Sebastian Janikowski looks to have pulled a hamstring trying to kick a 57 yard fg. Dickson likely to handle all kicking duties in the second half. Drop kicks maybe?
I love Dickson but that play was embarrassing. I’m not sure what Carroll was thinking but I would think that a 10-15 year drop kick would be a very low percentage proposition, and extraordinary hard to execute. I’ll bet that any of us on HF — yes, any of us — could execute an onside kick. Now, whether or not our team would recover is another story, but even the best in the business have a success rate below 10% if I’m not mistaken. Funny thing about oblong objects, they don’t roll predictably. Seattle should have put the ball on a tee, or just flat on the ground, and just kicked it. That’s a higher percentage play than an attempted drop kick.
It reminded me of hitting one out of the bunker and getting all ball. Thus sailing it over the green into the bunker on the other side.
