I know this is kind of a "In the Stands" topic, but I'm creating this thread here as it will get a little more visibility. The "PETA Just Showed Up" thread generated some discussion / interest in a meat taste test / possible tailgate at the O&W Spring Game. I think many of us would enjoy a tailgate, the chance to meet fellow HF posters and sit together as a group. So, the HF brain-trust is just beginning to consider hosting an informal tailgate prior to the O&W game in April. Later this winter after we learn the date for the game, the HF Think Tank will be seeking a general level of interest from y'all. From that response we will gauge if we should move forward with a plan to organize a tailgate or not. If you want to discuss, comment or make suggestions please feel free to do so... Hook 'Em!
I’d try to meet up! I think we should make a big banner that says the tailgate is sponsored by PETA just in case any one wonders who to thank for the savory brisket. People Eating Tons of Animals
Will be watching for the date ... likely an April Saturday afternoon??? @horninchicago .... get your jumpseat reserved, and bid sheet ready. I don't yet have any other higher bidding priority. GAME ON!
Shark is going to teach me the delicacy of barbequing Longhorn steak. I am never too old to learn something new about bar - bq. I had some awesome Chili last week, I am going to keep practicing that. My wife is the chef at our house but I am getting better on the barbeque thanks to some indirect heat attachments on my grill, and just trying new things.
Yes, an April Saturday afternoon - looking at the calendar. Likely dates April 6 or 13th or possibly the 27th. Not likey the 20th as that is Easter Weekend. HornInChicago - plenty of lead time for you pencil-in that jumpseat request.
As has been customary, we are planning on YOU hosting the AFTER game entertainment at the VolHorn4Life Executive Ranch and Bordello. You may need to order extra whiskey for our group!
In my never ending quest to pissoff people and organizations I don't like, I think we should "honor" PETA by everyone that has any kind of exotic meat bring it to be cooked and served. Venison Pig Gator Rattlesnake Squirrel Possum Coon Nutria Antelope Elk No bear, EPA would get us for pollution from all the grease.
I like your idea - there are some delicacies there I'm certain many of us have not tried. Your proposed menu goes along with our tailgate theme: People Eating Tasty Animals!
Pretty good list of four legged animals but I am pissed and offended that you completely ignored our feathered delicacies that fill our skies! How could you? Ducks Geese Wild Turkeys Doves Quail Prairie Chicken Snipe The aforementioned crow
As the date gets closer I can post a signup form so we can get a good list of who’s coming, what they’re bringing, etc
I couldn't remember my password on the iPhone earlier. Keep having to change that all the time, dang teenagers. Anyway, I'll bring a wild turkey if the O&A game is after Turkey season starts, if possible. I have Venison, Hog, Auodad right now. Rocky Mtn Oysters too, that would be no problem I know where to buy those. I ain't harvesting those myself! Screw that.
It would be awesome if we could have a dish representing the mascot of each of our opponents. If we can label up some canned chicken to pass for some endangered species, we could go viral.
great idea! but what in tarnation is a sooner casserole? LaTech ... BULLDOG (really? LOL) LSU ... swamp kitty! Rice ... Owl OK State ... Cowboy (???) WVA ... Mountaineer Boomer Kansas ... Jayhawk (not a lotta meat there) TCU ... horned toad! K State ... Wildcat (have a few of those!) Iowa State ... cyclone (beans???) Baylor ... bears TTech ... Raiders hmmm ... on second thought ... just enjoy that which made Texas great and symbolizes the the rugged spirit.
