Wow, what a sh!t show. I thought it couldn't get any worse, but now (third day) Cory Booker says he is going to release some confidential emails of Kavanaugh's that have to do with racial profiling. I guess it's the only way he can think of to bring race into the proceedings.

If he does, it will be in violation of Senate rules and he could theoretically be expelled from the Senate.

This whole proceeding should be an embarrassment to Dems every where. It has been disgraceful.

He won't be expelled. It takes 2/3 to do that. What this should tell you is how important the Left views the Court. It cannot afford to lose it. Too much of its agenda depends on it.

Booker called it his "I am Spartacus" moment.

He's trying to out Kapernick kapernick.

    Booker can suck it.

Basically, he is showing me that he doesn't care about rules because he knows that he won't have to suffer any consequences for his actions.

The delusions of grandeur and heroism these people have is just ridiculous. What he's doing takes no courage whatsoever. He won't be expelled or punished in any meaningful way. What he will do is cause future nominees to be less forthcoming and grant access to fewer documents. He is also establishing a new precedent. There will be a Democratic nominee to the Court some day, and some self-serving Republican who wants to run for President (like Booker does) will flout the rules to promote himself.

Point of order...the email that Booker released has already been cleared for release yet not released. Grassley released the "committee confidential" email following Booker's release, of which these email were included.

Booker was in violation for releasing them prior to the committee's formal release.

From the "Duh" department, Kavanaugh questions whether Roe v. Wade is settled law. This removes all doubt that this justice position is a fight for abortion rights. Y'all might not like the theatrics of the left but they are justified.

Conversely, the late release of 10's of thousands of documents to the committee is making a mockery of any vetting process.

To a watcher of these hearings one might get the impression that this is a planned carnival by both sides with the sole intent to appeal to their base while avoiding acknowledging the inevitable.

You do realize that his quote from 2003 is (1) consistent with his previous testimony and (2) accurate, right? People are treating this as a bombshell. It's not. This is mostly Cory Booker hanging his junk out in the wind for 2020.

Only a duh-mbass would jump to the conclusion you reached...

Is this 15 year old memo indicative of Kavanaugh's personal point of view, or is it, as your own link quotes, Kavanaugh's perspective of the overall legal landscape?

What he wrote is 100 percent accurate and noncontroversial. This was his statement

This is true. Most do, but some do not. Kavanaugh is correct.

Also true. The Supreme Court can overrule its own precedent anytime it wants. If it couldn't, then segregation would still be "settled law."

William Rehnquist (who had dissented in Roe v. Wade), Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas. Yep, he was right.

Did I claim that is was anything other than documentary evidence that Roe v. Wade is in doubt? For the left, that's important. I assumed it was important for conservatives based on their support for a clearly immoral POTUS. This seat is their payoff.

To cut to the chase, liberals nor conservatives care about the "law" in this case. They both care about the agenda that shapes the interpretation of law when it comes to abortion rights.

Roe v. Wade is important to both sides. However, what I'm saying is that his comments in 2003 aren't indicative of anything. Ruth Bader Ginsburg could just as easily have written that, because it's factually accurate. If you actually look at Kavanaugh's record, he is not a slam dunk to overturn Roe. (He should be, because it's a BS case regardless of what anyone thinks of abortion, but he's not.) In fact, he refused to join a dissent that criticized Roe.

What does the constitution has to do with abortion? Explain that and I might buy you a cup of coffee.

There was no vetting process by the Dems. They screamed their intentions to vote against this guy before most of them even knew who he was. What good would another 40,000 docs do? Could they convince a single Dem to vote for him? I doubt it.

From what I've heard, there have been more of Kavanaugh's documents released than the last 4-5 candidates combined. Cetainly more than Sotomayor and Kagan released. The Repubs treated Obama's appointments with respect compared to this fiasco.

So, apparently those emails Booker was taking his "Spartacus" moment on were already approved for release and he knew that they were prior to his proclamation.

Democrats have never been fans of reading all the documents available before. Why should they start now? Make an uninformed vote on Kavanaugh. It won't change anything.

Maybe they should listen to the immortal advice of Nancy Pelosi and apply it to this hearing:

You have to confirm Kavanaugh to find out what's in Kavanaugh.

Whether it was against the rules or not, it was a flagrantly self-serving political stunt. Can there be any doubt that he's running in 2020? He might be the biggest attention-seeker in politics right now - makes Sheila Jackson-Lee look dignified and classy.

I saw this on Twitter. It just clarifies what has already been posted on the thread.

George W Bush's records representative, Bill Burck, was asked to clear the "leaked documents" by Cory Booker's staff the night before he "leaked them". Burck had already told Booker he could use the documents publicly.

Deez is right. Booker is an attention *****.

Yet I heard an ABC news blurb this morning that implied Booker had gone out on a limb to leak these documents. The MSM is mostly complicit in Booker's little scam.

Big shock - that briliant legal mind Paul Krugman opposes Kavanagh. Link

Kavanaugh is so partisan that Kagan invited him to teach her class back in the day.

I actually am not a big fan of Kavanaugh. He did a lot of the leg work to start the Patriot Act. He may be an originalist in some ways but in others enlivens the meaning to fit it in what politicians want legal cover for.

That's what's a bit silly about this. Kavanaugh's record doesn't suggest that he's a rigid ideologue. I think he'll be a little to Kennedy's right but not with Thomas, Alito, or Gorsuch. He'll probably be similar to Roberts.

I think that's a fairly accurate assessment. Of course the left wing is foaming at the mouth simply because Trump nominated him. It's utterly reflexive, without even a smidgen of reason behind it.

If Trump had not been the one to nominate him most Dems would have voted for him
But this is giving them camera time to set up their 2020 runs And to trash Trump.

Their right but how they treated a good man in front of his children is despicable.

After watching that circus, is there any doubt that the Dems would have done the same thing that Republicans did to Garland if the situation were reversed. There was no doubt in my mind before but now it should be clear to everyone.
