In the top 10 for the first time since the first four weeks of 2010, prior to 34-12 loss to UCLA/Rick Neuheisel "The Coaches" still have still have us behind ou The AP Top 25 Poll
Texas takes care of business the rest of this month, they will leap frog a lot of people when they stomp a mudhole in WVU and destroy Will Greer's Heisman hopes. Can't stress this enough, we get 2 weeks to heal and prepare for Okie Lite. That extra week is going to be huge for the coaches.
BTW I just want to know who are the stupid voters that are voting Ohio State and Clemson 1st place votes? Obviously they don't watch the games, or they have an agenda.
I still feel like that's a little high, and I'd rather us keep sneaking up, but at this point, the hype's in full swing so might as well roll with it. If the team keeps its head on straight we can go into a home game with WV as a top 5 matchup. DKR will be absolutely nuts.
BTW just looked down the schedule and our game with Kansas is set for noon the day after Thanksgiving. That stadium may well be empty except for the seniors' parents.
Notre Dame is a big reason, I wish they'd move to 8 games, but so are the pollster agendas. Keep the "right teams" in top despite actual performance. 8-team playoff lessens agenda setting imo. With Notre Dame in the mix, pollsters have to manage the other 3 slots. I don't like it.
I would prefer that the AP had us where coaches do, top ten just seems high. This team thrives on motivation and no better motivator than the no one believes in us but us motivator.
I was thinking about this yesterday. Our schedule was front loaded and we weathered the storm, take care of Baylor get a break to scout the pokes and be ready to dominate them. 1 win away from going bowling
Yeah I wonder if we are top 10 right now, but this team is playing well and who knows? We are not ready for Bama, not sure about Georgia, tOSU, Clemson, ND but I think we can compete with them. One thing I feel pretty confident about though is that Tom Herman has us trending the right way. It feels good just to be where we are right now.
LSU without a doubt because that means they will have beat Alabama and Georgia. It also means at least LSU and Alabama will make the Playoff with Georgia playing Texas in the Sugar Bowl.
Ah, I assumed it meant current 1-loss teams. So I assumed we needed to take likely losses (to Alabama) into the equation. I think LSU is the least likely to make the playoff.
I'll just say that Saturday was Top 10 Longhorn Games I have ever attended! (And Trust me I've been Many Many Games). I was so Proud of our Team and Yes!.....Our Crowd was FANTASTIC! Being "in the Mix" after such a Long wait feels like a "Rebirth". It's been TOOOOOO LONG! I wasn't planning on attending the Baylor game but by God I am now! Those Players deserve our support after that performance!!!
I think #9 is about right. We have beaten 4 ranked teams in a row. I don't think any other one loss team has done that.
Has any other team done that? No not in a row. Here are the undefeateds' and their wins against ranked teams (ranked at the time they played): - ND has beaten 3 ranked teams - Clemson beat aggy, but aggy was not ranked when they played - NC State's only game against a ranked team was WVa and that game was canceled - WVa beat Tech - tOSU has beaten TCU and State Penn - Colorado has yet to play a non-high school team - Georgia beat South Carolina - Alabama beat aggy Unless I missed someone, not only has no currently undefeated team not beaten 4 ranked teams in row, only ND (3) and tOSU (2) have played more than 1 ranked team, and Colorado has yet to get to the University portion of their schedule.
Should be of benefit to recruiting, up to this point it's been pitches to them from UT coaches: "Yeah, we've been a bit down, but join us, when we start winning again, it won't be like we're Boise State, we'll be in the mix in a second." Now they can believe it.
Believe it not, I think the best possible outcome is Texas getting screwed out of the CFP. We get great exposure, it motivates the recruits, and we likely avoid a loss.
I think we can agree that I mis wrote. Should have read 3 ranked teams, and one very tough ksu team on the road. I may be wrong, but I don't think any one loss team has beaten 3 ranked teams at this point. ND is undefeated, and they have beaten 3 ranked teams. They are ranked ahead of us, as they should be.
That game looks huge at the moment. It's in Austin, hopefully at night. WVU has ISU and Baylor (Thurs game) in between while we have Baylor and OSU. I am not sure who thought back in August this would be a battle of two top 10 teams but it's now very possible.
Hopefully we get game day in Austin that weekend. As of today, the only competition that week is Alabama vs. LSU or Georgia vs. Kentucky
It's an internet poll. Your answer doesn't have to be defensible. Hook 'em! That may well be true, especially since I'm not sure this year is the year we want that rematch with Alabama. But having said that, I'd still rather be there than not.
Kentucky will have at least one more loss (Mizzou) by 03/11; Alabama/LSU wil lbe the top attraction so they will get the prime time slot (morning or evening).
