Truth is Aggsy will be taking a step back in their defense and in their win/loss column. Their Running game will also take a step back but Kellen Mond will be better than last year.

Their dline and linebackers took a huge hit last year and they will end up having to rely on freshmen and sophs to fill the gaps, they are going to go through serious growing pains. wouldn't surprise me if they are 6-6 next year.

I see their ceiling is an 8-4 record, and their floor is 6-6, so I will call them a 7-5 team.

Texas will be a top 5 team, but I can see Texas ending up with a floor of 3 losses and the possibility of going undefeated. Everything depends on three things

    1. How fast can we rebuild our oline and have them ready by the time LSU comes calling.

    2. can we replace our corners and how will they perform. I know we have talent but are they ready to step up and be the starters. In the Big 12 corners not only have to be athletic, but also really smart.

    3. Will someone step up to replace LJH

I'm a lot less concerned about our dline and linebackers than others, and that is because I love Ta'Quon Graham and Roach at DE and Wilborn in the middle. I also love what we have at linebacker. I think you will see Ossai take Malcolm Roach's role last year and split time between linebacker and DE. I think our Juco's will also step up and fill a solid role on the defense.

My favorite guy on the defense is DeMarvion Overshown, that guy is going to be a key contributor on defense, his ability to fill a hole on running plays and cover athletic TE and RBs will be huge for our defense and make Todd Orlando look like a genius.

    Good stuff AB

Re: LJH, what we lose in physicality, I think we will gain in speed with Jake Smith and Jordan Whittington.

Only thing I'd say AB is what will Sterns show with a year under his belt. I see a improvement that moves him from good to reeeeally good. With the experience he will be able to use that speed much more effectively.

Who’s going to better in the country than BJ, BJ Foster, and Sterns roving the secondary?

Remember when Ags made fun our of DB recruits (too many)? Can’t wait to see Cook, Green, Overshown, and Jamison in action next year.

Wilbon, Roach and McCollough should be solid as seniors next year. Ossai and Coburn will be stars. Graham played well in the Sugar Bowl. If the linebackers gel, then I expect a better defense next year.

On offense, I am concerned about RB depth and TE. The line should be fine, particularly if we pick up 1-2 grad transfers.

I'm still leery about us being top 7-8 next year in terms of an absolute "best teams" standard. The schedule lays out pretty well, and a 2-loss regular season going into a conference championship is more than reasonable, so I would expect this team to be top 10. If they come out and beat LSU, a top 5 might definitely be in the cards. But there are still a couple of areas that I'm not 100 percent bought in before I say "this team is one of the four best teams in the country."

Having said that, I thought the post-2004 hype was a little premature, so what do I know...
