LJH to the NFL

Yep, I don't care how deep and talented we are, these shoes will be hard to fill.
Its the experience and leadership that is unreplacable.

While I love LJH, I never like to see any of these early departures, particularly with a team like Texas, on the rise. To me it is and should be all about the team.

The poster child for this might be Christian Wilkins, Clemson’s dominant “senior” DL. He passed on the NFL last year, and the associated riches, for something more important. To bad we don’t have more players like Wilkins, and CJ.

That said, Brandon Jones may be more important to the team than LJH. Man do I hope “he” stays.

 

He is going to be a Michael Irvin type of possession receiver in the NFL. I would not be surprised to see him have great success, maybe a ring. And he will be a later round pick so he may go to a better team as well. I wish him all the best. One of my favorite receivers since Roy Williams. Soo fun to watch him just truck DB's and Safeties.

 

Good luck LJ. One of my favorite players ever and I graduated in 1990. I hope this is a good decision for him. I think another year and a potential Heisman push would have increased his value.

But at the end of the day, he will be able to take care of his family. Do good LJ, we will miss you on the 40 acres, but we will be pulling for you in the NFL.

 

I will also comment that he still should have stayed but I do understand his going early.

 

4th round pick at best. Too slow by NFL standards. I will miss him.

 

I'm not sure how he'll translate at the next level, but he was great here and that's all I'm worried about.

Curious whether we go back to a more conventional slot receiver guy, or if we liked what we did with the taller, more physical guy. I'm guessing Jake Smith is probably the guy, but we've got a lot of options, which is nice for a change.

 

He's played receiver for all of 2 years. Has excellent route running for that time and can make the tough catch. But still we were just getting started on those back shoulder throws. I worry he's a man without a position in the NFL. Not many 6'4" inside guys if any. He's not fast enough to play on the outside. A+ toughness, A- ball skills, B- speed. If he's not taken in the first 3 rounds, he made a big mistake. Here's hoping he gets his 2nd contract. Sam and Lil J are/were my favorites at Texas since Colt and Ship.

 

I think people saw Justyn Ross in the playoffs and were like "who's the next closest thing we could get right now in the draft?" and Humphrey's name kept coming up. Otherwise, I doubt he'd be as highly regarded for his lack of speed alone.

Disagree^^^. I think LJH's speed compare's well with Mike Irvin and Dez Bryant, who were high draft picks. And LJH gets more yards after catch than either of the above two guys.

Next, I would like to thank LJH for staying and playing in the Sugar Bowl game. Many players all around the country decided to forego their team's bowl game and "prepare" for the NFL. But not LJH. He stayed he played and was double teamed most all night, which lowered the # of times he was targeted. But he still made a big play at the end which kept possession. By the way, Georgia defenders never got him down, bounced off him and finally pushed him out of bounds.

I don't think LJH will drop below the 3rd round; and will likely go in the 2nd.

I think when a player thinks it's his best chance to get the $ he's got to go. I think the team has plenty of receivers to fill his spot.

 

Best of luck to LjH. His draft position will largely be determined by his 40 time. I heard some draft pundit say that the nfl wan’t sure what his position would be as far as being outside or in the slot. If he could put on a few pounds he could be a flex tight end ala jermichael Finley that would be an absolute matchup nightmare.

 

I think LJH will do very well at the next level. I imagine that he'd be a star with teams that are creative and know how to use talent: New England, KC, LA Rams, New Orleans. I would love to see him play in Dallas if they get a decent OC.

I think he will probably go in the 4th round
Nfl loves speed. He'll probably have an avg career but I think he made the right decision because he is not going to get any faster. Having said that however I will miss him and his production.
