Opening with 4 road games and a lot of games against SEC opponents, tough schedule indeed.

It is awesome we are playing at Lafayette. They may have the best college baseball atmosphere in the country, plus a fantastic new stadium. I think I am going to have to make the road trip.

I agree @Htown77, I may have to take the wife and daughter on a trip out to Lafayette for some great food and great baseball hopefully.

Most everyone is picking Tech to win Big XII and its hard to argue with that but Horns have chance and with schedule they are playing if they can finish top two in Big XII and have strong OOC record I expect them to host a regional and compete for a national seed.

I agree FW. A national seed is a tall order but getting to the CWS last season was a taller order.

Is this some kind of sick joke? I hope so, for Hamilton as well as for Longhorn baseball fans.

After playing all over the diamond last season, senior Mason Hibbeler could replace Hamilton at shortstop, but there are other players with experience at the position from high school like freshmen Bryce Reagan and Alec Carr.

    Bryce Reagan:
Played his first three seasons at Souhegan High School in Amherst, N.H., under head coach Bill Dod before attending IMG Academy (Fla.) for his senior year…earned first team All-State honors in each of his three seasons at Souhegan…earned defensive player of the year honors in each of those seasons and earned the sportsmanship award during his freshman year…named the New Hampshire Player of the Year as a junior.

Allen on Reagan: "Bryce is one of the top shortstops in the country and I love the fact that he is a switch hitter. He absolutely loves the game and plays with an edge that we are always looking for. Bryce is a very competitive kid that we will expect to come in and contribute in a big way."

Pierce on Reagan: "Bryce is a shortstop by trade and can play short, third and second. He can run and he switch hits. I love the fact that Bryce has committed to Texas from the northeast. He will bring versatility on and off the field and has a chance to be an immediate impact player."

Reagan sounds great, but gonna miss a proven commodity like Hamilton--God speed in your recovery :hookem:

Just awful news re Hamilton, hopefully rehab goes well and he comes back in year fully healthy. That is a huge hit to this team in terms of leadership, defense and scoring threats. Pierce's job for this season just got a heck of a lot harder.

Losing Hamilton and Clemens among others... seems like this will be a rebuilding year. I expect to make the tournament, but probably not make a super regional.

That said, we have a lot of great freshmen coming in and Pierce has exceeded expectations every season so far.

Yes, Coach Pierce revealed yesterday that DH was hurt riding a motorized scooter over the Christmas break.

Speed is a big part of his game. Hope he takes the time to fully recover. Even with time its difficult to recover the same speed. As the top offensive player last year behind only KC, it's quite an offensive loss. On the upside its quite an opportunity to be had.

    Hook em

I'm getting sick of those things littering up sidewalks all over town and now hurting our chances for success. Curse those scooters!!!

Guess that would depend on where he would get drafted as to whether he would come back next year or not. With that said, I will be quite curious to see who they start in his place. My guess would be Reagan.

Didn't we have a player hurt himself jogging one year? Stepping off a curb?
