different. That occurred under Obama's watch, and because the Democrats did not take the necessary steps to protect their own data, or the data of the U.S.A. in the case of Hillary's private server and Debbie Wasserman Schultz' computers. The call to "impeach Trump" was started by the Dems before he took office without any justification.
The attack on Trump has been based on Russian collusion. This is fraudulent and hasn’t worked as anticipated. What the Woodward book does is shift the attack away from collusion and force Trump to defend his mental wellness. If the primary actors in the book substantiate Woodward’s narrative, it’s a whole new ball game. As far as Trump’s accomplishments and failures, it’s a mixed bag. 1. While cracking down on immigration, the bureaucratic barriers remain in place and Mexico isn’t funding a Wall anytime soon. The perception of stemming the flow is there however, so you can say this is an accomplishment. 2. Health care. Costs continue rising faster than the income for most Americans and Obamacare remains (until the system collapses). No accomplishment here from what I can see. 3. Regulations on large industry have been reduced. Good for profits and bad for the ecosystem in terms of pollution. Ditto the banking system. Temporary profits and growth by reducing short term costs and increasing long term costs, risk, and instability. 4. Foreign policy. Nobody understands what the goals are and who is in charge. Military expenditures keep rising as do annual deficits and the national debt. For my money, the election of Trump has exposed the systemic corruption that has engulfed all aspects of government bureaucracy. Nothing is being done to correct it but at least more people are realizing how severe the problem is.
Did LBJ get the Great welfare giveaway during first 1.5 years? Wasn't he also dealing with the viet nam war with military people coming back in coffins? Crockett I could go research it but what accomplishments do you think LBJ had at the same point early in his admin?
Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights acts. There was massive injustice across the South. If he had died in 1965, LBJ would be remembered kindly by history.
The Great Society has been one of the most costly and biggest failures of any US President. I always hear about how the Iraq war was so expensive and a waste of money. Well, how about all the wasted money on the so called "War on Poverty" that has resulted in more dependency and poverty. Not to mention how LBJ raided the Social Security coffers to pay for it. Just disgraceful.
Citing LBJ on accomplishments is like saying, "that Thanos sure did get a lot done in that Infinity War movie."
In the short term and medium term, tax cuts and/or increased spending will always increase economic numbers, GDP, and so forth. This process involves borrowing from the future to prop up the present. Eventually the debt compounds and the house comes down. Currently Argentina, Turkey, and perhaps China have hit the apex and now will plunge toward the abyss. The US is using stimulus to keep the system growing. The combination of military power, demand for US dollars as reserve currency, and virtual control of financial mechanisms such as the IMF allows the party to continue. As China, Russia, and lesser nations try to free themselves from these parameters, the US unipolar world order comes under threat. The fight we see between the establishment and those backing Trump has to do with who calls the shots. Both factions are imperialists but have different views on implementation.
To be apples and apples voting rights act was passed Aug 1965. It is also worth noting that LBJ had major cooperation from Repubs most especially in Civil Rights act when he did not get support from some Dems. Dems have shown nearly ZERO support for POTUS Trump.
Assuming you are right, and I’m skeptical, you found one that may have done more. Just one better than the buffoon.
