Look like a different team with jhenna in there at the setter position!

In realizing how young this team is......it will be even younger next year with Yaz and Johnson graduating. In looking at the recruiting thread, those players will have to come in ready. The wildcard is what Elliot does at setter. Will jhenna be it and Shook leave? Or Shook stays and tries to improve and get start back? I can’t remember her name but one of next year’s recruits is a setter. Or will Elliot look for a transfer setter?

No setter recruit next year but we have Naomi Cabello in 2020 and hopefully Kami Miner one 2021.

In all honestly, I've been incredibly impressed by Jhenna Gabriel. Her athleticism (where Shook severely lacked) has made a HUGE difference, her sets are more dynamic, and the rest of the team has responded well, I mean they're still hitting over .400 I believe since the switch. She reminds me of Chloe Collins a bit with her size and speed.

Athleticism is certainly one variable, but I also think Ashley is weak in analytical skills and decision making. A setter is the QB and has to know where to go with the ball and the position of the ball to take advantage of your own players strengths and the opponents weaknesses. Jhenna just gets it, like a Colt McCoy. She just has that inate ability to quickly assess the situation and get the ball to the best place.

It simply does not seem that long ago that Yaazie, Morgan and Micaya were frosh. Now Yaazie and Morgan will play in their last home game as seniors while Micaya is a RS Jr.

    ????

Horns sweep WVU 3-0 to send off their two seniors, Yaazie and Morgan , with a win on their final home game at Gregory.

With the BYU loss earlier this week, Horns have a good shot at being in the top four and hosting all the way up to the final four. We will find out tomorrow.

Jerrit said earlier in the season that Luketic would be going home for a bit around the holidays. No info as to why or how long. She definitely hasn't left the team.

I like there draw. Pittsburgh and BYU look like the teams to beat. And Texas is playing the best they have all season. Jhenna Gabriel has made a big difference in the improvement we have seen on the team.

Congrats to Big 12 MVP Micaya and Big 12 FOY Logan. Those two plus Brionne, Yaazie and Morgan all named to the All Big 12 team. Jerritt was named the Coach of the Year. :hookem2:

Horns won to advance to the regionals. Texas State hung with them in set two but was unable to stay close in sets one and three. Horns won 3-0.

Man, Baylor drops a heartbreaker to Oregon, 3-2, 15 to 13 in the fifth set. Great match, though.

BYU is pounding Utah. I believe the Cougars are as good as advertised plus they have a huge home court advantage. The place is packed with loud students tonight. I think we can handle Michigan but BYU is something else. But we seem to be playing extremely well right now. It will be exciting!

wonder why the host team is not being shown on one of the main ESPN channels instead of being on ESPN3?

WOW! great match between Texas and Michigan!
Glad to see Texas come up on top, 3-1.
Horns wiped the floor with Michigan in the game one, 25-10. I was wondering if any team had not made double digit kills in an NCAA game before Michigan got that tenth point.

Those last three sets were stellar, more so because the Horns won. Two 29-27 sets with each team winning one and then Horns pull out set four 25-19.

Scary moment there at near the end of the second set when Micaya looked to have twisted her ankle/knee when she landed on an opponent's foot when getting a point. Thankfully, she was able to get back in set three and ended up with 20+ kills.

Horns will face either BYU or Florida in the regional finals tomorrow at 7 PM on ESPNU.
