Here is an article about 2017 junior transfer G Eli Long

" ..... The 6’1 guard from Ontario, Canada began his college career at NCAA Tournament 16-seed regular Mount St. Mary’s. Long led Mount St. Mary’s in scoring, assists, steals, and minutes during his sophomore season, during which the Mountaineers won a First Four contest before falling in the NCAA Tournament’s First Round. Overall, Long averaged 15.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

This performance led to some expected interest from other high profile schools, such as George Mason, Ohio State, and Pittsburgh.

Ultimately, though, Long chose to sign with Texas, bringing him to the Forty Acres with two more years of eligibility following his transfer season.

On top of displaying a strong work ethic, Long has been a positive influence in the locker room with an infectious personality. Having sat the last year due to NCAA transfer rules, Long had plenty of time to get to know his teammates and develop chemistry and rapport with his new team.

“He’s also a guy who’s got great relationships with a variety of guys on our team, so he’s a true connector,” Smart added. “I’m really excited about him being eligible to play this year.”

Gotta admit that I have no idea what Coach Smart meant when he said that he wants Dylan to play without avoidance.
Interpreting coachspeak is kinda tricky sometimes, I guess. Too bad they didn't ask for clarity about that phrase.
    The full quote:
“He’s done a nice job with his body and I think it’s added a level of confidence — he’s been arguably our best player in practice,” Smart said. “We want Dylan to be a guy that goes after something, as opposed to playing with avoidance... We want him to have fun and attack and go after having a great year.”

I guess he means something like 'playing in constant fear of making a mistake or doing something wrong.' The head coach living in his head.

I had high hopes for him last year based on what I saw of him in early practice/preseason, but he turned out not to be who I thought he was. Maybe he can still that guy. We will see.

I think he means for this season, not recruiting rankings.

Coleman was inconsistent in his ball control. He made some poor decisions at critical moments during the season, like his inexplicable attempt to pass to Bamba at the end of the Baylor game. He was trying too hard to cover up for our nonexistent PG elements at times.

My bad, thanks for the clarification. I agree with your comments and I hope two or three players can prove those lists wrong. I noticed a couple of players from Nevada on a list and the Horns should have put them boys away in the tournament., even without AJ.

Not a bad first game. Defense was stout even without much of an interior presence. We seem to finally have some guard depth, especially once Roach comes back next game.

A little worried about our frontcourt, but I hope this team finds its own pace and figures out how other smallish teams have success.

We had about 10 minutes of pretty exciting basketball and 30 minutes of meh.

Lots of newcomers to integrate and no Snoop on the floor, so I'll take it. I'd like to see the exciting to meh ratio reversed really soon though.

Yeah we might have one of the deepest backcourts in the nation once Roach is playing. And we'll get much better ball protection as the season goes on (hopefully).
