If (a big if) Texas and West Virginia both win out don't they both go to the championship and OU is out???

Yes. WVU would be 8-1. Texas and OU would both be 7-2 and we have the tiebreaker. And I'm 99% sure that scenario prevents anyone else from being any better than 6-3.

How could we be 7-2 if we are now 6-3?

We should be able to get in If the pokes manage to beat ou also I THINK. That is of course depending on if we win out.

One thing about Ian Boyd’s analysis: He’s wrong about the tiebreaker situation if OSU beats OU, then OU beats WV, and Texas wins out to forge a three-way tie at 7-2.

He says we’re in horrible shape there, but he makes the mistake of saying that the point differential is for the entire conference schedule. It’s not; that tiebreaker compares the point differential only in the games between the three tied teams. In this scenario, we’re golden. We beat OU by 3 and lost to WV by 1, for a point-differential total of +2. If OU beats WV, then both those teams cannot end up with a point differential of +2 or better. If OU wins by 1, then WV wins the point differential with them by +0 vs -2; if OU wins by 2, they tie at -1 and OU would presumably advance because of their head-to-head win; if OU wins by 3 or more, they have a better point differential than WV and advance.

If it comes to the three-team point differential tiebreaker, then WV’s decision to go for the two-point conversion at the end of Saturday’s game could backfire. Yes, they won, but it gave them a 1-point win and prevented them from an opportunity to win the game by 3, 6, or 7 points in overtime. As detailed in the previous paragraph, it means a loss to OU by more than 1 point would result in Texas and OU advancing to the championship game.

Let's just beat Tech and then see where things stand. At this point just tired of losing by allowing the opposing QB to sprint to the pylon 2 weeks in a row. Whoever is playing DE, stay home. Just once when it matters. Friggin learn from your mistakes. The WVU game pissed me off because we give up a 32 yd TD with 16 seconds to go. But OSU was worse. You can not let the QB just sprint to the pylon on 3rd and 10 even though they were holding downfield. If the DE stays home and doesn't crash inside, that doesn't happen.

Like your points. Why does the safety let someone get behind him with less than a minute to go in the game?

Calls were equally bad on both sides on the WVu game. If you are talking OSU, then I agree - especially the 4th down play that they went on to score a TD on.

Pet peeve of mine: all sports margins of victory tallies should count OT as 0. Winning by 14 in OT is a closer win than winning by 1 in regulation is.

In a way, I would like to see ou and WVa play twice in 7 days. Can you imagine the pushing, pulling, punching and targeting that would go on during those two games? By the end of the CCG both sides would down to almost zero players due to Unsportsmanlike Conduct calls and disqualifications.

The really stupid thing about this is that if Oklahoma is down by 6 to West Virginia and scores a touchdown on the final play, their best chance to go to the Big 12 CCG is to go for 2. If they make it, they are in. If they miss it, they still have a shot at an OT win.

Even more bizarrely, if WVU is down 7 and scores a TD in the final play, they guarantee a berth in the Big 12 CCG by kneeling on the extra point. It would cost them a playoff berth though so it wouldn't be worth it (but it would be if they had lost an out of conference game earlier and thus were out of the National picture), but it's still a stupid system despite this being an unlikely scenario.

Imagine there are more upsets, OU wins out, beats West Virginia in Morgantown, is sitting at 11-1 and ranked 4th by the playoff committee... then loses to WVU in the rematch and misses the playoffs. The whole 10 team Big 12 title rematch is a stupid system. I honestly hope the above scenario happens since it would be poetic justice as OU demanded this stupid title game.

Plus that would put Texas in the Alamo Bowl which is a game I think we could win.

When was the last time something came out of Las Colinas (including hires) that wasn't "stupid"?

Against Chris Petersen & Washington? He has an axe to grind and will try to blow up the AlamoDome scoreboard. Against Stanford? Maybe.

God help us if it turns out to be Leach.

What has ou done the last several years that makes you think they would actually lose the game? They will win their 4th consecutive this year.

Have you seen their defense? Unless WVU has an off game like against Iowa State, I am just not sure OU stops them.

I do not think I would bet that WVU has an off game twice in a row.

In all likelihood, WVU beats OU in Morgantown.

I'm talking CCG in your scenario of a rematch of those two teams. ou finds a way to win the conference most of the time.

Can a team win by 14 in OT. Maybe 13 if there was a pick 6 following aTD

Yeah I said on the other thread that the LBs haven't been in position since about the TCU game. Wheeler and McCulloch, in particular, seem to just watch the backfield for developments and then react however the wind is blowing instead of playing percentages. The two-point conversion is a prime example of this, with McCulloch crashing into the interior while Grier just galloped to the corner.

If you went for 2 after the first TD (which is mandatory starting in the 3rd OT period) and made it, then got a defensive score. Never actually seen it happen.
