Really? So I would win $150 for every dollar I bet on Trump if he wins? Doesnt sound right.

Nope the plus on those numbers are you put up $100. So for a +150 for every $100 you win $150 plus your original $100. Same goes for +1000. Now that’s assuming it’s the same as Vegas

In my opinion the Left has become a cult and have successfully gained the allegiance of millions by use of virtue signaling. I have several friends here in Austin whose entire identity is "goodness" and Beto was a saint to them. They are anti-Trump to the degree that it is a religious crusade. Couple that with the brown shirt type policing of "dissent" from the right on any social issue and you have a very powerful force that will vote solely on personality which Beto has mastered.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez was on 60 Minutes
    She advocates:

    - 70% income tax for "tippy tops" income earners
    - Elimination all fossil fuel
    - Elimination all carbon emissions
    - Force all Americans to drive electric cars
    - Compares herself to Lincoln freeing slaves

Eliminating fossil fuels will be equivalent to murder.

She isn't too off on comparison to Lincoln. She won't free anybody, but Lincoln did through lots of people in jail for dissenting, spending more and more money on government-favored industries, and increasing size of government as much as possible.

People like her think like this: "The rich (read white people) stole our land and our money. While doing so they have now imperiled our planet to the detriment of the poor. When we save the planet by switching to 100% renewables, the rich will pay the poor back by subsidizing cost differentials and reliability issues."

I believe the zealotry is on that level and they believe it the core.

This. They believe Trump is ripe for the pickin'. They all believe that the general election is almost a given for a Dem. They believe the anti-Trump vote + Dem base will be enough. That's why the field is so crowded. In their minds all you have to do is become the nominee and you're a shoe-in.

Somebody should ask her where she thinks electricity comes from. She would probably say "from the wall outlet".

I wouldn't mind getting rid of fossil fuels used to produce electricity. We should be using nuclear power. If it's ok for Iran, it should be ok for the United States.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

I would like to see more nukes too. But it won't happen here for 2 reasons: 1) Nukes are ridiculously expensive to build and operate. The operation of the nukes should not be expensive, but government regulations make it necessary to have backup layers of employees for everything. I know a couple of engineers who worked at the STNP for a few years and quit because they were bored out of their minds. Probably a lifetime, high paying job with nothing to do but fill out explicit reports on the most mundane activities. They both claim they could do the job in their sleep, but didn't because falling asleep on the job was almost the only thing that can get you fired.
    2) People are scared of nukes because of three mile island, Chernobyl, and Japan. Back a few years ago when oil was north of $100/bbl and climbing, permitting was started to build 2 more reactors at STNP. STNP (or whatever it is called today) was designed for 4 reactors; the 2 built in the 80s and 2 more to be built in the future. The permitting was moving at a glacial pace, as expected. But after several years the preliminary approval was granted. Then the Japanese earthquake/tidal wave happened. Most of the partners in the project backed away, despite spending millions for nothing. So what should have been the easiest nuke to build and bring on line died. There is an infinitesimal chance that an earthquake will hit south Texas. But the project was cancelled anyway. It was and is a shame.

You are supposed to feel annoyed and put off. People that do that are to be shunned.

Tulsi, Julian Castro, and Warren make Beto seem like a fairly reasonable choice.

Where have the JFKs and John Connallys of the Democrat party gone?

Homer Simpson would beg to differ.

I at one point thought she might be a rational acceptable Dem alternative, but apparently now she's budding up with Bernie Sanders, so she may be gearing up to move hard left along with everyone else.

Not quite. She supported Sanders in 2016, but has since been a bit too friendly with a couple of dictators in Damascus and Cairo for us liberals. To her credit, she did correctly refer to POTUS as KSA’s *****.

She has always been hard Left. What made her a little different is that (like Sanders), she wasn't a rabid partisan and wasn't friendly to Hillary Clinton and took a more anti-establishment stance on foreign policy. She even made some overtures to Trump during the Mike Flynn period. (Also, she's hot.)

Big controversy in Hawaii last week after Tulsi went after the HI senator for applying religion tests to judicial nominations.

It would probably go just about as well for them in today’s Democratic Party. Imagine a Dem who cut taxes and supported a strong military!

Kennedy tried to kill Castro and did kill Diem and was a reckless adulterer

Connally became Nixon's go to guy, converted to Republican and instituted wage and price controls. I'll pass on them. JC was the best education governor Texas ever had and loved UT
