Said this in another thread, LSU will probably jump us and maybe even Michigan, maybe. Here's what I'm predicting: 1. Bama 2. Ohio State 3. Clemson 4. Notre Dame 5. LSU 6. Texas 7. Michigan 8-20. Aggy will cry
Ducks should be top 6. Crazy boneheaded loss to Stanford in ot. I hope Georgia drops below 7, but probably not.
Lol, just keep winning and everything will work itself out. Do we deserve this high of a ranking? Maybe, maybe not, but I know that we are taking care of business since the 1st week and now we are solid in the top 10 and control our destiny. I'd rather play Bama and get beat down then not make the playoffs at all.
I think Georgia will stay ahead of us as well this week. But I don't really worry about the SEC. LSU and Georgia will both have to play Bama. That takes both of them off the table. Our biggest risk (assuming we can win out which is maybe 10-20%) is that Bama loses 1 so that 2 SEC teams make, Or ND goes undefeated. And no guarantee we jump a 1 loss ND team although I think that's pretty likely. Really need USC to win 8-9 games.
The fun thing about college football rankings is that they have absolutely nothing to do with what anyone "deserves." (That was a sarcastic jab at the pollsters btw, since that never translates over on the Internet!)
I would give us about a 5% chance of winning, but 60-70% chance of not being a blowout at the start of the 4th quarter.
If the Horns play Bama this year one problem would be that we'd have to punt --- a lot. The other problem would be that we WOULD be punting a lot.
I feel pretty confident that Tua would still be playing in the 4th quarter. That isn't saying much but I think our Dbs are good enough to limit the Bama passing game about as much as we did Oklahoma, the difference is I think LJ and CJ would give their pass defense fits. We would lose about 45 to 31 or something close to that.
Sorry but we are just not Bamma ready yet. I think maybe two years away. Also we may only move up to #7 this week. I hope it would be better.
Alabama’s non-conference opponents: Louisville, La-Lafayette, Arkansas State, The Citadel. In conference you can argue Aggie has been their toughest test so far. They still have to play AT LSU, Miss St., Auburn and if they get to the SEC championship game, very physical Georgia or red hot Florida. AND with a hobbled Tua, however their backup is pretty good too. So don’t pencil in Alabama YET. Lotta football to be played.
After the Maryland game I could not imagine being concerned about being ranked too high at this point. LSU might be the hottest thing right now. They whipped a very good Georgia team, and their loss to Florida might turn out to not look so bad.
I don't see Clemson or Michigan making it. LSU in the bowl and then week 2 the following season man the hype train for that one by the media would be crazy
Plus their higher preseason ranking is keeping them ahead of Florida even though both teams have the same record and the Gators won the head to head.
