The point isn't to get him in jail. The point is to bankrupt him so he won't ever be heard from again.

He appears to be having all sorts of financial issues.
Do you think some rich lib bagman will continue to foot the bill for him? Or will they all just let him and his clown show sink?

I've read that Swetnick fabricated an entire whacky story about breaking her nose on the DC Metro costing her a “modeling job” so she could then sue the city for $420,000.

This occurred ~ 2 years after she got fired from a different job for fabricating her past work experience and education.

So, maybe they actually have a shot with her

I can't imagine a rational person would think he's caused anything but harm yet they don't seem to be able to regulate their own side. The over the top attacks are standard operating procedure. Now they want civility.

Not sure why an abortion farm is weighing in on this
But, in any event, not even Julie Swetnick still believes the sworn statement of Julie Swetnick

Most abortions are pushed by not very empathetic men (jerks to put it mildly). Thus, being seen on the side of women is a plus for them.

If this Burkman guy is a repub equivalent of the idiot that representative Swetnick, then the repubs need to denounce it...Now.

Stuff like this can backfire and ruin the reputation of an entire political party. It can stain a political career forever (Feinstein). If this isn't 100 percent legit, denounce it and walk away from it.

The timing is questionable at best.

If legit, by all means go forward ...but this needs to be checked out before going forward

Christine Blasey Ford's two "no-strings attached" GoFundMe campaigns are up ~$840,000 and are still open and growing

    RCP wrote about this --

During the crucible of Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation hearings, Democrats repeatedly asserted that Christine Blasey Ford had “nothing to gain” by coming forward with her explosive accusation of attempted rape against the Supreme Court nominee.

"You had absolutely nothing to gain by bringing these facts to the Senate Judiciary Committee,” Sen. Dick Durbin said during her testimony last month. This sentiment was echoed by other Democrats, who presented it as evidence that Ford was telling the truth. "I want to thank you,” added California Sen. Kamala Harris, “because you clearly have nothing to gain for what you have done."

In fact, Ford stands to gain some $1 million and counting from national crowdfunding campaigns launched by friends and other supporters, while she is said to be fielding book offers.......

Some question the necessity of the financial assistance given that much of the costs associated with Ford's testimony – including all of her legal fees plus a polygraph examination – were covered by Democratic attorneys assigned to her by the Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, committee sources say; panel Democrats were allotted half of a $1 million committee fund for transportation, security, investigations and other expenses associated with the tumultuous confirmation process. The Senate Sergeant at Arms and Capitol Police also provided "heightened security" for Ford.

"Her lawyers said they were representing her on a pro-bono basis. Why does she need all of this money?” said an attorney familiar with the committee's investigation into her allegations, adding that the funds were originally set up to help pay her legal bills.

The Fords bought the beach home along with their Palo Alto home in 2007, after selling a historic bed and breakfast for more than $1.5 million. The Victorian-style B&B located near La Selva Beach, Calif., featured seven bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and tennis courts on 1.3 acres, and also served as their private residence.

Their main Palo Alto home has a current market value of $3.3 million, more than quadruple their purchase price. Their Santa Cruz beach house is worth another $1.03 million at today’s prices.

Local records show that Christine Blasey Ford recently applied for a building permit to remodel their Santa Cruz beach house. The application was made on July 16 – just two weeks before she sent her letter accusing Kavanaugh of assaulting her to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.

The proposed remodeling job is significant and expensive. The application obtained by RCI includes an almost 500-square-foot addition, along with a new front porch and new decks....."

This reminds me of an argument we kicked around in my office in DC for a few weeks. Background: the timeline was late 80s, early 90s. No one would ask this same question in an office setting in this era.

Anyway, the question posed to the men in the office was - "Would you go down on another man, to completion, in the middle of the day in the middle of the National Mall a crowded day for one million dollars?" If you said "No" then the follow-up was "How much would it take?" In other words, everyone has a price, what is yours. What or how much would it take to get you to sell yourself out?

Ford is the answer to the more modern formulation of this same question.

    Old joke:

Man in Bar to Woman in Bar: "Would you sleep with me for a million dollars?"
Woman in Bar: "Why, yes, I believe I would."
Man in Bar: "Would you sleep with me for $100?"
Woman in Bar: "Of course not! What do you think I am?"
Man in Bar: "We've established what you are, now we are just haggling over the price."

For the record, someone set up an unauthorized GoFundMe for Kavanaugh as well. It's collected over $600k

But Kavanugh, of course, refused any of that money. Instead, the guy who set it up will direct the funds to three Catholic youth programs that Kavanaugh has supported in the past

Doesnt it seems like, whatever news occurs anywhere in the world, that CNN/NBC/etc first use the primary filter of asking-- how can we use this against Trump?

They use a simple binary code these days for determining what makes their news cycle -- Either, yes, they can use it to cast him in a negative light and so it makes the cut. Or, no they cant figure out a way and so the story does not see the light of day.

For example, I just read something about a protest in Nigeria where the police/army opened fired on some protestors. But the violence was only the prop, the real story was that they blamed Trump for it.

On the other hand, this much more horrible story never made the mainstream US news cycle since they could not figure out a way to attach blame. Cant help but think if these victims were Muslims, it would probably still be a huge story in mainstream US media
