I know they finished with just 1 loss, but ain't no way ND is #5. I think they'd probably get beat by everyone else that's ranked in the top 25, even Michigan in a rematch. I probably would have kept WSU ahead of us.
While I’m OK with # 9, I would be confident if we played Florida, LSU or ND this weekend. And, we just beat Georgia. So for my money we’re a Top 6 team.
We played like a top 6 team in the Sugar Bowl. We failed to do so all season long, so I'm good with the ranking as it stands.
Are we the first team in history to lose to Maryland, and finish in the Top 10? If so, I'm very pleased with #9.
I agree with duke here. How we played all season ling should have nothing to do with the final ranking, which should indicate how good a team is at the end of the season.
Pleased the Horns finished in the Top 10 and beat 2 of those teams ranked above them (ou & GA). TH recruit class in Feb. should be in the Top 10, perhaps even Top 5? Breakout season for Sam as a player and leader. Some key losses but a lot of great talent coming back next fall. The future is very bright y'all
I think this is the biggest takeaway of "...is Texas back?" Aside from a rep earned over about 150 years of college football, Texas isn't like UCF who plays two top 25 teams each year: 2017: #20 Memphis, #7 Auburn (bowl) 2018: #24 Cincinnati, #11 LSU (bowl) ...as compared to Texas (and most Power 5 conference schools): 2017: #4 USC, #12 OU, #10 oSu, #8 TCU 2018: #22 USC, #17 TCU, #7 OU, #13 WVU, #16 ISU, #5 OU, #5 UGA (bowl) When UCF starts playing a schedule like Texas' 2018 and even goes 0.500 much less undefeated, well then...
I would take Texas over everyone ranked from 3 to 8. tOSU would be tough but still very beatable as is LSU. Texas doesn't deserve a higher ranking but this team showed me a lot and I think they laid the groundwork for a really good season next year.
Yeah, when i first saw UGA ahead of us, I was like dang. But it really doesnt matter - we did get back in the top 10 again, finally I been catching up on recruiting today and a lot of kids were very impressed by our play in that game, which is something that does matter
Don't get me wrong. Thrilled with the top 10 finish. Just think we should be 1 ahead of who we just dominated. Doesn't matter like you said. Just my opinion.
Wow, a bit early in the process to put us as preseason #3 in my opinion. ESPN's way too early poll has us at #8 just a spot above aggy.
The hapless Huskers were 4-8 in 2018, so I suppose there is no where else for Scott Frost to take them but up...
Sorry, but this is wrong. These dumbsh--s who vote need to make up their minds what they are voting for. If one NFL team loses their first five games and then wins out and makes it to the Super Bowl to play an undefeated team, and beats them, do they get the trophy? Or do they get second place? Maybe we could rationalize that the undefeated team lost because they did not want to be there. Sound familiar? Do championships in the NBA and MLB go to teams with the best records, or to the teams that win the championship games? Sometimes teams get better DURING the year and are at their best at the END of the season. Best can mean best of all of the teams. There can be no logic in putting a team that got manhandled just one week before the time of the vote ahead of the team that manhandled them just because they had a better record. Especially when the competition during the season was not even the same for the two teams. Texas was better than GA on New Years Day and they still are!!! The poll is a point in time, today. Voting otherwise can only mean they are too dumb to understand what they are voting for, or they have a bias, or both. Polls can be very stupid, just like those who..................
