... so I came across these early Bowl Projections today and thought it was worth an investment of Tuesday time to ponder just for fun ... Dec. 28 Valero Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Colorado Camping World Bowl: Miami vs. Texas Tech You can view the entire list here : College Football Bowl Projections: Week 7 Rankings and Playoff Forecast
I just want to be back in a very respectable bowl with a good opponent and beat them. Is that so much to ask? Not sure if we are playoff ready this year.

There is still alot of football to be played, but I'm just happy that the team isn't struggling for bowl eligibility on the last game of the season for once.
I'll be surprised to be standing in the playoff picture at the end. It's way more fun than the last few years though. Lol
I get it. The excitement / fun again of 5-1 with Bailer coming up & a BYE week - after the long journey we've had through the wilderness....... but, from where I was mentally after the MD & Tulsa games some weeks ago, I just cannot let myself get ahead of the games this team needs to focus on and take care of one at a time... I will think more about potential bowls after @ Okie Lite, WVA & @ Tech
This. I think we drop at least one more game to W. Va. and/or OK State (in Stillwater) and/or Tech (in Lubbock). Running the tables is hard. Winning 2 out of those 3 is an accomplishment. Even if we run the tables, we still have to replay OU or W. Va in the conference championship. I just don't see it this season. However, I am still happy with this season. Way more fun than the last few years combined. Moving in the right direction. Getting several monkeys off our back (TCU, KSU, and OU already). Herman has made it fun again. That is enough for me right now
Only fun I've had at the Fiesta Bowl was Donnie Duncan finally being exposed for what he really was. Right now, I want NO part of UGa
I am so happy that we are not looking forward to another toilet bowl after not playing in any bowls. Any upgrade is wonderful and out of the football bowl wilderness. We are all finally having some fun during a season. "TEXAS IS BACK"
I think we are a year (or two??) away from being able to compete with the big boys. So my ideal result would be for us to win out but be screwed out of a playoff position. We then go to a New Year's Day bowl with a chip on our shoulder, and win big. This would yield a great season, AND increase the pressure on the NCAA to expand to 8 teams. Win, win.
Realistically we could get blindsided tomorrow or at any time between now and the end of the year, but from what I have seen of the landscape this year, aside from Alabama and perhaps Georgia, I’m not sure there is a team we couldn’t hang with. I’m not impressed with tOSU and Clemson, and I have to wonder about ND. Again, I’m not saying we will catch lightning in a bottle (although we sort of already have) but I do think we are a good team, getting better. And if — it’s a big “if” — we can bring our A game every time, I like our chances. I have always believed that the most important variable to success is coaching. I really like what I am seeing since Tulsa from TH.
Agree with this but my only issue with Herman is he and his teams since he has been a head coach seems to play to the level of its competitors. We can beat an ou but look like newbies against a Tulsa. Just hope it doesn’t cost us a game
The six-year extension, which starts in 2019, will ensure the Valero Alamo Bowl continues to feature the first choice of teams from the Big 12 and Pac-12 conferences after the College Football Playoff selections. I would love to see us play there.
We take care of each game and Texas will get a shot at the playoffs, we will be the hottest name out there and I feel pretty good about us getting picked over any other one loss team.
We have allowed so many easy points I can't in my wildest dreams not see a stumble or two along the way. A bad day for the offense or the turnover bug biting again seems assured at some point. I hope not but thinking playoffs this year seems like a huge mountain to climb. Too many undefeated teams would need two losses the rest of the way for us to pass them.
