I know. I'm saying that since faking the fair catch signal is already illegal, there's no reason to try and make a rule to penalize what the North Texas guy did. Since he never signaled fair catch, the coverage guys should have been gunning to clobber him the moment he got the ball. Their fault for not doing this.
About a decade ago, a Colorado kick return guy tried a similar trick on Texas. He caught the ball in the endzone, stood there for a second, and then casually started walking toward the referee. The difference is we caught onto the fact that he hadn't knelt, and one of our guys ran over and tackled him.
