Thanks and there Doesn’t need to be a comma after “Again” it’s a comma splice and again I’m sorry

This is what is needed to get more students involved. Get the organizations to come to the games. Once they see the games, they will hopefully continue to come back. Really glad the UT admin is being so proactive this season. :hookem2:

The comma usage is nowadays more a matter of what one learned growing up. I still use it in that context as it looks and reads correct to me but I am also aware that current usage is trending away from using in that manner.

Grammatical rules are a pain to keep up with as they keep changing with the times. Spelling, on the other hand, especially established names, not much to discuss there. Except if you hit the keys in the wrong order as often happens to me.

Duquesne plays at TCU on Tuesday, Nov. 6, two days before they face Texas on Nov. 08.

Unfortunately, there does not appear to be any TV or video streaming of the TCU game. It would be nice to watch the Dukes play before they come to Austin.

This is my problem as I am unwilling to pay still more for additional coverage. Guess I will have to revisit this current decision as more and more games move to ESPN+ as we all know is going to happen.

Let's see. Where were we? Now that the season is really starting (yahoo!), maybe we can support a couple or few more targeted threads soon.. In the meantime, in the 2019 recruiting thread, Babhorn noted that a pg coming in 2019 would spend a year behind Sug and compete with Patterson. I wonder. Watching the exhibition game, I thought Allen-Taylor looked good at point -- composed, decisive passes, good shots. Thinking back to the few minutes Patterson played, I wonder if this year we will see Patterson come in more with another pg on the floor -- more instant offense off the bench, less expectation for her to run an offense.

First she has to provide the offense, something she failed to do last season.

Future foe Miss. State had a rough first half vs DII Central Missouri as they trailed after one 17-13 and were only up 35-29 at the half. MSU ended up winning 97-56.

I have a feeling MS ST may not not be as good this year as some of the arm chair qbs think they will be.

I watched that game. MSST used the entire 1st half to try out different combinations, for example Big Tee did not even play the 1st half. Starting the 2nd half Vic put in hIs starters and quickly dominated the game. State is good, not sure how good but Tee and Howard will be formidable. I am a DAWG fan and admit to strong bias but exhibition games are no indication of team quality!

two nice stories from the AAS:
Quite a bit about the frosh:
Women's basketball story lines: Touted freshmen aim to lead Texas to next level | Hookem.com
[QUOTE[Lineup in flux: With 6-3 forward Joyner Holmes (right ankle surgery) and Prince sidelined to start the season, expect the Longhorns to utilize a three-guard starting lineup. You can pencil in junior Sug Sutton at point guard and senior Lashann Higgs at shooting guard. Williams’ shooting touch and experience — she led the SEC in minutes played per game (33.5) last season — likely will put her in the starting five.[/QUOTE]

Interesting statement from Mike Carey of WVU. Kinda of him yelling at himself for mistakes like he would yell at his players. Boy, it's going to be a long year for that team:

Which is weird, because "on paper", they have 13 players and you would think everything is normal.

I like Mike Carey. He's right in that one never knows about injuries but, whether the rotation is small or deeper, coaches have 15 spots they can use every year.

Texas shot 70.7% (400/566) last season but that number drops to 64.5% (265/411) when you remove Ariel (79/92, 85.9%) and Brooke (56/63, 88.9%). Lashann led the team in FT attempts at 106, making 76 (71.7%) - improving to 78-82% would be significant considering how often she goes to the line. I agree when it comes to the freshmen, Audrey and Charli seem to have smooth, consistent deliveries and made all of their attempts in the exhibition vs WTAMU. If Charli, a big who should see plenty of FT attempts, can finish her freshman season at 80+%, look out.

I too respect Mike Carey. I would think the staff would invite walk-ons from the student body.

A&M won by 11 over Rice tonight. Their bench scored 2 points. The departures of Williams and Howard really impacted the Aggy depth.

6’9” Nancy Mulkey did not play for Rice? Not sure if an injury but would have made a Big difference.

Horns season preview from herhoopstats. It definitively states Sedona will take a redshirt but that is by no means official as yet. Predicts an Elite 8 finish.

    Great catch, DFW_Horn.
The uncertainty about Sedona is simply a matter of timing. If she takes the max six months to fully recover, a RS year is probably the best thing. The thing is that Coach Aston has stated that Sedona is recovering quicker than anticipated. She suffered the broken leg in very early Aug (Aug 03, iirc), meaning that she could possibly be ready to play in the second session if she is recovering quicker than anticipated. The decision at that time becomes one of which is best: play limited minutes or sit out and come back with four full years to play. .

Last post I said MSST was good but I did not know how good, based on the UVA game they are really good. Vic’s teams have always played great defense, this team takes Defense to another level. Word to the wise, watch out they may be Vic’s best team ever!

Anyone know why Shae was not on bench? Her parents were not there either??:hookem:

Yup, I asked that question and no one responded to that question. Curious as well because "everyone is going to play" is what Coach George said.

Best part of this video is seeing Sedona working out in the background. If you look closely, she's lifting weights.

Plus, iirc, before the first game, Shae was included among those cleared to play. So far, no Shae. Hopefully, she did not have a setback.

It's really encouraging to see Sedona doing so well in her recovery. Makes one wonder if both she and Joyner will be ready to play by the start of conference season.
