And 7 of those 20 were garbage points with a minute left.

When the game was in doubt, Maryland's offense put up 44 and ours put up 13. Granted we lost a few possessions from all those D/ST scores giving Maryland back to back drives with no Texas drive in-between.

It was garbage time but didn't Collin dominate that drive? I was liking his effort. He made some grabs in traffic.

Agreed. In my post, I didn't mean to overtly praise the O, just not put their woes mostly on Shane. One of my concerns with Shane was throwing to guys that weren't open or forcing it when receivers were in tight coverage.

How about the fact that you never go for 2 early in the 3rd quarter. Especially when the other team has already missed an extra point! Worst decision of the game, in a game filled with dumb decisions!

I was at the game, on the 50 and in the shade for most of it, and clearly saw that Shane and the team were tight, thinking too much; about plays, assignments and "taking care of your teammates back" (mind your front, dammit!)

I fully expect the team to play much more instinctively this week and look like an entirely different squad when we punk the men of Troy (wherever the hell that is/was).

You may be right. But even if our D stuffs them, then they punt from midfield flip our field position advantage. Which was huge considering our struggling offense and defensive "inconsistency" . So still, if TH used your path to decide to go for it, i.e. relying on defense to hold them, we lose great field position. Truly baffling.

Oh, don't misunderstand me, cary, I think it was a stupid decision given all the circumstances. Just speculating as to the motive.

I wonder if he was thinking Maryland was going to drive for a score either way given how things had been going.

I jokingly said something to that effect in the game thread. Let them score quicker so our inept offense might have more time to try and score. :brickwall:

Darrell Royal undoubtedly rolled over in his grave at the coaching decisions Herman made last Saturday. It was as if Mike Leach was coaching the Longhorns.

I have nothing but respect for shane, but I need to point something out. He looks like he has never visited a weight room in the time he has been at Texas. Colt looked like that also, then he bulked up by his 3rd year as a starter he was pretty stout. If anything is holding Shane back it would be this.

If that is the case it is the coaches' fault. He is on scholarship which requires complying with coaches' orders.

I actually had the opposite impression. His traps look big and his arms are well defined. Not sure how "bulked up" a QB needs to be.

Some guys are just slow gainers and have difficulty adding mass. Not everyone responds to training at the same rate.

Very cool. Yes hit the weights and get on the supplements. He looks small. it's great that he is focused and ready to go, he could be our starter for the rest of the season.
    Nice that he didn't bail!
    Hook em Shane.

I thought the same as HIC. Shane looks much thicker in his shoulders neck and arms than he did as a freshman. Looks to me like he could take some hits.

Looks like a 1/2 gallon coffee can without the label.

Maybe it's a 2-quart can of WhoopAss for Shane to carry around for a couple of days.
